I took the time to look up those IP address and there locations. They Geolocate to NY, NY and New Paltz, NY. One is a short distance from Woodbury NY. From where one of the 97's IPs were. I am also not going to edit war with user 97 or try to do the he said she said or say that this individual is "vicious" or anything of the sort since this would simply violate civility What I will do is continue on with my editing to paint a realistic and balanced article. I looked at editing style and behavioral evidence in making my decision to block you. The IPs that infiltrated your talk page matched up perfectly to how you edit. bert bell

Could you please advise me why you reverted my edit that Bert Bell was not the first person ever inducted into the professional football hall of fame. I provided an incline citation that he was the first person ever inducted into the professional football hall of fame and you deleted it without explaining why or showing who was selected before him. That being said, I have documented on numerous occassion whereby the authors associated with Bert Bell have proven to be wrong. Like I said on the talk page, there were 17 charter members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and it is original research to suggest that Bell was the first one to be inducted of that 17. You could say "Bell was in the first enshrinement class for the Professional Football Hall of Fame," but not "Bell was the first person to ever be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame." Sammy Baugh was in that charter class, so even if the members were inducted one by one, Baugh would be first alphabetically, and not Bell. Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:26, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

No. My citation said he was the first inducted, as in first inducted in that class. That being said, those authors screw up all the time and I would want to see an author say "he was the first inducted BECAUSE...blah blah blah" I looked in magazines from that era and there was nothing. So it could have been just dumb luck that he was inducted first. Starting position navboxes

E247, you're my administrator hero, but I have to tell you that I hate the NFL starting position succession boxes. WP CFB has labored mightily to purge most, if not all, of the coach, starting position and other minor award/record succession boxes from the coach and player articles. I would hate to see these mutate and start making a comeback. Please contemplate enhanced navboxes for NFL coaches and starting QBs (i.e. with first name and years of service, on the pattern of college coach navboxes), and save the rest for article text if it's noteworthy. The proliferation of sports succession boxes does not need to be encouraged. It only leads to a pile of graphic noise at the bottom of the article pages. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:29, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Uhhhh . . . not really. It was your spiffy new LLB succession box on the Alonzo Johnson which alerted me to your work. LOL

The problem, as I see it, is that (1) I'm not sure the starting succession for all 24+ positions on a football team is truly notable in and of itself (if it is truly notable, why not a WP list article?), and (2) it's not unusual to have four of five different players start at a given position in any given season, which leads to horribly confusing and not particularly helpful succession boxes. IMHO, succession boxes work best for major office holders, like the U.S. President, where a term of office is measured in years, not games. Also, if predecessor and successor players at a position are really notable in a particular instance (e.g. Steve Young taking over for Joe Montana), shouldn't that be mentioned in the body text of the article? Ray Graves: Eagles/Steagles center, Gators head coach

E247, I do have an Eagles-related problem with which I could use some help: Ray Graves. Was a Tennessee Volunteer lineman and assistant under Robert Neyland, was an Eagle draft pick in 1942, a "Steagle" in 1943, an Eagle again in 1946, Georgia Tech head defensive assistant under Bobby Dodd in the 1950s, and the Gators' head coach from 1960 to 1969. Most successful head Gator before Spurrier arrived in 1990. If you could spiff up Graves' NFL career text with some of those wonderful Eagles references of yours, I would be grateful. Yeah, his NFL player profile says "Rockwood"; Tampa Tribune columnist Tom McEwen's 1974 book about Gators football history says "Inskip"; a 1998 interview for the university's oral history project and a related 2006 book, quoting Graves, says "Knoxville." Very frustrating. I hate conflicting sources; in any other case, I would consider all three reliable. Graves is still alive and lives in Tampa.
