ShoutOut[edit]

Hey, uhmm. I've done alot of research about webtrain, but I had to ask you, whats your relationship to the company? Founder? CEO? And what is the main thing you're company does? I have an idea, but I'm not sure. I do alot of broadcasting work, nothing too pro, just music concerts [the band brings me in to record them] and I was starting to wonder if "web conferencing services [...] presentation webinars" could mean, "Way for Cindy to Broadcast?" I use Ustream.TV alot, because of its lack of cost, but does WebTrain work like this? CindyTalk 00:58, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is in mainspace now - anyone can edit it. Everything is now up to the community :-)

Looks like the move went fine, too. Xavexgoem (talk) 04:09, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see - that's just a regular HTML comment that was added when (I think) Athaenara moved the contents to the subpage a while back. Feel free to remove it. Xavexgoem (talk) 04:16, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} - Where can I find lists of articles tagged with delete or speedydelete ?

Theres CAT:CSD for speedy deletion. As far as I know, there is no category for AfD so you'll have to view them all WP:AFD as for prods, you'll find them at CAT:PROD. Regards ——RyanLupin(talk) 09:59, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can also look at Category:All_articles_proposed_for_deletion. Cheers — Relyimah (t-c-e) 10:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PictureTalk and Comparison of web conferencing software[edit]

Hi, I've nominated the two articles above for deletion as you wanted. Please go to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PictureTalk (2nd nomination) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Comparison of web conferencing software to comment. When commenting, please bear in mind that the quality of an article isn't really an issue at AFD, it's more about things like notability and verifiability. If you haven't commented at an AFD before, How to discuss an AfD may be of some help. Also, reasons articles are deleted. Hope this helps, --BelovedFreak 19:10, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I posted 2nd's on both, did you know the PictureTalk article had already been voted (result: delete) in 2005 ? GaryECampbell (talk) 20:30, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not that new, i've been here about a year and a half. Well there is not anything I can do, I diden't mean to WP:BITE you, I just noticed a COI, I wasen't making a personal attack. =) I want to improve the project, and its like when a young polish person comes on and deletes the Adolf Hitler page, because of the bad stuff he did, she warrents he does not deserve a page. • I understand your post completely and was not offended. The fact is, I should have provided disclosure. Maybe next time post here and advise? Sooo many policies to read and get familiar with. Thanks bunches for the award! - GaryECampbell (talk) 20:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help[edit]

This section is for this user to request assistance

{{helpme}}

  • I have read an article about participating in an AfD, I read the policy to not post messages that could be construed as vote gathering. Is there a tag or process or notice that provides awareness to the community requesting them to vote in an Afd ? - GaryECampbell (talk) 22:08, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have participated in the voting process on a few other articles (not many), I was wondering if I had not done something or messed up regarding a nomination. - Newbie dumb question... GaryECampbell (talk) 22:28, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CDS International Deletion Help?[edit]

  • Hello there. Gary. I'm writing you because you seem to know Wikipedia quite well, and seem a bit less intimidating(ie nicer!) than some of the other posters. When I created the page for CDS International, I didn't try to make it appear promotional, rather I intended for it to be informational as it provides some pretty great services as a non-profit. I actually went on one of CDS' programs to Spain and really, it was the best thing I've ever done(being able to live and work abroad, explore the culture...I could go on). So, perhaps I'm biased, but I also think that I know the organization quite well. In any case, my own views aside, CDS has been around for 40+ years and is sponsored by both the German government and the U.S. State Department, and has many famous alumni. I would believe this would make it notable by Wikipedia standards, hence why I included it. For instance, Christopher Kojm went on the Robert Bosch Fellowship program and is now on the 9-11 commission. It's long connection with Carl_Duisberg and the Carl Duisberg Society, as well as with the cbyx program is also significant...also, it's competitor, CIEE has a page? I'd be happy to rewrite it or someone else can rewrite it...I'd just really like to try to make sure it doesn't get deleted if possible. Thank you so very much!!! -- Alissa (CDS International (talk) 15:24, 7 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]
  • I understand, I have also found the process challenging. I will attempt to assist you by providing a response this evening. GaryECampbell (talk) 16:43, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks so much, Gary. I look forward to hearing your response! Best, Alissa (208.176.71.5 (talk) 19:48, 7 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Re: Afd Withdrawl[edit]

Hi, how come you want to withdraw the Afd? Remember, deletion is more about notability and verifiability than things like conflict of interest. It might be better to let it run and reach a community consensus on whether or not it should exist. As to closure, Afds are closed by administrators or other experienced editors. See Wikipedia:Non-admin closure - although don't close it yourself as you (and I!) nominated it. --BelovedFreak 16:17, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, you mean Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PictureTalk (2nd nomination)? It's been 6 days I think, but don't worry about it. An admin will close it when it's finished - they sometimes run over due to there being a backlog at AFD and sometimes not enough admins to go around, but it will get done. I expect it will be close as "delete", looking at the arguments on there, and the closing admin will delete the article. If that happens, and the article is recreated in the same form, it can be speedy deleted under criterion G4 as recreated material. If you're interested in preventing that happen, and not burnt out by all this, you should keep PictureTalk on your watchlist and then you will notice it being created. --BelovedFreak 16:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • ahh, I thought perhaps you had to close it. - DustyRain (talk) 18:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
