I was just trying to wikify the article. I find it unnecessary of yours to revert my edits. My edits were in good faith.

Learnerktm 16:50, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes, your edits were in good faith. However, 'wikify' usually refers to linking words or phrases to existing articles on Wikipedia. Like Wikipedia. Your changes were grammatical, and made the article less clear. I changed it back to restore clarity. Cheers. --Ebyabe talk - Welfare State ‖ 17:19, 15 February 2015 (UTC)

I got it. Thanks

Reply to your note on my talk page

In reply to your comment on my Talk Page: You suggested that my edit to Maz Jobrani was a "test;" however, I indicated in my change comments that the reason I made the edit was because of a radio interview I heard[1] where Maz mentioned that he preferred not to be referred to as the "Persian Pink Panther." He said that it came up as a flippant comment in an interview he gave, and it somehow ended up as his nickname in his Wikipedia article. He also mentioned that he had contacted Wikipedia to have it removed, but nothing had been done.
I am not a regular contributor on Wikipedia, but I use it frequently. I don't currently have time to devote to researching and documenting articles here. --Dotmom61 (talk) 19:44, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

As long as their are reliable sources for the nickname, that's what Wikipedia goes with. The subject's wishes aren't relevant in that case. A discussion about it can be had on the Maz Jobrani talk page, if desired, so pros and cons can be hashed out. --Ebyabe talk - Health and Welfare ‖ 00:19, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

I should have been more clear. I removed it because there was no article on Wikipedia for the individual. For 'Notable people' type sections, that's the general criteria. We will see what the status of the draft resubmission is. If it winds up being rejected again, then the individual will be removed, as they will not be considered notable according to Wikipedia. Museum of Art - DeLand, Florida article deletion

You claim that I am taking material directly from the museum's website and that is copyright infringement, yet you do not provide solid examples and proceed to delete everything I have edited. In regards to the copyright infringement, the article should be covered under the fair use clauses of copyright laws, in addition to that I have received express permission to update the Wikipedia page for the museum. I have been trying to incorporate primary source material into the page so as to reflect the status of the museum today. I have also been trying to remain impartial to my editing of the museum page so that it is up to Wikipedia's standards.

If it is a problem with the language used in the sections, I would really appreciate you to mark them so I can edit them. I hope to improve the page with constructive criticism because I believe the form of the article is fairly consistent with Wikipedia standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Spinna17 (talkcontribs) 22:53, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

That does not matter. You can't copy large amounts of text from somewhere without changing it. See WP:COPYVIO. And WP:RS, as that explains what is considered reliable sources. Which are NOT primary ones. Primary sources are actually mostly considered UNreliable. Reword the text, but don't just copy-and-paste. I have reported this issue elsewhere so this may be dealt with more effectively. Cheers. --Ebyabe talk - Union of Opposites ‖ 22:57, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Coconut Grove

Hi,

I'm a first time Wikipedia editor. I made a sentence about the Coconut Grove Bed Race to to the "Coconut Grove" page and you reverted it which is fine... I'd just like to understand why.

You're feedback was "Only events with wikipedia articles pls." However, the article also has a reference to The Coconut Grove Arts festival which has an external link (e.g. it's not a wikipedia article) and this seems to be OK. What is the difference between the way The Coconut Grove Arts festival and The Coconut Grove Bed Race were referenced? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Stacyhallman (talkcontribs) 00:47, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Like notable people, events should have Wikipedia articles. Notice that the other events in the section at Coconut Grove have such. Just create an article about the event, with reliable second party sources (not just the website for the event) and it should be OK. You can ask for more information at the help desk. You might also consider adding the information at WikiVoyage, as that site is more geared towards tourism. Thank you and have a nice day. --Ebyabe talk - Repel All Boarders ‖ 03:11, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

the tea party movement page

The problem I have is that anyone can claim they are the "tea party" There is no evidence in my opinion to say that the Koch Brothers made the first tea party page in 2002.Catsmeow8989 (talk) 16:15, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

The fringe left is inserting absolute non-sense into the article. The claim that the koch bros made the first tea party website is absolutely false. They removed the old introduction that was there for over 9 months!Catsmeow8989 (talk) 16:15, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

I wasn't talking about a new editor on may 30th. There is a serious war going on this page...the whole thing needs to be reverted back before april and locked.

Then argue that point. But don't change other peoples' comments. That undermines your argument. FYI, I think the obsession with the Koch brothers is a corollary to Bush Derangement Syndrome. So I agree with you to some degree. It's just your approach that is causing problems. Be calm and discuss rationally, you'll be more likely to achieve the result you're looking for that way. Cheers. --Ebyabe talk - State of the Union ‖ 16:22, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

alright, I understand. Catsmeow8989 (talk) 16:32, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Just so you know, the old intro was this:

The origins of the current Tea Party movement can be traced back to circa 2007. The movement's beginnings were kick-started by Republican Congressman Dr. Ron Paul in 2007. His GOP presidential campaign received a 24-hour, record breaking, money bomb on December 16, 2007;[22] which is the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. This event directly contributed to creating a libertarian revival and divide in the Republican Party.[23][24][25] Ron Paul continues to be a prominent force in the Tea Party movement, such as endorsing Tea party candidates,[26] and also giving talks and speeches alongside prominent Tea party activist, and 2008 Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin.[27][28]Catsmeow8989 (talk) 16:42, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Maybe the old intro could have been improved, but i think replacing that with koch bros, is just stupid imo. it's a 180 degree turn. Catsmeow8989 (talk) 16:43, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Fine. Then discuss that at Talk:Tea Party movement. That's the appropriate place to talk about article improvement. Please conduct the rest of the discussion there, as posting here won't help you in changing that article. I'm afraid I'll be deleting any further posts from you on my page, b/c there's not much more point. Cheers. --Ebyabe talk - Inspector General ‖ 16:45, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Harry Shum's maternal family name

Hello. I've seen you reverted my recent edit on Harry Shum's article regarding his maternal last name.

The alleged source (this) is a searchable database belonging to the Costa Rican Supreme Court of Elections, and therefore the page belongs to the Costa Rican government. The database gathers the data of all the people born in Costa Rican soil. Since Harry Shum, Jr. was born in this country, his data must be into the database. Searching for Harry Shum leaves an only result that matches the singer's date of birth and has "Kwan" as his maternal family name. Since there isn't any other result in the search, there's (theorically) no room for confusion, as no other man has been registered with that name in the country.

Of course, as an unexperienced contributor, I may be leaving something "uncertain" (as stated in your edition). Please let me know if there is anything wrong.

--AndSalx95 (talk) 06:21, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

That's is what's known around here as original research. A source must be reliable and secondary or tertiary. If you could find a magazine or newspaper article reporting this, it would be more acceptable. Please see WP:RELIABLE as to what constitutes reliable sources. --Ebyabe talk - Health and Welfare ‖ 13:37, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Hmm, I'm sorry. This is not the first time I got into a debate due to the original research thing. I have read the article regarding both reliable sources and original research, and despite I'm still a little bit confused about it, I think I understand the reason of the reverted edition.

Ansel Elgort Header Image Request

Hi, I'm incredibly new to wikipedia, but I've just had Ansel Elgort personally ask me if I could change his user photo to one of him preferably from the Oscars. I find that I'm not allowed to upload images (and I don't know if I could do it right even if I tried) so I thought it would be much safer to just inquire if you would be willing to attempt it? I would give him your twitter username if you happen to be on there (if that even means anything to you, I'm sorry if it doesn't, it's just that that's his main social media outlet) so he could thank you himself.

Thank you for taking the time and I'll totally understand if you just delete this whole thing!

Jaime Balaban Jackeloper (talk) 22:35, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Did you take the photo yourself? If not, what is the copyright status? Wikipedia is rather stringent on such things. The image on his page currently is actually one of the better celeb photos on here, I don't understand why he'd want to change it. --Ebyabe talk - Opposites Attract ‖ 22:41, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

No, but I used google's search tools to specify images only "labeled for reuse" and hopefully this one meets their standards? You would know more about it than me, I'm sure. He's kind of... I don't want to actually say vain but that's really the best word for it. He wouldn't want anyone to know it, which is why he didn't tweet about it in general this time like he did when he wanted someone to get "model" out of his list of jobs.

Nope, that's an image copyrighted by Getty Images. Pretty much any image you find on the internet is going to be copyrighted. The best option is to upload a picture you've taken yourself. Otherwise what's there is going to have to stay. Sorry. --Ebyabe talk - Attract and Repel ‖ 23:01, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Matthew Gray Gubler

Hi! I wanted to let you know that I've reverted an edit of yours on Matthew Gray Gubler. You reverted an unsourced IP address edit, but that IP address edit had actually itself reverted an unsourced IP address edit which deliberately added factually incorrect information. It seems like the anonymous user whose edit you reverted did not adequately explain their rationale in the edit summary, but it is clear from the edit history that they reverted vandalism. I also did a web search, and 1980 appears to be the correct date as per sources such as: [1]. If you think I've made a mistake or would like to discuss this, feel free to respond here or on my talk page. Thanks for your contributions! ~ RobTalk 02:42, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

Category:Atheist

Regarding this revert, pls note Lucretius is perhaps the earliest and greatest atheist in the world. He is the author of De rerum natura which is perhaps the only materialist/atheist poem in Latin. I categorized A.E. Stallings as atheist as she is the English translator of De rerum natura and seems to agree with Lucretius' worldview. But since she has not overtly declared herself an atheist I will not revert that. But I am reverting the Lucretius edit. And about your other reverts, yes, it is not mentioned in the articles of these writers but anyone who has read them knows that they are writing from an atheistic/rationalistic viewpoint. But since this is open to debate I will not revert them. But it is hard to find RS to establish the atheism of these non-English writers on the web. -Mohanbhan (talk) 15:09, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Just because they write from a perspective doesn't mean they believe that. Does Stephen King believe in the supernatural? Are murder mystery writers murderers? If you can't prove, through reliable sources, that those people were atheists, then expect your edits to be reverted. You are interpreting that Lucretius was an atheist. He may have been a deist. But without sources, it doesn't matter. Better not to add a category than add an inaccurate one. Thank you and have a nice day. --Ebyabe talk - Border Town ‖ 15:18, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
That's a valid point. Yes, he may have been a deist. But that's like Darwin having been a deist or agnostic, his deism or agnosticism has spawned so many atheists! At least considering his extraordinary impact on (almost) all subsequent atheist movements in the West he should be categorized atheist! But yes, the subtle point about whether he is a deist or atheist is open for debate, and thanks for initiating the discussion on Lucretius' talk page. A good day to you too. -Mohanbhan (talk) 16:41, 27 June 2015 (UTC)
