Hi, thanks for message. I deleted your article, following its nomination by another editor because

  • it did not provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the organisation, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the organisation claims or interviewing its management. Most of the text was unsourced, but you gave two refs. However, one was your own website and the other mentioned the visit by a judge, which might be notable if it wasn't for the fact that he is your founder, which hardly makes it an independent fact. You need proper third-party sources, such as national newspapers or similar
  • It's difficult to see what makes it notable anyway; on the information provided, it's just another university society, and holding marches is hardly significant either.
  • it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic. Examples of unsourced claims presented as fact include: It is one of the prime sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) student societies in South Africa... dedicated to activism and advocacy... Its ultimate vision as an LGBTIQA+ society is to see the university become a place where LGBTIQA+ students experience no prejudice or discrimination, are free to express themselves without fear of hostility, and where the broader community at large is well-informed about LGBTIQA+ issues, and accepting of LGBTIQA+ people.
  • it's all about what the organisation does, little about the organisation. To show notability you need hard facts such as the membership, funding and expenditure, difficult for most student clubs.

You and your presumed alter ego User:ActivateWits have a obvious conflict of interest when editing this article, which you must declare. If, after reading the information about notability linked above, you still believe that your organisation is notable enough for a Wikipedia article (and that there is significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources), you could, if you wish, post a request at Wikipedia:Requested articles for the article to be created. See also Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.

I can restore the deleted text to a user subpage if you wish, but I strongly suggest that you read the notability criteria first. If you can't meet the criteria, there's no point restoring the article. I'm not unsympathetic, but there's no automatic right to a page, your organisation has to prove that it is sufficiently significant. I hope this clarifies Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:18, 2 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
