Azar Nafisi's biography[edit]

Dear Editor at Large, I noticed that you have reverted the last two changes to the above-mentioned biography. If you check the IP number of the person who has effected the changes, you will discover that it corresponds to an address in Washington, DC, the residence of Ms Nafisi. From the e-mail that I have had from Ms Nafisi's secretary this afternoon, I understand that Ms Nafisi is deeply upset about the contents of her biography (it also turns out that prior to my e-mail to her, in connection with her photograph, she had not been aware of her Wikipedia biography). Of course this does not give her any rights to simply delete what she believes to be inaccurate; public figures should accept the fact that other people will write about them, whether they like it or not. As I have no desire to become involved in this issue (which seems too hot to handle), may I suggest that if the deletions continue to happen, someone from Wikipedia (perhaps you) contact Ms Nafisi and tell her that if she wishes to bring about any changes in her present biography, she should engage in a constructive dialogue with other Wikipedians who have contributed to her biography and that such action as deleting parts of her biography can only be counter-productive. When I saw the deletions of tonight, I was considering to write to her myself, but then decided against this move by the consideration that I have absolutely no desire to become involved in an issue which is both political and highly emotive. Incidentally, with reference to your message of yesterday, I hope that you have by now seen my change of my earlier copy-right statement corresponding to Ms Nafisi's photograph. If you wish to leave any message for me on the subject, please kindly leave it here. With kind regards, --BF 03:19, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow[edit]

That has got to be the best user page design I have ever seen. I wish it didn't slow my computer down, but wow, it's sure worth it to see a page like that. —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  00:09, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Just... brilliant. Though it's missing a commons link, I think...(Never mind, when I was going to center the image and make the table transparent, I noticed the hidden comment - but still, the "wow" sticks :). Very clever indeed! :) ~ Riana 01:33, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Of course. I was just being a little bit picky, but it's your userpage :) (oh, and I don't think it would actually fit on 800*600, but mine doesn't either, and I seriously can't think of anywhere except public libraries that do these days). Will (talk) 12:43, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You have Google talk? Is it OK if I add you? (Note that although I use Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger about the same, Yahoo Mail is still my primary mail.) —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  04:11, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hello[edit]

Hi Ayelie, I just wanted to stop by to let you know that I'm fine, just busy. I love your new userpage! The new design suits your account name. How are you? You can e-mail me if you prefer. :) --Kyoko 13:21, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much, I missed you too! --Kyoko 13:26, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder[edit]

Hola Mentors!

Im sending you this reminder because you volunteered to mentor my students in English Advanced B as they become contributing members of the Wikipedia community. We start working with Wikipedia in earnest next week. I ask you to take a look at your entry in the Mentor Table at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors

Please update the information, esp. with what your technical and informational expertise is or, if you have decided that you no longer want to participate, please remove your information from the table. Please watch the pages associated with the project. Students will contact you via your user page and as soon as my students have user pages, I will put them on the navigation bar associated with the project.

I don’t need to remind you that your job is NOT to write their assignments for them, of course. I certainly will tell my students that… and the fact that you are volunteers that don’t have to help them… so be nice. If any students misbehave (tho I don’t expect it) don’t hesistate to contact me and I will take care of it. The goal of this project is to integrate successfully into the Wikipedia community. Anyway… what I really need your help with is helping students get oriented to Wikipedia, make appropriate changes and write about appropriate topics (see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus for assignments). I also need your technical expertise… I am only an English teacher after all! I appreciate what technology does for us but I am no technical expert!

Again, thank you for volunteering and you will hear from us again soon! Thelmadatter 19:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Thelmadatter[reply]

Based on your being a participant in the Dance WikiProject and "studying classical ballet", I figured you might be interested in joining the discussion at Talk:Agnes DeMille on whether the article should be moved back to Agnes de Mille from Agnes DeMille.
