Userpage Vandalism[edit]

{{helpme}} Some one keeps editing my user page. What should I do to stop that? Thanks.--EdwardZhao (talk) 01:45, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was a vandal who decided to target you for some reason, they've now been blocked and won't bother you again, I'm sorry that was your first experience here--Jac16888 Talk 02:17, 23 June 2011 (UTC)--Jac16888 Talk 02:17, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Quotations[edit]

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Quotations, there is nowhere states that the official websites are not the reliable sources of reference for his honors and accomplishments. What do you think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.192.197.80 (talk) 17:47, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Remember to discuss your changes with other users that disagree with you. Reverting without an explanation is probably not the best way to settle a problem. In addition, please remember to sign your name after leaving a comment. Thanks!--EdwardZhao (talk) 17:52, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Murder City Devils article edit was correct[edit]

Edward, please undo your revision of my edits. The changes I made were technically correct as they were written in the future tense, not substantially related to the History section, and should have been in a trivia section or removed entirely.

Ok, I will do that. Please remember to add an edit summary next time you remove information. Also, remember to sign your name.--EdwardZhao (talk) 18:28, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Violinconcerto[edit]

Hi Edward, thanks for the note! I know that there is some trouble, but I am *not* an organization and I am not promoting my site. I am just adding a link to my website because there is data which is not provided on the Wikipedia sites. My site is the result of more than 15 years of serious research. Therefore (and for different other reasons) I cannot understand why the user MikeWazowski is deleting my external links all the time. I wrote him and clarify the problem, but he does not answer and just deletes my entries. I don't know why he is in the position to decide what has to be deleted and whats not, therefore I am undoing his undos. Therefore the trouble and in fact I don't know how to solve this.

Best, Tobias (user: violinconcerto) (----) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.180.26.244 (talk) 14:49, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the advice! Best, Tobias (user:violinconcerto) (----)

Hello Edward, just want to let you know that I followed your advice and added information to an article and made a citation - with the result of being blocked! So this can just happen? Some people decide whats wrong and thats it? What can I do to get unblocked? Best, Tobias (user: violinconcerto) (----) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.180.35.186 (talk) 18:47, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh, I don't think you deserved the block, but if you look on your talk page, there is a link where you can go to appeal the block. As long as your site is backed by reliable sources, I believe you should be able to use it.--EdwardZhao (talk) 19:09, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

COI / DeLi Linux[edit]

Hello Edward.

I'd like to explain what my changes of the DeLi Linux page were about.

The old domain "delilinux.de" points to a webpage, that cannot be maintained anymore, becase the contract was canceled several years ago, but the provider didn't cancel the domain and the webpage (why? we don't know). The content management is probably not accessible anymore.

A newer domain "delilinux.org" was created be Henry Jensen (author of the DeLi Linux) later and it's currently partially redirected to the new official DeLi Linux home (deli.tavvva.net). But the "delilinux.org" domain has been cancelled too and probably won't be renewed after the following expiration date/time : 2012-06-09 13:07:51.

Please, look at the ConnochaetOS forum (http://www.connochaetos.org/forum/topic.php?post=7291), where Henry Jensen put his statement and suggested DeLi users to visit the new forum at delicate.tavvva.net. He provided me with all DeLi sources and removed the DeLi development section from the ConnochaetOS forum, because the old DeLi Linux doesn't comply with the ConnochaetOS rules defined in the Free System Distribution Guidelines.

Note, that none of the projects has a commercial character.

Please, let me know if any acceptable way of the URL change exists, because we don't want people to think, that the old DeLi project is dead.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, thanks for your explanation. Your username (Tavvva) was included in the link you inserted so it appeared to be a spam link to some sort of a personal website. Now that you have explained, I'll go ahead and revert myself. Thank you for fixing the links. Also, I have a questioin. Is "Tavvva" the name of an organization? If so, you will need to change your username (at WP:CHU )to something that represents yourself only. Wikipedia has a policy against usernames representing groups/organizations/companies. Thanks for your contributions. --EdwardZhao (talk) 22:35, 13 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Edward. Tavvva is just my nickname. I'm one of many opensource volunteers and making a distribution for obsolete computers is my hobby. It's a puzzle for adults :] I can expect only users from poor countries or nostalgic people who can't put their old (but still working hardware) in the trash. Thank You. Regards, Jaromir. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tavvva (talkcontribs) 07:08, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Edward.

I'm unsure if I was expected to revert the changes or wait for You to revert them. Please, let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tavvva (talkcontribs) 19:16, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article A roman scandal (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Title and description are a total misfit. Also fails WP:N and WP:V.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 17:56, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider giving this notification to User:Vicvalis instead. He might care about its deletion a bit more than me. I was merely fixing some style mistakes.--EdwardZhao (talk) 17:59, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Brothers Strause[edit]

Not really sure why that link got removed; it's a useful resource. It was previously in the article until it became broken. The location of the page was moved, and it was not 301 redirected. Here's your prove that it once was in the article: http://web.archive.org/web/20090830215243/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brothers_Strause — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mvwire (talkcontribs) 18:39, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

== JT65 and Digital Modes on WSJT (Amateur radio software) page[edit]

The link that I added, http://nw7us.us/jt65a.html (I hope that you looked at that resource) is a resource page for the amateur radio community that introduces JT65A and the use of JT65-HF software that enables an amateur radio operator who wants to try JT65A on the shortwave spectrum. The link is not a self-promotion; I am not trying to gain any rankings on search engines. I do not gain anything by the link; if anything, it increases the draw on my bandwidth as it will increase the download of the large PDF files. My effort is to provide these articles and the page as a useful one-stop introduction to help struggling new-comers to the mode. There are a lot of new-comers who do not operate the mode correctly, on the frequencies, and this is partially an effort to educate. The comments so far from visitors is that the page is very useful and has saved a lot of headache to those trying to get started. Therefore, I feel it is not a spamming of Wiki to include this link. It is a true resource as any of the other links already included in the Wiki article. After all, the article cites my CQ Magazine articles, of which I am providing the download PDF resources on my link. Thank you. - NW7US NW7US (talk) 18:45, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for explaining your edit. If you look at the post right above yours, you will see something similar. I would suggest incorporating relevant info from your site into the article and then using a ref to cite it. This method is preferred over external linking, especially if that page is part of your personal site. Thanks.--EdwardZhao (talk) 22:11, 23 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good call[edit]

It's nice to see someone making an effort to bring some focus back to the RfA process. 28bytes (talk) 14:27, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks.--EdwardZhao (talk) 14:29, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
dropping by to say the same. We need more users who aren't afraid to do things like that at RfA. Well done. Swarm 02:32, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with that action. Move it to the talk page or just put a small note in saying edits were removed, but it makes things less transparent and harder to look up when all you have is a lengthy page history, no timestamps, and vague recollections. If someone wanted to complain about Malleus' behavior there, then it would take longer to find the relevant diffs. But I doubt anyone would bother doing that because we need more users who aren't afraid to speak their minds. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 04:40, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok Fetchcomms. By the way, yesterday, I checked back on Richard's RFA and saw some more unnecessary stuff (calling people "moron") from Malleus. I was thinking about starting an ANI or something to get Malleus to stop, but as I went through the rest of his RFA contributions, they are mainly constructive. Maybe he just has something against RC.--EdwardZhao (talk) 13:58, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, you will simply learn that is just Malleus. An AN/I thread would cause a minor shitstorm, as usual. And likely nothing would come of it. I've found that the best thing to do is respect Malleus and when I disagree with him, to disagree silently. Wikipedia can't function without vocal people like him, although I'm sure many would disagree. /ƒETCHCOMMS/ 17:24, 27 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by May 20, 2011.
