July 14, 2-7pm: Annual NYC Wiki-Picnic @ Roosevelt Island

You are invited to join us at the "picnic anyone can edit" in the lovely Southpoint Park on Roosevelt Island, as part of the Great American Wiknic celebrations being held across the USA. Remember it's a wiki-picnic, which means potluck.

This year the Wiknic will double as a "Strategy Salon" (more information at Wiknic page), using open space technology to address major questions facing our social movement.

2–7pm - come by any time!
Our picnicking area is at Southpoint Park, south of the tram and subway, and also just south of the Cornell Tech campus.
Look for us by the Wikipedia / Wikimedia NYC banner!

Celebrate our 13th year of wiki-picnics! We hope to see you there! Newcomers are very welcome! Bring your friends and colleagues! --Wikimedia New York City Team 21:36, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Bashar Murad

Hello FULBERT. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Bashar Murad, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: BBC, CBC and Globe and Mail stories in first ten Google results. Not a speedy deletion candidate. Feel free to take this to AFD - WP:NOTNEWS would appear to be a good deletion argument to put forward. Thank you. Shirt58 (talk) 02:33, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation Shirt58. I did as you suggested here. --- FULBERT (talk) 21:35, 21 July 2019 (UTC)
No problem, happy to help. Well, just a few problems - not so good advice on my part: WP:NOTNEWS applies to events, not people, which I should have known. Moreover, as a 50K-edit editor my best course of action would have been to find every reliable reference I could, and then use them to expand the article. Both of these things Richard3120 pointed out at the AfD. I've got my big boy pants on (despite being, as my username coincidentally suggests 173 centimetres (5 ft 8 in) not so tall) - happy to take on any feedback. Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 11:07, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Appreciate your feedback here, and let's hope that overall it makes a better article. I suppose we all have learning opportunities around us! This has been helpful learning, as I generally stay away from deletion of anything. Staying away from things does not help to improve, so good to know more about it. Shirt58. --- FULBERT (talk) 11:39, 22 July 2019 (UTC)

Move

I have moved Peripherally inserted central catheter back to the title without PICC in the title. This is generally completely unnecessary, as redirects can be used to achieve the same. When it comes to naming articles, the preference is for the most common name that one would expect to be used (as per WP:N). There is a separate argument for moving the entire article to PICC line because that seems to be the most widely used colloquial name, but I personally don't think that weighs up. This could be raised on WP:RM. Cheers. JFW | T@lk 17:04, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

Jfdwolff, Thanks for your explanation. Can you help me understand the process for a move, as I thought raising the issue on the Talk page and leaving time for feedback would be sufficient, but it appears it may not have been.
This is an odd article title overall, as few ordinary (non-medical) people looking for a peripherally inserted central catheter via Google would likely write it all out, as they would have heard a doctor or nurse refer to it as a PICC line. Perhaps that relates to the ongoing discussion you mentioned?
Thank you. FULBERT (talk) 21:44, 21 July 2019 (UTC)

Uncontroversial moves can be done without discussion, but if there is any dispute the process on WP:RM#CM applies. JFW | T@lk 14:18, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
