I am very pleased to hear that you will expand the article. I am currently linking zillions of articles to ivory trade. If you can 5x expand it, it would be a great DYK. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:17, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

thanks - yes I will work on bringing this article up to date. There are currently articles on ivory, African eles, Asian eles, Elephants .... My thought is to make the "ivory trade article strong and then tinker with the others to point at this article where relevant. Does that make sense? (Enviro2009 (talk) 09:08, 27 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Excellent. If you look at my contribs, you will see that I linked quite a few articles to ivory trade (over 100, I think). In fact, I linked almost all that are possible to be linked. Hopefully, it will act as advertising, as editors who watch those articles will see the ivory trade link I added, and check it out. Ask if you need any help. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:13, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wonderful. Isn't collaboration good! I'm working Central European Time and will add some more today. But I'm a bit busy so maybe more tomorrow & Sat. It's a controversial subject so will be interesting to see what come back although I'm only writing referenced facts. (Enviro2009 (talk) 09:21, 27 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Splendid. I'm on China time, on and offline round the clock. I'm also on IRC, which might be very useful for collaborating. If you've never used it before, just click [this, enter any nickname you like, and you're on. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 09:34, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Are you preparing content and then pasting it in, or working on it 'live'? I want to section the article and don't want to give you an edit conflict. Pls advise. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:31, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on it live which I find odd. Because my internet connection keeps going down I keep saving it - but then of course unedited bits appear live. Anyway it seems to work for me that way because it builds on the refs. AS for walrus - I'd be very happy for you to work on that. I've only really gathered refs for elephant ivory although there is some mention of mammoth because it feeds the same issue. (Enviro2009 (talk) 14:10, 27 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Very well. So I'm still not clear if you will continue to edit live. Should I back off the elephant sections? So what about the sections proposed on the talk page. (If you want to discuss this on IRC, please do. Then we can sort this out in 2 minutes. Just drop me a line on my talk page to let me know you are there.) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:14, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good work! It looks great. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:13, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Ivory trade[edit]

Congratulations! Thanks to you, it is now almost 10 times larger than it was 5 days ago, and thus meets requirements for WP:DYK. It think it would do very well being on the front page. Would you care to suggest a hook? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:34, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You began the expansion on the 26th. That means it can be submitted at latest on the 31st. Then there is another 5 days to fix it up even more. So, bags of time. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:42, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well I'm still working on it - only reached about 1990 although the next bits will relate to re-opening the trade nd growth of China as a market. THat bit relates also to Chinese role in Africa. Maybe we wait a few days. AS you may have gathered I'm not very familiar with this process but appreciate your pushing it out there! (Enviro2009 (talk) 16:45, 27 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
You're doing wonderfully! Take your time. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:02, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Indenting[edit]

Just to let you know, in a conversation, you can use the full colon : to indent. For example:

This line has no colon and I like elephants.

Really? This one has a single colon.
You don't say? Well, this one has two.
Ohhhhh, big deal! This one has three!

Anyway, let's talk about elephants.

Sure, what about them?
They're huge!
Duh!

See what I mean? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:46, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yep I get it!
They have big ears too! (Enviro2009 (talk) 17:17, 27 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Gigantic ears!
And they smell funny.
Anyway, You got it. (Of course, you don't really need do it with your signature.) :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 17:25, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ivory trade - excessive quotations[edit]

A wise editor who does a lot of copyright violation work says that the quotations are too long. She suggests that we paraphrase a good deal of it. Would you like to take a shot at it? You seem to be very good at writing. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:21, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yep I'll have a go! Thanks. (Enviro2009 (talk) 16:01, 28 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Award[edit]

The Original Barnstar
For your excellent work on ivory trade and related articles. Keep up the good work. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:37, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks. (Enviro2009 (talk) 16:33, 29 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Oh my. I'm sorry. I've been mixing you up with another editor, "Sharktopus". I really have my head in the clouds. I actually gave you a welcome template and you've been around for ages. Ha ha ha. Why didn't you tell me? Anyway, this is a well-deserved barnstar. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 16:37, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure what Barnstar means - but I'm sure it's lovely! Did you see my DYK hook suggestion on the ivory trade talk page? (Enviro2009 (talk) 16:40, 29 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
A barnstar is just a commendation for work well done. You can glue it on your user page if you like.
I saw your hook suggestion and commented there. It looks good. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 18:04, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Matching the hook with the facts[edit]

Hello again. Please, if you have the time, ensure that there is a referenced statement in the article that matches the facts in the hook? Many thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:00, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK done it. (Enviro2009 (talk) 13:16, 31 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]

Hook[edit]

I am reviewing your DYK nomination, could you please match the hook to a fact in the article and leave a message for me on my talk page? Thanks, Racepacket (talk) 13:17, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How about changing Since 1970 to Between 1979 and 1986...? Racepacket (talk) 13:25, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was already 1979 and 1989 - thanks anyway - all OK now? (Enviro2009 (talk) 14:54, 31 January 2011 (UTC))[reply]
