While I was gone | When I came back

haha[edit]

Hey E@L! Happy Halloween - hope you're having a great time today! Thanks for the broom :p The "tall equestrians" comment was in relation to something I said on Erich's page about people needing to get off their high horsies ;) I'm glad you liked the vandalism.

On a boring note, I just archived my talk page - and properly, for once (you know, by actually moving it to an archive instead of copy-pasting). I feel strangely minty-fresh. Now all I need to do is clear my watchlist (yikes!) and I'll be free.

Take care, and have a great Halloween! riana_dzasta 00:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, we don't do anything for Halloween. We tend to view it as one of those American things, like baseball and aloominnum. :p I love your new userpage design, by the way - very cool! Although I'm not sure about the userbox at the bottom of the page... :p The Evil Vandal 12:49, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For my friend E@L[edit]

For being my friend and all that goes with it,
I, $PЯINGεrαgђ, give you this cream tart. Enjoy!
Well, here's another goodie to add to your collection! ;)
Well, on a slightly more serious note,
you've made me laugh a lot, that's a good sign of a friend,
and any Esperanzan deserves one of these, anyway!
And I'm tired and can't think of anything else to say… ;)
None. ;) —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  03:43, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(←)

You really are very kind. :) In real life, I'm just feeling a little quiet after something big that happened a while ago, although I don't think I'm actually feeling down per se. Maybe I should tweak the dials up there a little…

I am not really knowledgable about ballet, so I can't really do anything except push it towards featured status while you re-write it. Big help, I know. ;) —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  04:12, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:E@L[edit]

Hello Editor at Large. I stumbled across the userpage User:E@L a few minutes ago, and, since creating a userpage doesn't register an account, I'd recommend that you register the account so as to prevent impersonation. The {{doppelganger|Editor at Large}} notice will work perfectly for this, in case you choose to. Picaroon9288 03:35, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can't believe I forgot about this; usernames with the @ sign have been indefinitely blocked from being created. So there are no worries about E@L (talk · contribs · logs).
When it comes to editoratlarge (talk · contribs · logs), you can list them at Administrators noticeboard or Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents for violating the username policy, and ask for a username block. This will most likely result in a block, but last time I listed an inappropriate username at AN, it took several days for an admin (Ral315, I think) to block them. Seeing as the account has no edits, there is no need to give them the option of username change. You could also informally ask an admin you've interacted before to do it, which might get quicker results; however, seeing as they aren't actively impersonating you, there's no rush. No, I didn't delete it, but I did have it marked for deletion. I'll see if what I have it tagged with now will stick. I hate copyright paranoia. -- ßottesiηi (talk) 03:16, 3 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regardin Your Ramblins[edit]

You could not be more right! It acutally made me grimace to look at those, esp the one with the astro-turf. And that bride is wearing slippers, not pointe shoes!! Anyway, get rid of them if you can. Adoption[edit]

Hi, Editor at Large!

I'm Connie or lovelaughterlife, and I'm seeking to be adopted by an experienced Wikipedian. As of the moment, I am already adopted by someone, but feel that the person isn't helping me with much. Looking at your contributions, I think that you would be a great person to learn from. If you would like to adopt me, please contact me on my talk page.

Thanks! lovelaughterlife♥ (user|talk) 01:17, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's awesome! I think, looking at my contributions, that I'm doing more of the counter-vandalism stuff for now. With the Schools in Canada Project, I did start a couple of schools in my area and contributed greatly to the development of my own high school's article. Besides those, I just have some random pages on my watchlist that I watch over and make sure that they don't get vandalised.
I joined Wikipedia about a month and a half ago, so I'm picking up on how to create articles and stuff, but it's the Wikipedia guidelines that I'm struggling with when I edit and create articles. I don't know it well enough and I don't really have the time to sit down and read all about them :) is there a short summary of them by any chance? --lovelaughterlife♥ (user|talk) 05:32, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I forgot! Based on the comment under this one, Happy Birthday! --lovelaughterlife♥ (user|talk) 05:33, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday![edit]

Wishing you all the best on your birthday! From the Wikipedia Birthday Committee.
Wikipedia wishes you a Happy Birthday!!

On behalf of everyone at the Birthday Comittee and Esperanza I hope you have a great day, and I hope that you will contribute to Wikipedia for many more fantastic years to come! Once again, happy birthday and have a great day! Jam01 02:27, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I hope I'm not too late... Happy birthday! I won't ask a lady how old she is :) But I hope there are many more happy occasions to come! And I also hope that the problems in real life aren't bringing you down on this very special day. Lots of love, riana_dzasta 09:36, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday, Editor at Large! I hope you have a great day! --Kyoko 15:57, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the mille-feuille! Have you ever had it? The name literally translates to "thousand-layers", referring to the many layers of phyllo pastry that make up the dessert. In the U.S., they call this a Napoleon for reasons that escape me. The many layers of the dessert are reminiscent of baklava, but mille-feuille tastes entirely different, not nearly as heavy. Thanks again! --Kyoko 23:00, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I like cake, but eating it makes me feel very guilty and makes me want to burn off the calories. I've never thought about having pumpkin pie for a birthday cake, but my birthday's (Dec. 29) past the traditional pumpkin harvest season. P.S. If you would like, feel free to review me. Thanks! --Kyoko 23:10, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, thanks. :-) Mimes usually prefer invisible cake anyway. Regards.--Húsönd 22:05, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, es ist Ihre Geburtstag? Ein Glücklich Geburtstag, dann, zu eine sehr gut Editor! (Eine Editor at Large! :P)

I don't know if you know any German, but after what I said, do you really want to? >:D Just kidding (as always)! "Is it your birthday? A happy birthday, then, to a very good editor! (an Editor at Large!)" :P —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  22:32, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hat ich weißen, das ich ein Bild auf "Feuille" erhalten würde, ich wurde das mehr jetzt schon getannen! :P —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  23:04, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What the heck were you using? Uh, anyway, ;) I said (or meant) "Had I known that I would have gotten a picture of "Feuille", I may have said it sooner!" Literally from Engligh to German and back, though, is "Had I known, that I a picture of "feuille" gotten would, I may that more soon have done!" —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  23:12, 4 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! I think the names are finally picked out. —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  02:04, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That was funny! Another laugh to your credit. :) Well, if it's a boy, than his name will be Cliffton (carrying on a family name, as am I), but if it's a girl, her name will be Sophie/Sophia. And both if I get twins! Which in my family aren't uncommon… $PЯINGεrαgђ  00:21, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Coco isn't a bad name, but Apple sure does boreder on weird! ;) A bit of indecision on Sophia was all that slowed it, but about a month ago we realised it was about ½-way thru and no names! Well, her mother's name was Sophia, so that's also nice. —  $PЯINGεrαgђ  00:47, 6 November 2006 (UTC) Don't worry, the ←:← is coming soon![reply]

Happy First Edit Day[edit]

Happy First Edit Day, Editor at Large/Archives/November 2006/1, from the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Have a great day!

On behalf of everyone at the Birthday Committee and Esperanza I hope that you will have a fun and exciting time celebrating this day, and continue to be a great asset to Wikipedia because of your hard deserved editing! ---- Bearly541 talk 23:12, Saturday November 4, 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the cake, and the time thing was strange. Speaking of time, how do you format your signature with the time tag automatically? I am tired of using the {{[CURRENTTIME]}} template. About the birthday mishap, I must have clicked the wrong day! Well, you have two days to celebrate your first edit day instead of one. :-D Finally, can you please adopt me (I really won't be working with Wiki until December 19th to January 17th because of work)? I know HTML and Java, but little Wiki format. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thank you and have a great day!---- Bearly541 talk 01:44, Saturday Sunday November 5, 2006 (UTC)
My siggy works! Thanks! ---- Bearly541talk 20:57, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Happy First Edit Day, Editor at Large! I didn't know that your birthday was so close to it too! --Kyoko 02:43, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You really are a Wikipediholic, aren't you? To create an article with your first edit, and on your birthday, no less... Your Wikipediholc score's a bit higher than mine (2951.something) too. But this is like the pot calling the kettle black. --Kyoko 03:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Esperanza Newsletter[edit]

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.
Signed...
Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Edit day (2?)[edit]

Happy First Edit Day, Editor at Large/Archives/November 2006/1, from the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Have a great day!

Happy edit day! Randfan 22:28, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Post scriptum: I couldn't tell if it was your first edit day or not because a few days ago it said it was your B-day and on your talk page it has your first edit day before, so I don't know if the info is right or wrong right now.

AND HAVE ANOTHER CAKE JUST FOR THE HECK OF IT!!!!!!!!!

wait, I remember (I think) that you said you didn't like cake (on Kyoko's discussion page?). Well if you dobn't, just tell me and I'll get you something else. I like your 1st edit story. Hope you had a happy day! Randfan 23:25, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

about your mood[edit]

Hi there, I saw the edit summary for your userpage. I'm glad that people on Wikipedia are giving you support at a time when you need it, but I'm also saddened that you don't have that level of support in real life. I hope things get better for you. --Kyoko 04:23, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Seriously, I hope that you won't resort to — how to say it? — non-constructive ways of resolving your situation. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. --Kyoko 14:49, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to add this: did you want me to put you on the Esperanza Alerts page? --Kyoko 22:12, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's a relief. And since you're sharing, twice attempted, haven't yet succeeded. --Kyoko 23:02, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll try to follow your example. Taking antidepressant medication takes the edge off, so to speak, but it isn't a total fix. --Kyoko 23:09, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to be better as well. It's just not as easy or as quick to recover as I would like.
You know, you're the first person I've ever told about my prior suicide attempt (apart from in real life, of course, which couldn't be helped). That was when I was a teenager, and I was really messed up then. I thought that I was over all that, but I guess I was wrong. I'm flattered that you call me an inspiration, but I don't feel as if I've done anything to deserve that. Thanks anyway.
Totally unrelated, but would you mind reviewing me on Editor review? I know that this an awkward time to ask, but I had been meaning to ask you anyway, since I'm online, I might as well ask now. Thanks. --Kyoko 23:47, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm very sorry that you went through all that, and I hope that you get better. It's true that not everybody is able to handle the burden of another person's stress.
As a side note, sorry about the nonsense that's going on below. If it gets to be too annoying or creepy, you might consider mentioning it on the Adminstrator intervention against vandalism page. Thanks again. --Kyoko 00:14, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I wish I could claim that contacting WP:AIV was my idea, but it was actually suggested to me by another user, after the invasion on my talk page had already subsided.--Kyoko 00:42, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes ma'am![edit]

I know, I've been terrible. Amazingly, between editing, I've managed to complete a chapter on protein synthesis, but I really should enforce my Wikibreak now. The moment you say you're going to go on a break, your talk page becomes a hub of activity. It's shocking.

But thanks for reminding me :) I really do appreciate it... and sorry for attempting to monopolise your watchlist :p riana_dzasta 14:27, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No need! :) I'm on enforced Wikibreak now. Can't log in 'til the 23rd, unless I change my system settings, and I can't because my computer's locked. Take care, and I definitely won't be here 'til then :) P.S. if creepiness on your talk page continues, I recommend what Kyoko suggests... especially in the light of that user's previous behaviour. -- Riana
That was amazingly creepy - the question about nanotech came just as I was looking for information on porous silicon. Spooky! Yeah, I'm only in first year, so I still have time to toss options around... I know it's going to be Chemistry, but I seem to fall in love with each thing I learn about more than the last one, so I haven't managed to narrow it down much more than that. But you - law, nanotechnology, ballet... anything you're not interested in? ;) riana_dzasta 20:36, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Dude, -10 - please talk to us if you need to. riana_dzasta 20:46, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Break? Meh. No motivation to study Biology, because I'm on a high distinction average in it, and I'm not pursuing it past this year. Other exams are ages later. I know, it's a shoddy excuse. I just have no willpower, that's all. All that vandalism to be reverted... all those... wait, what the hell else do I do around here? :p riana_dzasta 20:50, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Tee hee! Replied on my talk page. Thanks for being a good friend :) Oh, and what happened to your beautiful talkpage? riana_dzasta 11:30, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's good! I hope your mood improves ASAP. PS if you're even vaguely interested in chemistry, I'm snooping around Portal:Chemistry - I'm thinking about adding some stuff (maybe a DYK section... and it doesn't seem to be updated as frequently as it could be). Feel free to join in - you're better at layouts and things like that. riana_dzasta 11:39, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Complaints?[edit]

I would like to apoligise to all who have fallen to my stupidity over the last few days. Firstly the whole navigation bar problem is fibe now, I am deleting it and I am going to get a higher user to design me another one, sorry to all users who were offended in those events. Also i apologise to Editor at Large. I tried to make a better tie to a well developed nation and i failed and then accidentally let Culverin loose on you. Sorry! Now that i have apologised i would like to make a point about using my complaints page when you have a complaint. So please use that talk page in the future for complaints.

Regards

Jamo 23:03, 6 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Two questions[edit]

First, have you been to Egypt to see the pyramid ruins? Second, how can I make a userbox and have it approved? Thanks. Bearly541 talk 01:19, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Namespace edits[edit]

Keep in mind that user namespace edits aren't frowned upon per se. On the contrary, sandbox edits which are applied to creating or improving articles are considered namespace edits. If it's a new article, then when you are done, you should move the article to the main namespace. If you are improving a lot of articles in sandbox pages, be sure to point this out at your RfA, so that your user namespace edit count is not misinterpretted. It just doesn't look good if you have 2000 edits and 1800 of those were to your userpage. But if they weren't then you don't have anything to worry about.  The Transhumanist   13:02, 7 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Editor at Large,[edit]
