Re: Unnecessarily disappearing images[edit]

Well you see the thing is this is not about legal threats to the project. Wikipedia is not your average "Web 2.0" site where people can upload anyting as long as no one sends a legal takedown notice. Wikipedia is about creating and spreading free content. That's a fundamental non-negotiable cornerstone of the project. As such we are supposed to do things a little different, such as keeping the amount of non-free-licensed material on the site to an absolute minimum, not because we are scared to death of beeing sued, but because we want anyone, anywhere to be eable to use our content for anyting (so long as the license terms are abided by). Now granted the exact definition of "bare minimum" is somewhat open to interpretation, but in the recent resolution by the Wikimedia foundation Board of Trustees images of living individuals was explicitly mentioned as an example of something we should generaly not be resorting to using unfree material for. --Sherool (talk) 23:48, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

HD-DVD key redirect[edit]

Per WP:ANI#HD_DVD.23Muslix64.27s_exploit, I've deleted your redirect. We're hoping for a clarification from WP:OFFICE regarding its legality on Wikipedia first. Please do not repost it in the meantime. Thanks. --  Netsnipe  ►  17:22, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
