Women in Red World Contest[edit]

Hi. We're into the last five days of the Women in Red World Contest. Mississippi legislators[edit]

I run Against All Odds, a website documenting Black legislators in Mississippi during and just after Reconstruction. I noticed that you created a bunch of Wiki articles about these men, often using my site as a source - thank you! I was wondering how you got involved adding them. Personal interest, some other way? A colleague and I are working on an article about using Wikidata and other methods to increase discoverability for the men on my site, and we'd love to include the story of your involvement through adding them on Wikipedia. Hi DeeDee. It's a real pleasure to make your acquaintance. I'm a HUGE admirer or your work. FYI, I started Draft:DeeDee Baldwin.

I enjoy history and correcting the often widespread misinformation that passes as history. Filling in the facts and features helps uncover and enlighten. Thanks for all your terrific work!!! Part of the to-do list I'm trying to collaborate on here is at Draft:Missing Pieces (forcibly moved to my userspace against my wishes, but the link works).

I was curious about the white Republicans (also the Democrats who fought tooth and nail for "redemption") who served with the African Americans, and wondered if you think the scope of inclusion needs to be widened? I understand the focus where you have it, but I wonder if ultimately segregating the history leaves too much out and continues some of the Dunningesque misrepresentations. Anyway, so happy to be in touch with you please let me know if I can be of any help. User:KylieTastic and others have done the heavy lifting in expanding and filling out details on the details on these subjects. Incidentally, Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red might interest you. My real life is crazy hectic right now. I mainly love the puzzle of research and write about intersectional women activists, typically outside the US (I live in southern Mexico). I am not remotely technically oriented, unless it has to do with researching some obscure person or fact. "How to use Wikidata" is way outside my abilities.
