Some concerns

Dwetzel30, I've made some tweaks to David Wetzel (historian), and I want to emphasize that it is perfectly acceptable not to use the citation templates, but to cite references in a format you feel comfortable with, as you have been doing. However, I also do not see the article demonstrating notability, as we define it. Here are the guidelines for whether an academic makes a suitable topic for a Wikipedia article. Please add information and references making it clearer which (one or more) of those Wetzel meets. In general, the article needs more third-party references: rather than books and articles by Wetzel, scholarly reviews of his (your, I presume) work, references to distinctions received, etc. It appears that no one mentioned that while reviewing the draft article you submitted at Articles for Creation; and also that no one thought to welcome you and give you links to our policies and guidelines. I've belatedly put such a welcome at the top of this page; it also includes other ways to ask for help, although I see from your edits that you did find one. I'm afraid our ways can be confusing at the start.

Also, I notice that another account, Thewisehistorian, also started a draft on the same topic, and did so with an edit summary suggesting they intended to work on a pre-existing draft. They also actually started the article David Wetzel (historian), again with an edit summary suggesting they intended to work on a pre-existing article. Is that account possibly also yours, or a friend? If it's also you, you should probably decide which account to use and stop using the other one; with few exceptions, we require editors to use only one account. If you need to use two accounts for one of those legitimate reasons, such as having a separate account for use on non-secure computers, then you are required to declare on both user or user talk pages that the other account is also yours. If on the other hand it's a friend, it's also advisable to declare that you are separate people: see this section of the page I linked to earlier. Yngvadottir (talk) 22:12, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Dwetzel30. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article David Wetzel (historian), you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.
