November 2020[edit]

Information icon

Hello Factelf4. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Factelf4. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Factelf4|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Praxidicae (talk) 16:31, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

February 2021[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from François Picard (journalist). When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Thank you. GPL93 (talk) 18:37, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Given your COI, you cannot remove these maintenance tags. Additionally, pretty much none of the reliable sources are about Picard himself and that is how notability is established. GPL93 (talk) 18:38, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello GPL93. Thank you for the feedback. I have added in some additional references about the face of France 24's nightly Debate show (with 15.4k Twitter followers). The nature of his job as a journalist means that many of the sources are articles by him. I would be grateful for your advice on how else I can overcome this. Thank you --Factelf4 (talk) 09:31, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
