Editing with a possible paid conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon

Hello Editor in Aus. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Editor in Aus. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Editor in Aus|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. --SamHolt6 (talk) 07:10, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Editor in Aus, do you know "Con J. Kittos" personally or professionally? GSS💬 12:47, 7 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am nor personally or professionally associated with Con J. Kittos. It came to my attention that this page was under development and I thought it appropriate to correct the entry, remove excessive sales-type comments and to tell the truth of his company having been accused of fraud in the ParentsNext contract. Editor in Aus (talk) 06:00, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Where did you get File:Professional Photo of Con Kittos.jpg from? You uploaded this image as your own work on commons-wiki so, can you please shed some light on this? GSS💬 06:04, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He has used this photo on various platforms and forums over the years, including LinkedIn and Facebook. Editor in Aus (talk) 06:59, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I looked everywhere and wasn't able to find can you send the link? GSS💬 07:13, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I found it from a news story on his company web site peopleplusaustralia.com.au in a news post. Also, try his Facebook page 'Con Kittos' and LinkedIn but I think in both those places you will need to connect as a friend Editor in Aus (talk) 21:05, 10 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The facebook account is https://www.facebook.com/kittos if you ask to connect with him then you should be able to see all his posts and photos including where I copied this one from. LinkedIn is https://www.linkedin.com/in/kittos/ and the image is in one of his posts from the Company that he reposted there but I cannot locate that again now. There is another post on his company site that has the same picture and that is here https://blog.peopleplusaustralia.com.au/news/peopleplus-continues-to-deliver-strong-performance-with-5-star-jobactive-employment-services Editor in Aus (talk) 00:32, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation[edit]

A sockpuppet (WP:SPI) investigation concerning your account is underway at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Olivalenzuela. You are invited to participate. SamHolt6 (talk) 02:01, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am not a sockpuppet and am not receiving any payment or related to the subject matter. This page was brought to my attention and I thought it appropriate to correct the record. There are other related pages that I will also be making edits to after this comment. Editor in Aus (talk) 06:02, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I am not a sockpuppet for any other user nor have I abused multiple accounts. I have only one other account and that has not been used to edit the page in question. A sockpuppet investigation will prove I have not abused multiple accounts. Can you please advise on the results of the investigation? Editor in Aus (talk) 06:24, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Behavioural and/or technical evidence strongly suggests that this account is a sockpuppet. Simple denial is not considered a sufficient reason to unblock the account. In order to be unblocked, you will need to convince the reviewing administrator that there is a better explanation for this apparent connection than the abuse of multiple accounts. Request reason:

I understand that my account has been blocked as I am suspected of being a Sockpuppet for Olivalenzuela. Please see: w:en:Wikipedia: Sockpuppet investigations/Olivalenzuela). The evidence supporting the Block is that (1) the account "Editor in Aus" has only been used to modify the page created by Olivalenzuela Articles for creation: Con J. Kittos. (2) that there is a photo I posted of the subject in Articles for creation: Con J. Kittos that may indicate it was not in the public domain. (3) I was also accused of a possible paid conflict of interest in making edits to the page referred to in (1) and (2) above. (4) Behavioural and/or technical evidence strongly suggests that my account is a sockpuppet.

I would like to address each of the points raised above to demonstrate or prove that I am not a sockpuppet of Olivaenzuela.

1. The account "Editor in Aus" has only been used to modify the page created by Olivalenzuela Articles for creation: Con J. Kittos. This is entirely correct. Earlier in this block dialogue, I explained to GSS 💬 12:47, 7 March 2020 (UTC) that "It came to my attention that this page was under development and I thought it appropriate to correct the entry, remove excessive sales-type comments and to tell the truth of his company having been accused of fraud in the ParentsNext contract. Editor in Aus (talk) 06:00, 8 March 2020 (UTC)".

I created the account "Editor in Aus" so that I could not be identified by the original creator of the page.

I used this account to link other pages in Wikipedia back to the page of Draft:Con_J_Kittos. The nature of my edits has not been to remove much of the self-promotion and lack of balance in the draft. I cannot see how my creation of a new account to edit the page in question, in the manner I did it (and associated pages) constitutes evidence of sockpuppetry and being related to Olivenzuela.

2. The photo I posted was downloaded by me from his Facebook page. I note that this photo is also located in an article published on his company web site www.peopleplusaustralia.com.au as well as on his LinkedIn.

3. The suggestion that there is a possible paid conflict of interest is hard for me to disprove. However, the nature of my edits indicates that I have been more interested in correcting many of the inconsistencies and claims made by Olivaenzuela.

4. I can understand why an Admin might reasonably argue that Behavioural evidence relating to (i) the establishment of my new account to edit the page created by Olivaenzuela and (ii) insertion of a photo is behavioural evidence that my account is a sockpuppet. Please see my evidence and responses to items 1&2 above.

In addition, it might be useful for an Admin to request a checkuser so that the Admin could consider any technical evidence which might support or reject the assertion that my account is a sockpuppet.

5. If you review my edits you will see that they have not been disruptive nor has it been vandalism. All edits have been made in good faith.

7. The Wikipedia page in question is in Draft Stage and the types of edits I have made are very typical of an early draft. My edits are not risking the project

Thank you for taking the time to read my response and I trust that I have adequately provided evidence that I am not related I am not a sockpuppet of Olivaenzuela.

Decline reason:

This lengthy request does not sufficiently address the sockpuppetry issue, which has technical evidence to support it. How did you come to edit the draft, since drafts are difficult to find unless you know about them? 331dot (talk) 09:49, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: Thank you for your speedy consideration. The Wikipedia Draft Article for Con J. Kittos was listed in a google search I have on this person and that google notification came to me on several occasions, that is how I become aware of it.Editor in Aus (talk) 10:56, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You will need to make another unblock request, to be reviewed by a heretofore uninvolved administrator. 331dot (talk) 11:36, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
"The Wikipedia Draft Article for Con J. Kittos was listed in a google search" (bolding added by me). Drafts don't get listed by search engines (see WP:Drafts#Finding drafts), so it appears that you are trying to deceive us. Tknifton (talk) 20:06, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Tknifton: I received two google alerts for the name 'Con James Kittos' from Google alerts referencing a page in Wikipedia; the last being on the Feb 17 this year. Editor in Aus, I asked you to provide a link "to the image" that you uploaded as your own work, but you have not yet provided the link. I looked at his website, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. and still can't find it so, can you? GSS💬 08:00, 15 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As per the archive version of the above link to blog.peopleplusaustralia.com.au the picture was not available when it was last archived on Feb 29, 2020, and then on March 15th it was archived again and there you can see the image. So, I have no idea whether it was uploaded before or after I asked you to provide a link. GSS💬 04:16, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I said right at the beginning of this thread and again that I took the image from his social media page. I did not take it from his website, I simply explained that the same image is on his website.Editor in Aus (talk) 04:52, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

original unblock reason

Decline reason:

Either you are hoping to have an unblock request reviewed by an administrator who is stupid, or you are completely unable to see how blatant and obvious your lies are (both lies which have been pointed out to you and ones which haven't). There is no possibility at all that unblocking you would be to the benefit of the project. (I considered removing your talk page access to prevent you from wasting yet more administrative time with yet more disingenuous unblock requests. However, I have decided to leave it as it is, just in case you may decide to make another unblock request in which you come clean. However, any more of the same nonsense is likely to lead to removal of talk page access. Every minute of an administrator's time taken up here is a minute which could instead have been spent on constructive work.) JBW (talk) 22:46, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
