Ferenc Rados

Hello. You just prodded Ferenc Rados for having no references. Actually there were a total of eight references given though in the form of plain urls inside the article text (which only show up as blue numbers in brackets, like [1]). I've fixed that and added a proper reference section but I just wanted to let you know that some new articles are a bit tricky and may require a second look before they deserve a BLP prod. Happy editing, De728631 (talk) 20:00, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi, and thanks for the heads-up. But please note that I didn't WP:PROD it, I only tagged it with {{UnreferencedBLP}} for improvement. Empty Buffer (talk) 20:03, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
Oops, you're right, that wasn't a prod after all. De728631 (talk) 20:29, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
No worries! I still should have spotted the inline links. Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 20:31, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

"obvious" hoax? What makes it obvious? Everard Proudfoot (talk) 22:56, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

OK, I wasn't aware of the context. Everard Proudfoot (talk) 23:02, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

the Kharz (film) is not obvious

hi man, my article abut Kharz is not Obviousive, plz remove ur tag from it. its a film abut a tribe which is belongs to iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan. my Language maybe a little wrong. but the article is totally true and right.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kharasan (talkcontribs)

Greetings...

Greetings Empty Buffer – sorry ’bout that! IOU1. --Technopat (talk) 17:17, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

No problem! I thought it was pretty funny at the time. :-) Empty Buffer (talk) 17:18, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

1. Hello! I just wanted to tell you that your attempt to output {{dated prod|concern = [[Single event that fails [[WP:EVENT]]; unreferenced.|month = June|day = 13|year = 2010|time = 17:10|timestamp = 20100613171051}} to the article failed. I think that the options are not available in that template. I have not seen it being nominated for deletion though.

2. How did you manage to see the article that I created? Heymid (talk) 17:19, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I made a mess of that prod, but it's now fixed. I don't think that it's notable enough on its own for a whole article, but if you can find references then we should add the event to an existing article. Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 17:22, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Regarding the new article, there are many ways to see new articles as they come in, but the easiest is to just click on the "Recent changes" link in the left sidebar. Empty Buffer (talk) 17:23, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
OK. I just wanted to know if you are looking in there, but anyways, thanks for the answer. Heymid (talk) 18:15, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Adminship?

Are you interested in adminship (e.g administrator rights)? You seem to do a pretty good job here on English Wikipedia. Heymid (talk) 17:41, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Why thank you. Admin would be very useful for doing anti-vandalism work, but I doubt that I've got enough edits logged to qualify: I've only had this account since April.
Thanks for your quick work on merging 2010 Vityaz Chekhov vs. Avangard Omsk incident, by the way. Empty Buffer (talk) 17:53, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
1. No problem!
2. I looked quickly at your edits, and they look pretty good and they seem to be in administrator class. You are doing a great job adding categories, marking articles for deletion and somewhat even reverting destructive edits. You are exactly doing what administrators job are: Doing the aftermath in the articles. Just keep on doing it! It's great! I think you are qualified for adminship, and I believe that 2 months is enough for requesting an adminship. If you want to, I am willing to nominate you, but I need a clear confirmation from you before I do it. Heymid (talk) 18:11, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Well that's very good to hear, thank you. I'd be very glad to get your nomination. Empty Buffer (talk) 18:18, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Hi. I don't mean any disrespect to either of you, but I think you'll have trouble convincing folks you're ready for the mop (particularly since you've only been editing for a couple of months). I think you might want to read WP:NOTNOW before accepting and transcluding a nomination. It's looks like you've been doing good work, so there's no need to rush things! Regards, P. D. Cook Talk to me! 18:53, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
And please, let Empty Buffer answer the questions before transcluding the RfA. Soap 19:00, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Mr._Bean's_Holiday (followed by) backs this up. 930913(Congratulate) 17:58, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
How does it back this up? Empty Buffer (talk) 18:00, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
My bad, I thought it was added before this. 930913(Congratulate) 18:03, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
Not a problem - I can see that some edits to Mr._Bean's_Holiday by the editor above did appear to support the contention. They've since been reverted by another editor. Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 18:20, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

Nomination for adminship

Heymid (talk) 19:16, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

  • I urge you not to accept this nomination. It is a virtual certainty that this will be considered a case of WP:NOTNOW and the RFA would probably be closed as failed within the first few hours. Administrators are generally expected to have a minimum of six months of experience and several thousand edits to administrator related areas of Wikipedia. Accepting a nomination now is likely to do you more harm than good. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:14, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
That's kind of what I thought, as noted above. :-) It's clear that the nomination was made in the best of faith though, and I was surprised and flattered to received such strong positive feedback so soon. Thanks for your advice. Empty Buffer (talk) 21:48, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
"Six months" – Thanks for the deadline, at least. Heymid (talk) 13:17, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

Harvest Tradings

you can put your suggestion or try to help me the article..as this company make contribution. Tradinguk (talk) 11:58, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

The company doesn't appear to be notable per WP:COMPANY, and at the moment the whole article reads like a brochure for the company. Please have a read of WP:SPAM and WP:Conflict of interest for more details. What contributions has the company made? How is it notable? Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 12:12, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Byki

I believe while writing my long reason, you removed the formats. I just don't like speedy deletions, only motivating the author for rewriting, not for getting rid of the article. --TudorTulok (talk) 13:32, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

What formats did I remove? I'd be happy to replace any accidental deletion I made. Empty Buffer (talk) 13:34, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Templates not formats. Sorry. --TudorTulok (talk) 13:52, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Oh I see. Sorry, I should have posted to your talk page that I'd removed the speedy deletion template. Empty Buffer (talk) 13:56, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Please be aware that schools are not eligible for speedy deletion under CSD:A7. I have therefore declined to delete this page; it's open for you to PROD or AFD it. Stifle (talk) 11:30, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

It's actually a language training company, although it has "school" in the name, and the company isn't asserting any notability. "Larry's School of Motoring" would similarly not be covered by the schools rule. :-)
Note also that Churchill House School of English was speedied as spam a few days ago, and its creator User:ChurchillHouse blocked for a promo name. Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 11:55, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
PROD would still probably do it, though. Stifle (talk) 13:48, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes thanyou appreciate the comments, I started the page with a view to handing it over to others to modify and take forward. 90% of the structure and guidelines for acceptable content were taken from an existing page from another company I picked at random to minimise the risk of contravening guidelines. I'll have someone else look at it and try and remedy the issues highlighted. Ive made some changes so its less salesy, appreciate it if you could highlight the biggest contravention as far as you are concerned. Thanks Sturveyeaa (talk) 12:58, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

I'll give it a look now, thanks. Empty Buffer (talk) 12:59, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Jumper Cable Films

A tag has been placed on Jumper Cable Films, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to an article talk page, image description page, image talk page, mediawiki page, mediawiki talk page, category talk page, portal talk page, template talk page, help talk, user page, user talk or special page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a mainspace page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Greetings re. Un Techo Para Mi País

Greetings Empty Buffer - I have just undone your speedy delete at Un Techo Para Mi País and have left an explanation at Talk:Un Techo Para Mi País. Of the several versions rapidly moving around right now, this is the only version that should be kept - suitably wikified. Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 20:33, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

I see your point, but then we'd be losing the edit history from the first version A Roof For My Country, which was created by another editor. Wouldn't it be better to speedy Un Techo Para Mi País, then move A Roof For My Country to that title? Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 20:40, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Greetings Empty Buffer - I think you'll find it's been sorted out. I hope... Cheers! --Technopat (talk) 20:44, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
No, the edit histories need to be merged, so I'm flagging Un Techo Para Mi País for G6 deletion, after which A Roof For My Country can be moved to the correct spelling. Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 02:34, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

The article didn't say it was the largest Mosque in California, rather the "greater Sacramento area." Big difference. --Mr. Vernon (talk) 03:24, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Yes you're right, I read that too quickly. But an AFD is still correct rather than a speedy, even if it's only the biggest mosque in Sacramento and the surrounding area. We'll need some proof of that claim, of course... Empty Buffer (talk) 07:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Speedy tagging - Swift Arrow Apps

Hi. Thanks for tagging this, and I have deleted it, but not for the reason you gave. You tagged it {{db-nocontext}} "insufficient context to identify the subject of the article", but it was clearly about the guy's new startup company or organisation. {{db-corp}} was the right one to use. It's important to get the right tag, so that the article author gets the right message. It's worth reading WP:CSD carefully, and there is good advice for speedy taggers at WP:10CSD and WP:A7M. Keep up the good work! Regards, JohnCD (talk) 11:40, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Also, if the author is a newbie and has not had a Welcome message, it's useful to give one before the speedy notice - makes it less WP:BITEy, and there are useful links to help him do better next time. {{subst:firstarticle|<articlename>}} is a useful one. JohnCD (talk) 11:46, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Thanks very much for the advice - I will read as you suggest. However, the article didn't seem to be only about an organization, as the article talked about using a Wikipedia page to list a type of application written in Python, which implied the inclusion of apps from outside the editor's own organization. So it was borderline between the two speedies, and I decided on nocontext in the end.
Regarding the Welcome message, I was using Twinkle for NPP: somehow the Welcome template got omitted, perhaps a bug. I'll try to check next time. Empty Buffer (talk) 12:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
No problem. I think Twinkle probably gives a Welcome message only if it sees an empty talk page, and in this case the owner had himself written something on it. Cheers, JohnCD (talk) 13:39, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of ADII

Dear Sir, I am a new contributor in wikipedia. I understand that the article "ADII" posted by me may not have met the guidelines of wikipedia and therefore you have proposed it to be deleted. In that case I would kindly request you to review the article "ADII" and guide me as why it is proposed to be deleted and how could I improve it so that it will comply with the guidelines of Wikipedia.--Agileaxis (talk) 12:39, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

InterGlobe Enterprises

You have done a very good job of despamming and cleaning up InterGlobe Enterprises. I am still not sure about its notability, but the article is certainly in far better shape than it was when I left it. JamesBWatson (talk) 10:43, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. And yes, notability is still in question. I don't like to spend much time gathering up refs for articles that started out as obvious spam, so I'll let the spammer do that, if he can be bothered. :-) Empty Buffer (talk)

Zaldy B. Trinidad

The article Zaldy B. Trinidad was blanked by its author after being tagged for speedy deletion. You then reverted the blanking, and warned the user about removal of content. It is true that it is normally considered unacceptable for the author of a page to remove a speedy deletion tag from it. However, I thought it might help to mention that an exception is made in the case of completely blanking a page to which nobody else has made any significant contribution. This is taken as indicating that the author wants the page deleted, and it can then be tagged for speedy deletion with {{db-blanked}}. Very often new users who don't know how Wikipedia works see an article they have created tagged for deletion, accept that the article should be deleted, and remove the content, thinking that this is deleting it. It is much better in such a case not to bite the newcomer by giving them a warning that they have done something wrong, when they were simply trying to comply with the deletion notice. If you already know all this, sorry to repeat it, but I thought it was worth letting you know. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:30, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Are you sure? I'm not an admin and so can't see the revision, but was certain I only reverted the removal of the speedy tag. I then warned him for removing the tag. If I'm wrong, please correct me. I do understand about blanking being a legitimate way to "cancel" by creators, and I try hard not to WP:BITE. Thanks, Empty Buffer (talk) 12:33, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, yes, you are quite right. My mistake. The author had blanked the page and then restored the material except for the speedy deletion tag. The result was that, when I checked the edit which was tagged for speedy-tag removal, I saw author blanking, and thought that was what you had reverted. This two stage "blank the article then restore it without the tag" way of removing a tag can be highly deceptive, whether intentionally or not. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:41, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
No worries! Keeping edit histories straight when it's busy can do my head in at times, so I'm bound to make mistakes. :-) Empty Buffer (talk) 12:44, 24 June 2010 (UTC)

Sure, happy to help. And your English is much better than my Turkish! Empty Buffer (talk) 20:55, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
OK, I've finished a first draft. What do you think? Empty Buffer (talk) 21:05, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

The draft has become very good. Turkish is a little difficult than the English. The English has become both a World Language and an International Language. For example, The word "you" means two ın Turkish: "Sen" and "Siz". Sen means only a person and the other means multiple persons.--Mustafa Bakacak (talk) 21:39, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Thank you very much because you have finished that draft...--Mustafa Bakacak (talk) 21:53, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, glad the article is improving. It's true that in good English, we don't have a word "you" that means multiple persons. But in several dialects there is a plural "you": there is "y'all" in the Southern US, "you guys" in other parts of the US, "yinz" in Pittsburgh English, "yez" in Ireland, etc. So maybe English is becoming a bit more like Turkish. :-)
By the way, I am listening to Ebru Gündeş' Ahdım Olsun and Akıllı Ol for the first time on YouTube as I type this - thanks for pointing her out. What a haunting and passionate voice. Empty Buffer (talk) 21:56, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
