Welcome![edit]

Hello, Dyan at SAC, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! April 2015[edit]

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Jonathan DeFelice does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Theroadislong (talk) 19:16, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Jonathan DeFelice. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 19:23, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my apologies!! I'm trying to correct the article with citations and the code had been giving me trouble. I'm on kiwi IRC to ask for help. I didn't have these same issues with the last article, so it's confusing me. Again, sorry for the various edits. Dragonfly wrote that he sees what the problem is, so hopefully it can be implemented and done! Best, Dyan at SAC (talk) 19:32, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Jonathan DeFelice, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 19:33, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure I understand your comment about removing content or templates (don't know what a template is), I've edited the page to improve it and fix failed citations (I am note the original author, a former employee was), and after your note about including a summary I've been including summaries. However, sorry for this! :) Best, Dyan at SAC (talk) 19:49, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I formatted the first two references to show you how they should look, but you repeatedly removed parts of them without explanation which is very disruptive. Theroadislong (talk)

Sorry! And thank you for fixing the code for books, which I know need to be italicized. I'll fix the other one now referencing it. Please note, I added a citation that perhaps you marked was needed, it's number 3, is this one okay to use? Dyan at SAC (talk) 20:02, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have formatted it for you. Theroadislong (talk) 20:07, 21 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Darlygolden, So I've inquired with Wikia reps (and referred to the helpful guidelines here) to write a solid article. While the full review is a week or so away, do you see any issues that need to be addressed? Thanks! Dyan at SAC (talk) 12:47, 1 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Steven DiSalvo President of Saint Anselm College.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Steven DiSalvo President of Saint Anselm College.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:39, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Whpg! I may have selected the wrong option for this photo. It can be used freely by anyone per the public domain. Was there an option for this selection that I missed? All college president pages include a photo of the person, so there must be a proper setting in order to correct this. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Dyan at SAC (talk) 13:42, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

According to the information in the fair use rationale, "Gil Talbot/Saint Anselm College owns the copyright". As such, Wikipedia will need proof that the copyright holders have released this image in the public domain. Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials has some information about donating copyrighted material. Those types of submissions are handled by the Wikipedia:Volunteer Response Team, often also referred to as OTRS. I hope this information helps you get things sorted out. Although these may appear to be a lot of hoops to jump through, it is to ensure that copyright holders' rights are respected. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 13:59, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again! The photographer contract can be provided as needed. How can this be shared? Dyan at SAC (talk) 14:02, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

As the phot is being released in the public domain, the best place for it would be at Commons which will allow it to be shared across other language wikipedias. Commons:OTRS provides some more detailed information about providing evidence of permission. Essentially, you will need to send it via email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 14:10, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, in fact that's where this photo was first shared (I wondered why the options were different). I will share it again in Commons and hopefully someone will contact me if there's an issue moving forward. Best, Dyan at SAC (talk) 14:56, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Before uploading again at Commons, I suggest you review the deletion discussion at Commons and follow the instructions at the end of the discussion. I would guess that if you simply uploaded it again, it would get deleted again. Regards. -- Whpq (talk) 17:34, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Logs[edit]

No idea, sorry. May be some distinction between 'patrol' and 'review' or something. DS (talk) 13:53, 26 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Steven DiSalvo President of Saint Anselm College.jpg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Steven DiSalvo President of Saint Anselm College.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 02:24, 28 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi B-bot, This image no longer exists as it was deleted for copyright discussion. The author's release of the photo was emailed to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org this morning. Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon, the image uploaded again and inserted back into the article. Thanks! Dyan at SAC (talk) 14:13, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
