Thanks for uploading Image:Kiffa bead cone.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Images

Ok for images that you create, the best thing to do is to upload them at Wikimedia Commons, which is here. It works the same way as Wikipedia does for uploading pictures, but lets users from all the projects (wiktionary, wikibooks etc.) access the pictures. They are inserted into articles the same way, using the name you give them, but Wikipedia automatically grabs the image from commons. The only pictures that should be uploaded here are ones with copyrights since they aren't allowed at commons. I'm going to go ahead and move the pictures you uploaded over to commons and tag them properly. You can click on the pictures to get the information. Also note that the capitalisation of JPG rather than jpg makes it another whole picture. pschemp | talk 01:14, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

I've moved these over to commons again. Also, when you name images, leave out the spaces and commas, it just makes the name more difficult to type and really doesn't add anything. pschemp | talk 17:36, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Wikilinks

The next thing to do is to put 2 brackets around words that link to other articles. I have gone through and done some of these. whenever you want to turn a word into a link to the article of that name, type it like this [[bead]] and that will make a link that is blue if the article exists, and red if it doesn't. Check the names of article though, sometimes they aren't called what you would think they are. pschemp | talk 01:34, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Headings and citations

Headings should divide parts of the text. When they are put in they automatically form a table of contents. See WP:MOS the manual of style for this.

Last, the citation style we use is very specific. Each citation goes right after the part it refers to in the text. For each type of resource there is a separate template which can be found at Wikipedia:Template messages/Sources of articles#Citations of generic sources. Each citation template is enclosed by <ref>...</ref>, which makes a numbered note. An example of how this would look, using the {{cite journal}} template for the first ref is <ref name = ornament1>{{cite journal| last = Allen| first = JD| title = Kiffa Beads| journal = Ornament| volume = 10| issue = 1| pages = 76-77| publisher = | date = 1996}}</ref>

This automatically produces and numbered note which is listed in the references section as such:

Since I don't know what information came from what source you used, you will need to match the sources with the refs. If you need help with the format, let me know. I don't know if it is difficult or not, I don't have the references so I can't see what information in the article comes from each of those.
