Need help w/uploading photo

Sorry to bother you with another message. I just uploaded a photo for the article about my relative W. E. Blackhurst, but I have no idea how to link it to the article. Can you help me? Gigogag (talk) 02:03, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

I have added the image to the article. Please review the diff I provided to understand how to add them in the future. Thanks, Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:22, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

Never mind, I figured it out by myself. Gigogag (talk) 02:29, 2 August 2011 (UTC)

RevDel request

For a recent IP edit at Bronson Pelletier. It's standard vandalism regarding the article subject, but it names an identifiable private person as well, and should likely be suppressed for that reason. Thank you. Hullaballoo Wolfowitz (talk) 17:50, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Looks like someone else already took care of it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 18:20, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Babin

If he's wearing #93, then how come I saw footage of Eagles camp today on NFLN and he was in #94? RevanFan (talk) 21:58, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Because he changed to #93 after the morning practice. He even said on his Twitter account that he was going to change to #93 (Highlight the text, it's in white for some reason). Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:01, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Question about protection of your talk page

Is it me or are user talk pages almost never supposed to be protected for long periods of time (except for those of blocked and/or banned users)?Jasper Deng (talk) 03:34, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

I protected it after blocking two 4chan IPs, thinking they will come after me next. I'm unprotecting when I think the raid is over. Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:38, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
It's been over for a while. GFOLEY FOUR!— 04:31, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

NFL.com

So how are we going to link players to nfl.com? I was going to get back into convert player templates but nfl.com has changed their format so that you can't find historical players. So all unactive and some active players have broken links. Southwood Paul (talk) 04:45, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

I noticed this as well, and I think we need someone to work on the infoboxes. For now, just put in the ID as if nothing happened. Eagles 24/7 (C) 04:52, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Eagles roster

There is a QB at camp today wearing #1. I saw him in footage on NFL Network. Who is he? RevanFan (talk) 16:12, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

My guess is that Jerrod Johnson switched to his college number. Was he black or white? Eagles 24/7 (C) 16:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Black, but number 8 is out there, as well. There's #1, #3, #7, #8, and #9. At least that's what I saw. I'll post again if I see more footage. RevanFan (talk) 16:23, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
I just saw #1 with the name "Johnson" on the Eagles website, so it's Jerrod. Not sure who #8 would be, probably still Johnson from earlier footage. Eagles 24/7 (C) 16:34, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, you're probably right. Some of the footage could have been live and the rest from yesterday, or something. RevanFan (talk) 16:36, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Shall I change the number? RevanFan (talk) 16:38, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Nope, I got it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 16:54, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

This is funny

Remember that I said that I thought I was getting into the heads of the Dallas Morning News guys? Well, in today's chat, one of them said, "Safety Abram Elam will wear uniform No. 24 before that guy from Wiki asks .." I found that funny. RevanFan (talk) 20:53, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Lol, you're famous! I had a moment of fame when someone called into the Eagles' website show and said Vince Young's page was already updated for him as an Eagle (and I was the one to change it!). Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:56, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Nathan Eovaldi

Can you delete the Nathan Eovaldi re-direct?--Yankees10 23:04, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, but, as I stated earlier, if there is no valid reason for deletion, I cannot comply with your request. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:09, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Im not going to argue with you, but why all the sudden? I asked you a bunch of times before and there was never a problem. Just curious why you won't do it now.--Yankees10 23:13, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
I know, I know. But I thought about it a bit and realized that deleting redirects to convert them into articles isn't backed by policy. Quite frankly, I don't understand your motive behind the requests either. Apologies if this comes across as rude, but why should starting off fresh matter? Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:18, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Don't worry your not being rude, the requests are somewhat odd. You don't have to worry I won't bother you about them anymore.--Yankees10 00:09, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Carson Palmer

This is getting irrating. You guys are insistent that all articles must be accurate, I keep trying to make this article accurate and I'm getting stopped at every turn. Put his roster status to unknown or something because that is actually the truth. Hes been removed from the roster, but he can't be on the reserve/did not report list because he would have been fined $20,000 a day each day he hasnt been there which totals out to $220,000, and so far he hasnt been fined a penny. This is common sense. I'm guessing I could e-mail the team and get an official roster status and you guys wouldnt believe me. He sold his house, moved back to California, and is insistent that he is not playing for the Bengals again and Mike Brown ever since he demanded the trade has not budged about trading him. Saying he is on the reserver/report list is inaccurate. If you wanna be pushy about accurcy, you might want to do a little more to keep it, no offense to you, just a general statement. Carson may not be retired, but he is no longer a member of the Bengals and a team can retain rights to a player, without officialy being a member of the team. And team rosters on their websites, are more official then you think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockchalk717 (talkcontribs) 16:23, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Orginal research?? The orginal research page defines it as "(a term that) refer(s) to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and stories—for which no reliable published source exists" Explain to me how that applies when I have proved numerous sources proving my point? Give me reason that actually makes sense. This is beginning to be a joke and a complete mockary of what wikipedia is about. I provide mutiple reliable sources and they get shot down each time. Providing readers with accurate infromation is not worth getting banned from future accurate edits that will be the truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rockchalk717 (talkcontribs) 00:34, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't see what the issue is here. Palmer was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list on July 29. In addition: [1]. Teams (i.e. PR departments or webmasters) can do whatever the hell they want with their websites; it in no way reflects Palmer's actual roster status. Pats1 T/C 00:51, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
That was a week ago. Show me something in the last few days then I will believe it. The issue is if he really was on the reserve/did not report list like holdouts are, he would of fined a pretty substantial amount of money by now, but he hasnt. Not a penny. I've said that many times and nobody seems to understand it. I'm done with this BS. Nobody on here has a clue whats going and I'm only getting information that is over a week old. So i'm gonna let that people involved read this, then im deleting this section of this talkpage. It will be off within an hour--Rockchalk717 (talk) 01:09, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Show me something that states Palmer has been removed from the roster (a news article, not a page from Bengals.com or NFL.com). Teams can choose not to fine players (for example, DeSean Jackson has not been fined for missing 12 days of practice) and players placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list cannot be fined IIRC. And no, you will not be removing a section from my talk page. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:13, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Teams can chose whether or not to fine players, and even if they do, it doesn't have to be made public. There has not been a transaction that has reinstated Palmer from the DNR list, so you're essentially asking us to prove a negative. Pats1 T/C 01:23, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
Hey Rockchalk, it's just Carson Palmer. Nothing to get mad about here.--Giants27(T|C) 02:40, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

Chris Harris -- a rookie on the Broncos

There's no article for him, but I got a picture at the scrimmage last weekend: File:Chris Harris (American football cornerback).JPG. If appropriate, could I ask you to start an article about him? I am not sure how to disambiguate him as there is already a Chris Harris (American football) on the Bears. Also, if you feel like starting articles for other Broncos, I have additional pictures for which there are no articles. (I am not very good at starting articles for atheletes). Thanks and kind regards, Jeffrey Beall (talk) 00:31, 12 August 2011 (UTC).

Per WP:NSPORT and WP:ATH, players are not automatically notable until they play in a regular season game. The only exception comes if they pass WP:GNG. However, I do not believe Harris meets any of the notability guidelines at the moment. If he does end up playing in a game this year, message me and I'll be happy to create a page for him and any other Broncos players. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:50, 12 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for that helpful explanation. Jeffrey Beall (talk) 19:22, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Maybin

Do you mind weighing in? Bhirsch is trying to basically enforce some 4PM ET deadline for transactions daily and is claiming that Aaron Maybin is not a free agent for 24 hours, even though he has been released. Carson Palmer

I dont want a repeat of the last incident we had. So, I'm gonna try to talk this over with you. I still think periodic updates should be placed on his page. Its been 2 weeks, the season has started so I feel it should be noted that he did not play in the game and that he is not budging so the next move is up to Mike Brown. No offense to you, but I believe you are way too stubborn about this situation. I finally stopped on his roster designation, but periodic updates on the situation should be done. Come September 11, if hes not under center are still going to have the last update on it being "On ___________ Palmer was placed on the Reserve/Did not report list"??? It shouldnt be but i'm not going to fight you on this.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 23:37, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

No, it's ridiculous. He was placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list. It's redundant to keep "updating" his status when his status hasn't changed. "Palmer is still on the list and Mike Brown will still not trade him" is, again, ridiculous. His being placed on the Reserve/Did Not Report list should be the last update, since nothing has happened since then. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:42, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
If he doesnt play this entire season, its pretty obvious he is retiring and if in Febuary when the season is over, and he still hasnt been traded, released, or filed paperwork, to call him a member of the Bengals still, IS RIDICULOUS. This isnt a injury situation like with Bob Sanders or Priest Holmes to name a couple, or a Mike Vick type situation where hes sitting in a prison cell. He is saying trade me or i'm retiring, if he sits out an entire season without playing because he doesnt wanna play for the Bengals anymore, but Mike Brown still doesnt wanna trade him, its pretty obvious what the hell is gonna happen. I'm ending this with one word: Stubborn.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 23:58, 15 August 2011 (UTC)
So maybe updates during the season are a little redudant, that I understand, but its appearing to me that no matter happens, you will refuse to change anything on the "future plans" section, when like I said in my last post, hes not coming back period if he doesnt play at all this season, because nobody is going to want a quaterback that sat an entire season out just because he didnt like the team he was playing for anymore.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 00:19, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Here's a word for you, then: Ignorant. Palmer is not retired until he files retirement papers and his rights will be owned by the Bengals until he either retires or decides to come back to play for them. That's it. There's no other way to go about this, which is why it appears to you that I'm just being stubborn. Eagles 24/7 (C) 00:50, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
You might want to read WP:TPNO, because you just violated it. Ignorant is an insult, stubborn is not. I havent given any personal attacks (stubborn does not apply) Good job.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 02:15, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
You're on his talk page calling him stubborn about some petty need to have non updates about a stalemate between an athlete and an owner. Move on with your life as will Carson Palmer.Zoro 1234 02:18, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Looks like we're done here then. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:21, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Zoro, you might want read my retraction. I admitted maybe i am being a little redudant and excessive. That does not give him the right to call me ignorant. Guess what Eagles247???? I sent an e-mail to an e-mail address i found on here to report you for that violation because i couldnt find an idividual place to report you. Just because you are an admin does not give you the right to call my ignornant even after i retracted everything i have said realizing that i am in the wrong.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 02:28, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Would you still have reported him if he was not an admin? –MuZemike 02:39, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
For the future, WP:ANI is the place to go to report incidents. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:41, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Not to jump in here after this is all but done, but since when did Palmer come out and say, "Hell, since Cincinnati won't trade me, I'm retiring!" All I've heard are threats that he'll retire or. Even if he sits out the whole year, he isn't retired because A. he hasn't filed retirement papers and B. he hasn't said he's going to retire. If the Bengals and Palmer haven't updated the status of the situation, how can we?--Giants27(T|C) 02:38, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Ok, your reported there too. And MuZemike, more than likely--Rockchalk717 (talk) 02:52, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

Tony, aren't these a little redundant considering the "More NFL staffs" or "More rosters" links on every one of these templates? I've seen complaints already across the 'pedia about this and before we continue, I think it would be a good idea to re-consider. Eagles 24/7 (C) 17:15, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
At this point, I have never, to my recollection, had a footer template removed from a template. SO I don't understand the complaints thing. I don't really think the more staffs thing is the way to go. I mean since when is it proper to create a list of stacked templates?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:05, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Can't you add the footers? I don't feel very strongly about them and honestly don't feel like doing tedious work right now. Hope that's alright. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:02, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Apologies

I want apologize for overreacting about the "ignorant" remark and calling you stubborn. Looking back i shouldnt of reacted like that. I have accepted why you are refusing to make any changes and i do see your point now. I will not touch the Carson Palmer article anymore. So i would like to call a truce. BTW, i know you changed it a while ago, but i like your wording on the contract Matt Stover signed shortly before he retired, better than mine. Ceremonial does seem less official than just calling it a contract.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 00:16, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for re-considering your position and I accept any truce or understanding between us. I hope we can collaborate more constructively in the future together. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:04, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Its no problem and I look forward to it. Just make sure if something changes on Carson act quickly, because if you dont do it, I will ;) with sources of course. Ha ha. Couldnt resist. Even then i probably wont do it. --Rockchalk717 (talk) 03:08, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Hey, if something (actually something!) happens, then sure, go for it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:11, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Lol. Well it appears nothing will happen. Carson isn't budging and neither is Mike Brown. Its a very unusual situation which is why i was having so much confusion with it. But i dont really think Carson is coming back and Mike Brown is stubborn enough it doesn't appear he's getting traded. "Stalemate with Mike Brown" should be official roster status actually. Just kidding.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 03:36, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

That "best game ever"

Hi. ... I was about to post this over at the article talk page ... but then checked your page and decided ... it was maybe best to just address you directly. If you'd just as soon have it over there, I can do a link there.

I'm not an Eagles or particularly a football or even a sports fan, I'll admit, and to put it all on the line for this edit I tried to add to this article, I am a fairly new Mark Bowden fan though I'd had long awareness of him, and deep respect for him, for Black Hawk Down before finally reading it recently.

The editor who evicted my edit said s/he didn't think AReid's involvement with Bowden's most recent project was notable, particularly in that I'd set it up as a new section.

The section issue is, from my point of view, my weaker leg. Except that I looked over the article and didn't find another better place. It's not "personal." It's all football, "Career" I think I put it under. Should there be an "Other involvements" section, instead, under "Career"? I've done those in the past, but first one has to clear the plural v. singular issue. I have no other involvements, beyond this one. Leave the head plural, in the assumption that someone will fill in at least a second before the inappropriateness of the plural head grates? Or go singular, which to my eye y'day seemed worse than just a specific reference to the subject of this particular other involvement; which, to conclude, I thought, in fact, was worth noting, in Mr. Reid's body of work.

I commend the underlying article to anyone at all interested in this subject. On top of it all, Bowden's a Philadelphia writer and (converted-to-) Eagles fan who was thrilled to have had Reid -- the top guy! -- contribute his time to the (wonderful, in my opinion) Best project about the 1958 NFL Championship Game. (It was particularly wonderful coming, for me, the same day I read the epilogue of the paperback BHD, wherein finding the films and tapes (in that case, of the Mogadishu battle, p 344-5) was a huge step forward in that project. And this is exactly, with the film, where Reid provided his invaluable analysis of the 50-year old football film to Bowden in the newer project. (BHD was 1999, Best 2008.) Check it all out, I'd encourage anyone.) The more I consider this, the more a different name for the section maybe would be enough. I had started myself with something like "Historical project" and then gone to the "best" quote. Since it definitely's not an Eagles "best," maybe that's what jars.

Anyway, I think it's the article's loss just to bounce this gem. Any ideas as to how to fit it in, anyone? Cheers.

  • It sounds a little stilted just plunked over here, but I hope you'll understand. Overdone? Well, I'm out of gas now, ... hope it ... helps ... some (-thing; -how). ... All best. Swliv (talk) 15:34, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
  • I think that if the book was notable enough on its own (and deserving of an independent Wikipedia article), the section could stay, but right now, I'd say it would be best for the praise of Reid to be here, as it is more relevant there. I get that you are a big fan of the book, but not every major contributor to every book needs mention on his/her article. Eagles 24/7 (C) 17:12, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
  • How about just an external link to the Championship Game article, in the Reid article, including a few words as to Reid's role? I think that would work for me, though I have picked up some resistance to external links. For your awareness, I did post a (slightly prickly, maybe) link to this exchange over at Talk:Andy Reid. (Then I went to work on a more constructive approach, and hopefully a resolution.) And, for the record for now and for what it's worth (if not too prickly), I said I was a fan of the writer, not the book. Any guidance appreciated. Thanks. Swliv (talk) 20:14, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
  • I don't think even a link to the article about the game is necessary, but if you can convince one person otherwise, then I'm alright with the changes. But I really don't think it's at all notable enough to include in the article. Sorry about being unmoving with my stance, but I seriously don't think his involvement with a book not related to him is notable. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:56, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

The box at the bottom of NFL roster templates

Where would I go to petition its removal? All it does is destroy the integrity of the template. It looks awful, it completely screws up the format, and all you have to do to get to the other templates is click "more rosters." RevanFan (talk) 11:21, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Debate would be held at WP:NFL. However, I see no precedence on wikipedia that a properly formatted list article constitutes 32 navboxes stacked upon each other. I made this footer template like I made the one that is used at the bottom of the templates like Template:1979 NFL Draft. The two evils are choosing between the default coloration of the footer and using a list of stacked navboxes. The more commonly accepted practice on wikipedia is default colored footers. I will raise this at WP:NFL. --TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 12:05, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Are you aware that the only one not working is Template:NFL roster, which works in Opera, Safari, Firefox, and Chrome, but does not work for the new footer in MSIE.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 02:14, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Yes, but I don't have a clue how to fix it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:15, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Actually, I was on my laptop yesterday, and it appears to be working for Internet Explorer now. Let me check again. RevanFan (talk) 14:58, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Dhani Jones

You probably think I'm trying to argue again huh? Nope, just wanted to say thanks for clearing that up on his article. The Free Agency thing, is not something I'm too familar with. I have a decent idea but I'm still learning. I used to only watch games and a semi pay attention to the offseason, i just got into the offseason like I am now just in the last couple years, so I still have some things to learn.--Rockchalk717 (talk) 21:08, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

No problem, and I found the "key dates" information at [2]. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:11, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

3rd template on my page

I don't mind a 3rd welcome page. From Lombardi, circa 1965, to the Green Bay Packers in training camp: "Gentlemen, this is a football." (and i think it was Emlen) Emlen: "Wow, coach, can you slow down a little." 66.234.33.8 (talk) 21:20, 22 August 2011 (UTC)

Can you go ahead and delete per my request? He got cut anyway. Baseball Watcher 01:56, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

If you were the sole author, I would comply with the request per WP:G7, but RevanFan also edited the page and therefore cannot. You are welcome to add input to the AfD discussion, however. I also suggest that in the future you wait to create pages for undrafted free agents, at least until the regular season starts, as many of them never become notable. What's happening tonight--some NFL pre-game or something? I didn't check into it but that was my guess, and so I chose only one day of protection; typically it's over after the show's over. Take it easy, and Roll Tide, Drmies (talk) 03:01, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

Mays was traded from the 49ers to the Bengals today for, I'm guessing, a mid-to-late round pick (he was a second round pick last year). I'm sure by tomorrow the vandalism will cease and I agree with your protection. Thanks, Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:06, 23 August 2011 (UTC)

User:1966batfan and NFL questions

Eagles, 1966batfan wants me to have an anti-vandalism alliance since with him since were both New York Yankee fans and both recent changes patrollers. He sent that to my talk page if you look there at the bottom of the page before he got blocked. I him gave some advice here. Is there a page that shows the 2011 NFL transactions? Also isn't Joshua Cribbs is referred to Josh Cribbs? WayneSlam 22:37, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I saw the message he left you on your talk page (which is how I came across his edits in the first place). I think there already is an anti-vandalism group (WP:CVU), and I would recommend not being in a different anti-vandalism alliance with him, at least until he has a firmer grasp of what vandalism is. On Wikipedia, there is no page entitled 2011 NFL season transactions, but the most up-to-date official transactions off-wiki can be found here. I agree with you, Cribbs' page should have him named "Josh," as per his NFL.com and Browns bios. I'll go move the page now. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:47, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
Okay. You're right. Thanks. The 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 season refer to Cribbs as Joshua Cribbs. Could you change it there too, please? WayneSlam 23:07, 28 August 2011 (UTC)

Mike Sholars

Check out Mike Sholars. Notability looks pretty questionable. Could be a case of the subject writing the article. Jweiss11 (talk) 06:58, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

I agree, I don't think he's notable. Some of the leagues he coached in are notable, but I don't believe coaches and players of the league are. Would you like to nominate it at AfD, or should I? Eagles 24/7 (C) 18:01, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
I'll let you jump on that one. Thanks. Jweiss11 (talk) 22:23, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
 Done Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mike Sholars (2nd nomination). Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:35, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. Very busy AfD. Seems my suspicions regarding the subject were not far off. Jweiss11 (talk) 04:06, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, that's the way these things go sometimes. Creators start claiming ownership, shout, edit war, and users who come across the AfDs automatically assume that the subject is not notable, without even looking at the article itself. However, Cbl62 is doing his best to give the article a fair chance. Eagles 24/7 (C) 04:09, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, this article looks like a vanity/spam project. If Cbl62 says delete, that carries a lot of weight in my book. Jweiss11 (talk) 04:15, 1 September 2011 (UTC)
Same here, that absolutely seals it. Eagles 24/7 (C) 04:20, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

I would but I've been "involved" in edit issues with this character so I'd prefer others to take a view and act accordingly. Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 18:10, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
