The article Engin Akyurek has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Only minor mentions is lists for references, promotional in nature

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. a13ean (talk) 18:58, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Engin-akyurek4.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Engin-akyurek4.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:08, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Engin-Akyurek-1-500x333.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File source problem with File:Eaildir.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Eaildir.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. December 2011[edit]

Please do not continue to upload files with missing or false information on their copyright status, as you did with File:Engin-akyurek4.jpg. Please note that Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Images and other media must only be uploaded if they meet the conditions stated in our image use policy, and if their provenance is clearly documented. If you have questions, feel free to ask at the copyright question page or on my talk page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 03:34, 9 December 2011 (UTC) How do I respond back to the suggestions? File permission problem with File:EnginAkyurek-resim.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:EnginAkyurek-resim.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 03:34, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on File:Engin-akyurek4.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ukexpat (talk) 15:25, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"This article was written by the administrators of the Facebook site, "Engin Akyurek Universal Fans Club," (EAUFC)."

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but such groups are generally discouraged from using Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, organization, or clients. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company, organization, or clients. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.

Unblock us for editing[edit]

{{unblock-spamun|ParlayanYildiz|we need to change our user name; we did not understand, nor realize that our username was an issue} Dear Admins:

It is obvious that we are new to Wiki; please forgive us for any mistakes we have made.

We have no intention of promoting our site, nor of ourselves, as individuals.

We genuinely only wish to include information about this actor, Engin Akyurek.

We used the username EAUFC because it is one that we use for many of our email accounts, and various sites, not to promote our site in any way. It is the easiest one for all of us to remember.

Please reconsider our situation, and help us to make this article in compliance with Wiki.

All or our pictures have been taken off, even though we thought we had provided the necessarily links. Our actions are not because we are wilfully ignoring Wiki policies, it is because we really don't understand the policies; we are trying to better understand what we can and can't do.

Please reconsider unlocking our article for various formatting and other edits. As for pictures, we are currently writing to various production companies to get permission to use the photos.

Thank you.

EAUFC (talk) 23:28, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you are apparently not understanding many of our rules: we don't allow groups to have accounts! "It is the easiest one for all of us to remember" makes it clear that you want to have a group account, which is forbidden; and the rest of your message makes it clear that you want to use Wikipedia to promote this actor you admire. --Orange Mike | Talk 23:51, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear OrangeMike:

Please tell us, if my request to change my user name will be allowed and if I will be blocked from editing. I can more than happy to do what is required, if I understand and know what the requirements are.

Thank you.

Request for assistance[edit]

Dear Admins:

I wanted to follow up with someone in some way. Please help me.

For the page, Engin Akyurek, I have changed the language, taken out anything that appears promotional, and subjective. I had already taken out the statement included above in the reason for the block, earlier this morning. I have done other edits as well, and would like to clean up the article.

As I was told that each person needed to have a separate account, I wanted to let you know that yes, I do have a separate account.

However, that account's IP address is blocked for editing, as well.

If there is someone that can assist me, I would sincerely appreciate it.

Thank you.

EAUFC (talk) 01:07, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Changing your username and having individual accounts are only part of the issue: you also need to address the issue of promotional editing and editing on behalf of an organisation. Have you read the instructions in the block notice about what to do to request an unblock? Also, you must not ignore the block and create a new account to get round it (as you have doneas Infuzein: you must request an unblock, including in that request both an offer to change username and an indication of what your future editing will be like. JamesBWatson (talk) 21:17, 10 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

As you have already created User:Infuzein, there is no need to unblock so that you can create yet another account. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:06, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Admins:

I have requested assistance and tried to comply with the requirements as listed in a prior requested. I submitted a request to have the user name EAUFC changed to ParlayanYildiz, but the request was denied. As one of the admins had said that this was a "group" account and could not be used, I asked that the new user name be allowed. I am not trying to "ban evasion" or whatever the language is used. I am sincerely trying to understand your requirements. I will create whatever name you deem is proper, and I will certainly edit in the manner you believe that best conforms to Wiki. In fact, that is what I was doing with the article in question, Engin Akyurek, adding new links and references. I have also written to the studio that is producing the show for this particular actor to get permission to use their pictures. I have made this request in both English and Turkish, to ensure compliance with your requirements.

But, I can't do anything, if I can't edit. To block a user, rather arbitrarily, without engaging in dialogue with that user seems to be the antithesis of what Wiki is meant for, a medium for exchange of information with people around the world. But, if I can't communicate with any of you, how can I fix the problem? I can't edit the article in question, how can I fix it, and become a better user?

Your assistance is sincerely appreciated.

Thank you.

Moving forward[edit]

We've had no motion here for a few days, so I wanted to lay a few things out to help:

  • a userid must represent one person, and one person only. If it appears that it's a group account, it must be immediately blocked - no discussion required. You did, of course, agree to this policy when you signed up. As such, in order to unblock, we must be assured that no other people will be signing into the account at any point in the future
  • you must realize that reliable sourcing does not permit primary references as sources: they must be independant, 3rd party sources. As such, links to the person's website as sourcing doesn't work
  • The general notability guidelines are important for you, especially as amplified in WP:ACTOR.
  • If the chosen username is your real name, you might wish to refer to WP:REALNAME just in case
  • A "Fan club" has a rather unique perspective on notability, one that is often counter to Wikipedia's goals - your goal is to promote your favourite actor, whereas Wikipedia's is to have articles on notable individuals.

If you can address these things - at least on how you'll move forward with your future editing on Wikipedia - then we'll be able to better assess your request for unblock (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:15, 18 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Brad:

Thank you, so much, for your note above. I really appreciate you writing to me and further explaining my options. 1) With the blocked account, I would like to request that it be closed. I will not be using that account whatsoever. I, and my colleagues didn't understand Wiki, due primarily to the fact that a few weeks ago, we were complete novices. We still are, but better understand Wiki requirements. I have spent hours going over some of the rules and regulations, and coding. If the account EAUFC can be closed, that would be ideal. I will no longer use this account. 2) I have a personal account, Infuzein; if the ban on this account can be lifted, I can use this to edit other articles which are of interest. I speak fluent Turkish, some French, and of course, English. I would like to increase the amount of articles available on Turkish persons of note, writers, artists, poets, etc., but also review any other article to which I may be able to add something. I have an MBA and Bachelors in Economics and Finance, and also am knowledgeable about Middle Eastern history. I would focus primarily on editing such articles.

3) The sourcing, of course, was our first mistake, and again, it was because we did not understand the regulations well. I believe the article on Engin Akyurek is well sourced now. I know many edits have been included in the past couple of weeks, and I have noticed that the article is relatively well sourced. I was preparing all of this, and was working on documenting the article. I think our real mistake was to publish it prior to making sure we had all of the necessary information; again, this was more due to being a novice, versus any intent to disregard Wiki rules or regulations.

4) Please let me know if you need anything else from me. Again, my personal recommendation would be to close the EAUFC account; then, I can work with my personal account, Infuzein, for any future edits or articles. I have 20+ years of experience in economic development, international business, speak Turkish fluently and some French. I can add information to various articles on Turkish people of note, and make edits as required and history for the ME.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

PS-I did want to ask about the Engin Akyurek article- the warning labels that are included at the beginning of the article. Do you know when they will be lifted, or is there additional information required for that article? If so, I can certainly see if additional information can be obtained.

Thank you EAUFC (talk) 16:40, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I do not see an account in the name of Infuzein, which you state in this page, above, you have. Would you be so kind as to confirm the spelling of this name? --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 19:56, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There is a (blocked) account, albeit one with no userpage: see User talk:Infuzein. Did you forget to capitalize "User"? --Orange Mike | Talk 20:02, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Anthony:

The User name is infuzein. If you don't see an account, then is it possible to lift the block on my IP address, and if so, can I create a new account?

Thank you.

EAUFC (talk) 01:30, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Since you have already created User:Infuzein, please do not sign into this account any further. Please sign into the User:Infuzein account - the autoblock should be done by now. If not, please make additional unblock requests there. Please note, the positive advice for your editing provided here should be taken into account as you move forward.
