Recent edits[edit]

I've had to undo a couple of questionable edits you've made recently, and I thought I should let you know why. This is completely unacceptable on the talk page of a BLP: our BLP guidelines regarding the avoidance of harm to the subject apply just as much on talk pages as they do on articles themselves. This is almost incomprehensible, unsourced, and uses the slang "fart" in a formal article. If you've any concerns please drop me a line on my talk. Thanks. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward: not at work) - talk 06:45, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand the first edit even if most people consulting that article is to laugh at her expense. However the second edit about flatulence is quite extreme, I took the time to research all the elements of flatulent for toxicity and if it's not formulated to your liking, the content has some relevance ; I won't take the time to research the calculations regarding dissipation so the distance is suggestive. I wonder why nothing of that remains in your edit... DynV (talk) 10:33, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't provide a source, so this was original research with an original conclusion. That's not appropriate for a tertiary source like Wikipedia. If you can provide a reliable secondary source which backs up both your figures and the conclusions reached, please provide it and we'll see about reworking the new material in a more appropriate manner. And again, if you have a personal opinion regarding the character of a person covered in a BLP, if it is likely to cause offense or harm then please keep it to yourself in future. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward: not at work) - talk 11:27, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The sources are pretty obvious in my edit, it's the conponent (percentages) along with the toxicity in its wikipedia page. Is my edit really so bad that you couldn't figure any of this (pretty simple) or did you judge me a troll from the single joke I made on this site then dumped my work at slightest sign of a problem? DynV (talk) 13:41, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't "judge you a troll": you're obviously a long-standing and productive editor, which is why I dropped you a personal note. Whether you drew your findings from data already on the article or not, the conclusion that you reached ("at 2% will cause the majority of occupants to feel a significant degree of discomfort... however they can reach 30% which is concerning") appears to be entirely your own. If not reliable source discusses the degree of potential discomfort, neither can we. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward: not at work) - talk 14:58, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I now understand about why you didn't just remove the questionable part of my edit keeping the better part of it. DynV (talk) 04:51, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If I did that, then the section would contain: "Most component have low or no toxicity with the exception of Carbon dioxide... The exposure is linked to the density thus proximity and inhalation amount." This is still unsourced, dubious (while high concentrations of carbon dioxide can be toxic, passing wind is never going to lead to that), and fairly trivial (it should be plainly obvious that exposure if linked to proximity). I decided that this was not of encyclopedic value to the article. If you disagree, it would be a good idea to take the material in question to the article talk page. Nunavik travel[edit]

The best thing would be to google something like "nunavik travel" (without the "). I got some interesting looking links such as travel blogs, government tourism, Nunavik info centre in Quebec City. Hope they help. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 14:17, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is great info, why not put it on Nunavik page ? --DynV 06:45, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

you could do like some people do and put a notice on the top of your page that says "If you post here I will reply here. If I post to your talk page please reply there." Some people do that to keep the conversations together. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 13:43, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Will you edit the page or should I do it and give you credit ? --DynV 15:38, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry I missed this before now. You should just update the page as you think is best. There's no need to give me credit at all. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 21:38, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Morrowind opinions[edit]

In which page should I put this section ? Talk:The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind don't seem appropriate for personal comments.

I love Morrowind so much that I've tattooed it's logo 6 “ long on my forearm engraving the three runes with Scarification and plan to have other similar work done. I wonder if it just because it marked me because it converted me from First-person shooter to Computer role-playing game or it was underrated but to think this had only 8.9 average score make me a bit sad ... --DynV 07:20, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct. Tallk pages are for talking about the article, not the subject or how much one loves it. You can post this information only on your personal user page, User:DynV. - UtherSRG (talk) 11:54, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Is there a way to link the use page section like adding a tattoo section to Morrowind ? --DynV 15:38, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

make universal programmer page ?[edit]

I wonder how to use universal programmer as seen on this sega genesis programming page, I know it's related to eprom. I wanted to start a wiki page with this small info on it for someone else to complete and wonder is there's a special:special pages link or {{helpme}} tag to put ? I have a hard time learning the internal scripting ... Is there a guide ? O_o

Such an article would get deleted. Wikipedia is not a how-to manual. - UtherSRG (talk) 14:48, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the precision but it doesn't help me with the scripting part. --DynV 16:27, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what you mean by scripting, the wikipedia markup language? --pgk 17:25, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

languages redirection[edit]

Is there a tag or category to put the wikipedia link of the same page (like redirecting) or another in another languages ? Like I often have to translate from english to french so the french link would help me do this. --DynV 05:46, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes they are called Interwikimedia links. For example at Babar the Elephant the "[[fr:Babar]]" at the bottom of the article makes the link to the French version in the sidebar (under the search bar).--Commander Keane 05:51, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

religion[edit]

I'm pretty interested in Vaishnavism. Although the reincarnation aspect just turned me off.

Confucianism is interesting and gives wisdom, impressive !

I contacted my local Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) Church and I think I'll be joining them although they're 22Km(13.7m) from my home ... [1] 16:54, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

Deism are shared by both whch interest me the most : Unitarian Universalism and Confucianism.

I found and contacted a closer UUA Church at 13Km(8m). [2] 19:37, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Certainty series is interesting and those are close to me Epistemology and Nihilism. 17:31, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

I went to Unitarian Church of Montreal (UCM) and found it interesting and somewhat inspiring, it must've been the novelty that dampered it. I saw a Confucianist quote that really inspired me so I should get into that, maybe there's a group not too far ... 18:54, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Geek hero[edit]

Charles Babbage is the father of programmable computer. Hail to my hero !

A honorable mention goes out to John von Neumann for not depending on overly complicated machines.

share watchlist[edit]

I'd like to but I have seen nothing of the sort on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:Watching_pages and searching for

--DynV (talk) 02:10, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Huh? What are you trying to do? Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 02:12, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to show on my user page topics on my watchlist and wondering if there a wikitag that does it automatically instead of doing adding and updating it manually... --DynV (talk) 02:14, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So far as I know, there's no direct way to make your watchlist public. You could, however, keep a page in your userspace which lists pages you keep track of, and then use Special:Recentchangeslinked targeting that page to accomplish more or less the same thing (see WP:MVP for an example). – Luna Santin (talk) 02:14, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Any dis/approval that

 ? --DynV (talk) 02:23, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other than the method stated, there is no possible way to my knowledge that it can be done. §hep¡Talk to me! 03:07, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

watchlist talk[edit]

How may I only watch a talk page ? I'm pretty sure I used to be able to do that but it seems I can't anymore ... DynV (talk) 19:09, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can't watch just a talk page. Sorry. Ten Pound Hammer and his otters(Broken clamshellsOtter chirps) 19:12, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You could create a special watchlist if you wanted to do this. See User:Tvoz/Links I never remember, under "super watchlist" for instructions. xenocidic (talk) 15:17, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

claim modifications[edit]

Sometimes I see that I'm logged and make a modification but when it submits, my session expires thus it's made as an anonymous IP log ; is there a way to claim such modification ? What I sometime do is add then remove a small thing putting a claim note from the previous anonymous modification but this is adding useless versions.

Not really. If the IP is a static IP, you could always redirect its user/talk pages to yours. You should click the "Remember me" button to keep logged in. xenocidic (talk) 15:16, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're invited![edit]

Hello, DynV,

You are invited meet with your fellow Wikipedians by attending the Montréal meetup scheduled on Sunday, June 27, 2010; between 1500 - 1700 to be held at the Comité Social Centre Sud (CSCS), located at 1710 Beaudry, in Montréal. You can sign up at the meetup page.

The meetup is happening in concurrence with RoCoCo 2010, a free, bilingual, weekend unconference including many people involved with Wikis both within the Wikipedia/Wikimedia Community and abroad. You do not need to attend the conference to sign up for the Wikimeetup, but you are certainly welcome! Bastique ☎ call me!

(PS: Please share this with those you know who might not be on the delivery list, i.e. Users in Montreal/Quebec)
