Help Me 1[edit]

how do i get pictures in userboxes: This is how I get pictures. I go to wikipedia. For instance lets say I wanted a runescape picture. I would search Runescape in wikipedia. I would click on the picture I want. Below the picture there is a couple of words. For instance the rs logo picture is called RSlogo3.jpg‎. Highlight that and copy that. In order to put that picture into a userbox you have to put Image: before it. You also have to put [[ ]] at the begginning and the end to place it there. Add |px(insert number) to change its size. Hello, Elderleo and thank you for joining WikiProject Swimming. We are glad you have decided to join us. We look forward to editing with you, and we hope you look forward to editing with us! One of the biggest tasks for us right now, is to put {{WP Swimming}} on as many pages as possible. For other tasks you can do, please take a look at our To-do list, and see if you can knock a few things off. Once again, welcome! See you around the pool, --wpktsfs 01:22, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removing bad stuff[edit]

When attempting to remove bad stuff from the page, you should check the page history (instead of blanking the page), then revert it by clicking on the diff button on the top of the list and click on undo. Amos Han Talk 19:49, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CSD tags[edit]

Just a friendly piece of advice, you really should use one of the CSD criteria when nominating an article for deletion. In the case of Emily tyson is gay, I have nominated it as an attack article (CSD G10) and removed your extra tag. Wildthing61476 20:06, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check out WP:CSD, there's a whole list of codes there that explain what each code is for. You may also want to look into using an applet, such as Twinkle, which greaty assists you in making edits, adding tags and cleaning up vandalism. Wildthing61476 20:09, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

deletion[edit]

please dont delete the speedy deletion tag thingy. If you think the page should still be there then type hangon thingy on the page.

That's not how WP:SD works. And can I ask if you have followed the debate on this before posting to my page? Sorry.Pedro |  Chat  19:57, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - I just notice you replied on my user page not my talk page so I missed it. You're wrong here I'm afraid. The person contesting the SD tag should use the {{hang-on}} tag only when the speedy deletion is contested by them as creator or supporter of the article. Here, the sd tag was been used to try and get encycolpedic content removed and was therefore vandalism. As such the tag needed removing - the deletion wasn't contested as the rationale for the deltion was spurious an not valid criteria. Hope that helps! Pedro |  Chat  13:34, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, Ive recently joined the WP:WikiProject Swimming team. Im committed to getting on top of the project. Since you have listed yourself as a participant i thought i'd let you know what i've done. Ive got a bot thats going through the relevant catagouries that apply to the project and tagging them with our banner. Ive done all the stub class articles and assessed them automaticlly, and im starting on the 3000 other articles that ive identified. So this will mean that we will have all the articles in the scope of the project together and we can start working on them. So if you have any spare time theres going to be thousands of articles that will need assessing. There are around 2000 articles Just in Stub-Class swimming articles, and most of these will need the importance assessed. I think it's important we get all this assessing done, so we can start working on the articles.

Don't fell pressured to start assessing articles, i just thought that since theres going to be so many articles, you should know that theres heaps of work that needs to be done, ill be trying my best once my exams are finished. Remember many hands make light work.

Request to participate in University of Washington survey on tool to quickly understand Wikipedians’ reputations[edit]

Hello. I'm part of a research group at the University of Washington. In April, we met with some local Wikipedians to learn what they would like to know about other editors’ history and activities (within Wikipedia) when interacting with them on talk pages. The goal of those sessions was to gather feedback to help design an embedded application that could quickly communicate useful information about other Wikipedians. We have now created a few images that we feel represent some of what our participants thought was important. We would appreciate it if you took a few minutes of your time to complete an online survey that investigates whether or not these images would be useful to you. Your quick contribution would be very valuable to our research group and ultimately to Wikipedia. (When finished, the code for this application will be given over to the Wikipedia community to use and/or adjust as they see fit.)

Willing to spend a few minutes taking our survey? Click this link.

Please feel free to share the link with other Wikipedians. The more feedback, the better! The survey is completely anonymous and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. All data is used for university research purposes only.

Thank you for your time! If you have any questions about our research or research group, please visit our user page. Commprac01 (talk) 00:56, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
