It was from 2006, during the filming of [[The Roots of Fundamentalism]] with Phil Cousineau, which was released on DVD. Thanks. Ellis408 (talk) 19:45, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Many thanks for your prompt response. But now I'm wondering if you're sure it wasn't 2005. I say this for 2 reasons:

(1) Digging a little deeper in Commons, I found that someone else had already uploaded your image with a slightly different file name, as File:HustonSmith.jpg (no space between his first name and surname). That editor self-identified as "Mondaymedia", and this was their one and only edit to Commons ever (in June, 2009). Mondaymedia was the distributor of "The Roots of Fundamentalism". They dated this still image of Smith as 2005.

(2) The Wikipedia article on The Roots of Fundamentalism says the film was released in 2005.

It's not a big deal, but I'd like to make sure I've got it right before I modify the image description. With apologies for nit-picking -- WikiPedant (talk) 00:01, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

PS -- As for that duplicate image uploaded by Mondaymedia, I have transferred all of its usages to the image which you uploaded. (The Mondaymedia image was being used by about half a dozen versions of Wikipedia in other languages.) OK, everything is clear. I changed the file name of your uploaded version to File:Huston Smith in 2005.jpg, updated the image description on Commons, and nominated the old Mondaymedia file (File:HustonSmith.jpg) for deletion. Well, the recording and Johnson were important at the time this was filmed - as a former advisor to the CIA and government about Asian affairs, he was outspoken in books, TV interviews, and newspaper articles warning of the coming 9/11 attack, seeing it as "Blowback" to US policy - the name of his first book in the trilogy published before the terrorist attack. He was also just as outspoken about the mistake it was for GW Bush to go into Iraq. Johnson was prophetic - but that was then. This talk was the culmination of his American Empire Project which reviewed the points in his three books on the topic, However, the talk itself is now available on YouTube, so, I agree to delete it - unless just being a page for a commercially released DVD is worthy of a page.
