Petri Nets[edit]

Hi, El Pollo Diablo, Welcome to Wikipedia. I just responded to your questions in the talk page for this article on Petri nets. The article itself is a camel -- a horse designed by committee. I have routinely witnessed miracles in Wikipedia, and I'm hoping this article will eventually become one ... (visualize praying hands). As it stands now, it is a mess, but not as much of a mess as it was before I had gotten ahold of it (or so I would like to imagine).

Are you familiar with the LNCS volume 3098 on Advances in Petri Nets? In it there is a paper on Petri nets and dependability that you might be interested in seeing. In my response to your questions I mentioned extensions, and this volume is full 'o them. Rüdiger Valk's paper on Object Petri Nets takes extensions to Petri Nets to novel extremes. Come to find out, his stuff could be useful in modelling the dynamics of blood borne infection/resistance on the cellular level, so the application domain for Petri nets is really broad. Raymond E. Feist articles[edit]

While searching around the "What links here" list attached to the Raymond E. Feist article looking for other Wikipedias who may be fans, I found you. Currently I am working on expanding the related articles of the Riftwar books, but there is a lot of ground to cover with 20 books to look through. Blocked IP[edit]

The IP of what I can only assume must be all of Loughborough University campus has been blocked. While I appreciate that there has been a vandal from this IP, blocking the entire thing is counterproductive as there is at least one (me) genuine editor here. It's really a tough problem, actually. The autoblock is simply a 'secondary' block that happens to the IP of a named user when his account is blocked. The admin can't see the IP, so there's no way he can know what he's autoblocking. The autoblock stops persistent vandals or spammers from simple making another account and going right back to what they were doing five seconds later. The balance, of course, is that other good editors can get blocked for a few minutes, and if it happens often enough they stop contributing. I'm really sorry if this keeps happening - please hang in there and know that we try to fix autoblock damage as fast as possible. Kuru talk 01:01, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice[edit]

English Cup competitions[edit]

I noticed you had started creating more articles for FA Cup seasons,a project I started about 9 months ago when only the 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons had articles. Cheers for your response. The Carling Cup website doesn't have results but this link to Soccerbase does. I will have a go at the results for recent years and see how I go. FA Cup move[edit]

I've corrected the template; I thought I already had done so, but it appears not. Without having a script, however, it would be time-consuming to move all the respective articles. I moved that and a couple of others, due to GA or FA nominations, which would be best with the correct endashes in the wikilinks or text. I guess you would be better asking someone with the correct tools or scripts to move the rest of the pages with the press of one button. Perhaps ask at WT:FOOTY. Taunton Town[edit]

Hi, I've undone your change to FA Cup 1930–31 which changed the redlinked Taunton Town (1) F.C. to link to the current Taunton Town. AFAIK, the current club was only founded in the 1940s, and isn't the same club as the first Taunton Town. Both the FA (in their FA Cup Archive) and FCHD here refer to them as Taunton Town (1), to distinguish from the current club, which FCHD has here. No doubt if an article ever gets written for it, a better title could be chosen, perhaps along the lines of Accrington Stanley F.C. (1891). Gas Holders[edit]

I noticed you said you work on gas holders. I also do as an Instrument Techinician in the Yorkshire area. I was hoping to enhance the page with information on the workings of gas holders, however being as what was the Transco region (or NEGAS in my region) has long since broken up, I was wondering how the system differed from region to region as writing on their workings in one region only would be somewhat immaterial to Wikipedia. FA Cup[edit]

In all of your entries I have looked at you suggest that 'Some matches, however, might be rescheduled for the Sunday... '. This is incorrect, as no FA Cup or Football League matches were played on Sundays until 1973-4. I think that this was due to Sunday trading laws, and it was only allowed in 73-4 to get round the industrial problems which resulted in the Three-Day Week(Mundellan (talk) 00:43, 29 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]
