Hello and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you are interested, or you can add it directly to your user page by copying the following: {{WPMILHIST Announcements}}.
- Important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, writing contests, and article logistics.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a style guide that covers article structure and content, template use, categorization, and many other issues of interest.

Spanish Aviation[edit]
The Spanish task force was the right place to start discussion and I am happy to help so you are at the right place. A few points need a bit of clarification on my end, what exactly do you hope to achieve, ie what is the scope of what you want to edit. Is this a history of Spanish aviation as a whole so including civilian aircraft and companies such as Iberia etc. Or, as I think is correct, you want to do a history of Spanish Military aviation?
If the Military aviation aspect is your intended target then the best place to start would be the Spanish Air Force History section. Here the main information should be listed or, if neccessary, summaries of other articles should be used under section headers. Take a look at the Luftwaffe article for how this works. There, the main bits of the history are summarised in sections eg Luftwaffe#World_War_I which summarises the separate article Luftstreitkräfte.
You would have a history section possibly laid out like this:
- History
- Beginnings
- Initial Spanish Air Force
- Civil War
- Second World War
- Creation of modern Air Force
If needs be (ie if there is enough information) then these can be farmed out to separate articles per the guidelines on summary style.
The best place to discuss this would be at Talk:Spanish Air Force. There you should find any editors interested in the topic or who have their opinions on how the article should work out. If you don't meet any people there, then by all means Wikipedia encourages you to be be bold and make the changes. I hope this doesn't confuse you too much and answers your question? - Hi Elloza, I'm a long-time Military History Project wikipedian and administrator, who's stalking Woody's talkpage because I wanted to see whether he'd answered my Royal query. Then he answered at the same time as me and there was an edit conflict, but I thought you might like to have my thoughts anyway so I put them here.
- The key point is what is your objective: are you expanding the history section of the Spanish Air Force page or creating a new page. 'History of Spanish Aviation' is a slightly different topic and needs slightly different approach. I think your primary concern is the Civil War; what I would do is sketch the air force situation at the beginning of the Civil War, (assume that what just the Republican air force), their history, strength, key figures, etc, then note that the nationalists formed an air force as well, talk about the formation of the air force and detail what happened with them.. then talk about the combat between the two air forces. I think you should make an at least one sentence mention of the Condor Legion because if I understand correctly they were significant in shaping the war in the air. If you are doing History of Spanish Aviation the Condor Legion definitely requires a mention, especially re the bombing of Guernica. Then note that the nationalists won the war, and formed the basis of the force that evolved into the 1940s etc. Include any information you have about whether the Republican air force was dissolved, or some pilots or planes or bases were taken into service with the nationalist air force.
- This could all go in Spanish Air Force#History.
- There is no need to treat either side as especially 'legitimate' or 'rebel,' as this really would be a borderline violation of WP:NPOV. Just write what happened, with plenty of good references, and let the reader - if he/she wants to - decide which was more legitimate. That's my thought.
- If there was an air component to the Blue Division, it would belong in the 'History of Spanish Aviation' but not, I believe, in the history of the Spanish Air Force. Kind regards Buckshot06 (talk) 23:42, 7 June 2010 (UTC)

User group for Military Historians[edit]
Greetings,
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.

Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR.
