"blocked for unprotecting BLPs"[edit]

That's not quite how it went: the articles that Scott MacDonald got so upset over were ones where I increased the protection level from PC1 to semi-protection. The AN discussion is here. The Arbcom case is here, and represents an absolute failure of Arbcom to recognize the problem of admins screaming "BLP" in an effort to justify misbehaviour on their part. PC was being disabled on all articles, and, naturally, some of the BLPs that were under PC needed to be increased to semi-protection and others needed to be unprotected. Scott made a last minute effort to insist that no BLP could ever be unprotected. That wasn't policy then, now, and I doubt it ever will be.—Kww(talk) 00:59, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to make sure that User:Ealdgyth sees there are some replies on this page.—Kww(talk) 01:30, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen them. Your block log isn't that big a deal ... it's your views on User:Eric Corbett that especially clash with my views. My view is this is an encyclopedia - no one saves MY ass when I have to deal with insane POV pushers on articles - but somehow bad words are punished severely. I do indeed believe there's a pretty nasty double standard in evidence at times, and I just think the encyclopedia is much more important than whether or not someone gets called a name. I think editors such as Kww and GWH think WP is some kind of charm school. Eric Corbett 01:23, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gamaliel[edit]

re: Gamaliel, I think that he just blocked himself by accident, and then immediately reversed it. There was no two years block. Edit summary "Administrator fail" simply refers to his error. — goethean 22:10, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Note to self...[edit]

Yes, I know. I'm doing him a favor by not mentioning it ... at least as far as my vote would go. I don't see how you can call an article by a person's name when it only has three paragraphs out of a total of 79 actual cover their life. It really should be at a different title... and the only reason I haven't weighed in is that I don't really want to deal with the drama. Ealdgyth - Talk 03:42, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LFaraone[edit]

Thanks for compiling your guide. I brought Ubuntu (operating system to a GA, and answered the remaining questions on Saturday. LFaraone 03:31, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry for jumping in, but since LFaraone brought it up... LFaraone, I was checking your contributions to Ubuntu (operating system). You definitely made several substantial edits, but it was as part of a team, was it not? Taking a look at the article and the 2008 nom, I do see some of your edits as Firefoxman (talk · contribs), but other editors such as Falcorian (talk · contribs) and Miranda (talk · contribs) also seemed to be doing a fair bit as well, yes? --Elonka 04:22, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
