out of scoped[edit]

"out of scope" isn t a reason for speedy, You must have meant Wikipedia:Ambasciata was out of scope in WP space, which is correct, but what it needed was simply to be moved into mainspace, which I did

Did you mean to be editing with your SMF account? Such edits are usually considered to be in some sense official. DGG ( talk ) 14:44, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback[edit]

Sorry, I made a mistake not understand it yet [1] Can you remove it. :)--Sokac121 (talk) 12:07, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing personal[edit]

Greetings Elitra, I just wanted to let you know my comments are nothing personal towards you or the other WMF folks but the release of VE with so many problems is premature and folks have a valid point that proper notification wasn't given. Please don't take the following as a negative reflection but I wanted to clarify a couple things. People are frustrated because now, as in the past, it seems as thought the WMF doesn't listen to what us editors are saying. Yes you have evidence that you tried to notify users but the way the notifications were done and the places they were located gives the impression that the folks building these changes don't understand the community or how it works. You are also worknig hard to fix the problems but then releae the app to all logged in users knowing there are a lot of problems, many of which are severe. Then you act as though your surprised and hurt that we are annoyed. We know you are working on the problems, but so are we and we want to feel as though our voices are heard too. When the Visual Editor talk pages aren't filled with long lists of complaints and bugs, then we can talk about a widescale release. But there's no need to rush it out yet. Anyway, I just wanted to clarify that the problems aren't with you, they are with the WMF organizations's ongoing policy of doing whatever they feel like regardless of what us dumb editors think. Happy editing. PS, sorry they mixed us up.Kumioko (talk) 14:26, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your user page[edit]

Hi Elitre, when we designed the {{user info}} template, we intended to make it easy for staff to use it and edit it, so added parameters that would make it easy to update the relevant sections. I noticed that you'd substituted the template on your user page instead of transcluding it and presumed this was not intentional, so I've gone ahead and boldly switched it to the template, making a few general fixes. This should allow you to also edit your user page through the Visual Editor. Please feel free to undo my changes if you intended to substitute the template! :-) Thehelpfulone 21:12, 2 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Random act of kindness[edit]

Hello Elitre (WMF), Eduemoni has given you a shining smiling star! You see, these things promote WikiLove and hopefully this has made your day better. Spread the Shining Smiling Star whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or someone putting up with some stick at this time. Enjoy! Your cute[edit]

Just wanted to drop a note and tell you that. Cheers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.162.8.58 (talk) 21:59, 1 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tough job[edit]

Just wanted to stop by and thank you for keeping your temper when others are rude at the VE feedback page. I wonder why it never strikes people who post rants that WMF staff aren't able to respond in kind; they're employees and have to be polite, which makes invective doubly offensive. I hope you and the others who work with you are aware how many of us are simply using, and enjoying, the good features of VE, and are willing to wait for the bugs to be fixed, and are glad that there are people like you who are willing to deal with the vitriol that a few people feel obliged to post. Thank you, and please keep up the good work; and please also thank the others who are responding at that page. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 12:02, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dear Eli, nice to see you here! Jacopo Werther iγ∂ψ=mψ 07:39, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm really sorry! Temo che dovrai fartene una ragione! ;-) Jacopo Werther iγ∂ψ=mψ 07:55, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Detto così sembra un tantino minaccioso... ;-(
Ciao e buon lavoro, :-) Jacopo Werther iγ∂ψ=mψ 08:45, 8 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

VE[edit]

I need to get to bed soon. But if you're interested, here's what happened and what changed my mind:

Just before I left, VE was marked as beta, and the section editing was fixed. Soon after that, I realised that the changes up to that point meant that most of my objections were dealt with. I decided I didn't like VE, but would withdraw from commenting on it.

I actually went into the talk a bit hostile. I took notes. They start off with a lot of "This seems strange" "why would they do that?" and then those questions and doubts began getting answered. I got to ask a couple questions, and got really good answers...

And, after a little time to think it through... I began feeling really embarassed, and wanted to retract. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:54, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Get well soon[edit]

Dealing with VisualEditor feedback while ill is a true sign of dedication. Don't stress yourself too much and make sure you take time to relax, that way you'll get better quicker :) Thryduulf (talk) 16:20, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback[edit]

Hello, Elitre (WMF). You have new messages at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback.
Message added 22:24, 19 August 2013 (UTC). You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Wikilink[edit]

Hi! IIRC I used the modify button at the top of the page, typed in the stuff, selected the page name, clicked on the link icon and pasted the URL into it, then remembered about wikilinks and removed everything but the page name (keeping the underscores). — Preceding unsigned comment added by RainCT (talkcontribs) 21:12, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Updating documentation?[edit]

Hello Elitre (WMF), i usually do not complain (atleast not a lot), but i wanted to drop a quick note about your stance at VE Feedback as a software project manager myself. I realize, the situation is somewhat frustrating at the moment and developers notoriously hate writing documentations :), but a message like "If you want an actual user guide, write it yourself" (loosely paraphrased) is not OK. Last i checked, it is the responsibility of the development team or someone close to them to maintain an actual and clear documentation. It is not the responsibility of end users or eventual beta testers. Clearly said: if the user interface changes, the user guide and help files have to be changed aswell - as timely as possible. Please make sure, someone is covering this task. The user interface is not stable at the moment, granted. But this is a problem caused by the rushed VE release and its consequences should be handled by the developers, not brushed off to the community. After this rant, let me say that i truely appreciate the staff's efforts to solve the current problems, hopefully we can enjoy a fully functional VE in the future. GermanJoe (talk) 07:05, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Barnstar of Diplomacy
I have given you some harsh criticism in the past for one or two comments, but in general you do your job here (at Feedback) very well and patiently and give some hope that en-wiki community and WMF can work together for better solutions in, if not harmony, then at least understanding. Fram (talk) 11:53, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Opting in to VisualEditor[edit]

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 50 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 20:20, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

echo[edit]

Hi Elitre, let's try this new feature. I don't have any "notifica" (I've the italian settings) at the moment. --Rosa nero (talk) 23:00, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

incredible! I was starting translate the incipit of the page but you have conflicted me :) --Rosa nero (talk) 23:05, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
could we create a template like this? --Rosa nero (talk) 23:12, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
yes, focused on echo insted of VE in order to import this template on italian wiki --Rosa nero (talk) 23:56, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm sorry, because I don't know what is the logo and how to create an image like the one of VE --Rosa nero (talk) 12:44, 31 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

beh, in effetti... :)

--Rosa nero (talk) 14:44, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

good! e la striscetta arancione ce l'ho :) ok --Rosa nero (talk) 14:59, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please[edit]

Oops. I think you used a wrong bug, per comments 4 and 6.

... file a new one for me? Gryllida (talk) 08:08, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gryllida! I will look into that, and will let you know when I have an answer. I might hear from James before I actually file another bug or reopen that. (Is this better?) --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 22:25, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Gryllida, I think I asked James about this during the last office hours. This might have also been addressed before, but my question was at 17:17:50, and you can read James' comments below. If this is not ok for you, please let me know so that I can take action with a bug. Thanks. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 12:00, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It does look like he welcomes feedback from users about this topic (as well as toolbar layout) and filing a new bug with a link to the section I provided on-wiki (with illustrations) would make sense. Gryllida (talk) 04:52, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I lost track. Did the bug reporting go anywhere? I recall an additional comment but not reaction of the relevant people to it. Gryllida (talk) 09:07, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Gryllida. If I remember correctly, the point is: the current way of changing some visual preferences is editing one's own .css pages. There isn't an easier way in MediaWiki; some kind of tool or option for this is probably a common request that nobody implemented so far in all these years. So if such a tool/option does not exist for MediaWiki, the VE team isn't going to build it. If it existed, then they might reconsider if it's worth adding to the interface. As for the toolbar, see Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback/Toolbar#Some_suggestions_from_Gryllida. Notice that the toolbar has changed in the meantime, so you might want to provide further feedback on that page. For any issues, please feel free to ping James Forrester :) Best, --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 12:00, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I hoped that your role would include getting each feedback idea processed. James Forrester had shown no interest and I'm not interested in bugging him on a publicly logged medium. Publicly logged should be only two things: content and, if necessary, credit for the idea. I regret having to waste time talking here; the result is clumsy and useless. Gryllida (talk) 07:52, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've started a new T60904 that is specifically about wanting colorful icons, as either the default or as an option.
It may well be closed as WONTFIX, and, if accepted, it will certainly be a low priority (they're definitely not going to support multiple sets of icons until they think they're finally finished rearranging the toolbar), but having a separate bug for it should ensure that the idea is considered by the devs in due course. Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:58, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if my efforts were not enough, Gryllida. I did what I could to notify James about your ideas, not only in public if I recall correctly: let's hope the bug gets lucky, and thanks to Sherry for filing it. --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 19:08, 23 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rispondo[edit]

Va be', tanto sono uguali magari è più semplice spostarle su it.wiki. -- Yiyi (Dimmi!) 21:08, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ma va! Ho esercitato il mio caro inglese :D -- Yiyi (Dimmi!) 21:13, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

testiamo il revert[edit]

ciao. annulla prima normalmente questo, cioè cliccando solo su "undo" e salvando --Rosa nero (talk) 21:08, 6 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

perfetto.
--Rosa nero (talk) 22:10, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
