Invitation to join WikiProject Genealogy[edit]

I am extending this invitation to you because you are listed as a Wikipedian genealogist. WikiProject Genealogy seems to have ground to a halt, and I'm hoping to either "reboot" it or, if interest is lacking, eliminate it. If you are so inclined, please visit "This project's purpose" topic in WikiProject Genealogy Talk at your earliest convenience and respond to my comment. (You might have to scroll down a bit; my comment is mostly boldfaced.) If you are not willing or able to participate, please notify me of such in email, and I won't disturb you further about this matter. Thank you. -JohnAlbertRigali (talk) 07:59, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dundalk Cricket Club[edit]

  • There wasn't anything in the article to indicate that the club is notable per WP:ORG or WP:ATHLETE. "they were mentioned in the July 2010 issue of The Wisden Cricketer" isn't an assertion of notability per those standards. See WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:52, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to get into an argument, but I find it laughable that Wikipedia thinks it's above Wisden when it comes to cricketing matters. Mention in Wisden for any club or player is a very big deal in the cricket world, we are currently in the running for Wisden Club of the month for September.

The governing body of Cricket in Ireland "Cricket Ireland" thought we were notable enough to be mentioned in their 2010 Development Report, there was also the matter of our reaching the semi-final of a major trophy competition. EddieLu (talk) 13:25, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

More Dundalk Cricket Club[edit]

My suspicion is that your article isn't going to survive the deletion process and on the strict rules that's probably right. But it bothers me as a member of the CricketProject here that there seems to be a concerted deletionist campaign against cricket club articles (much of it by people who've not seemed to take much interest in cricket until now) and that information gets lost. To that end, I've taken the liberty of copying and pasting some of the info in the club article across to the section on Sport in the article on Dundalk. It could, though, still do with a reference or two, and I think you're better placed than I am to do that. Kind regards. Johnlp (talk) 17:39, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks John, I've updated the points total.

I think that yes maybe the Dundalk article is where the information belongs.

Good outcome. EddieLu (talk) 22:33, 27 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dundalk Cricket Club[edit]

Don't be too disheartened, articles come and go, unfortunately that's the way of things on here (I'll admit I tend to be a deletionist. It's good to see new editors with an interest in cricket, I know people can be put off by the faceless procedures on here. But there's a whole world of cricket on here that still needs addressing. There's still cricketers who need articles on List of Irish first-class cricketers, notable cricket grounds on List of cricket grounds in Ireland that need expanding with new information and referencing. The Ireland cricket team and Cricket in Ireland articles need constant updating, so there's plenty to do. There's thousands of notable cricketers on User:Bobo192's lists, one of our more long-term projects. Anyhow, I like to see people with an interest stick around on here, the more the merrier I say! Don't be too disheartened about the Dundalk article. AssociateAffiliate (talk) 22:13, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
