Welcome![edit]

Hey, this is long overdue, but just wanted to say thanks for diving in and helping out. If you need any help with making sure your bio meets our our requirements for articles on living people, feel free to ping me. Steven Walling (talk) 18:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thanks! I have to admit, this wiki is REALLY hard to use. I know you're trying to change it, but the syntax is SO confusing. Oh well. My bio is kind of lacking... how do I go about getting it improved? I maintain my own bio here: https://factoryjoe.pbworks.com/w/page/12283808/Bio. I'd say the first thing to do would be listing any inaccuracies, areas needing expansion, or problem spots on the article's talk page. The next thing to do would be to gather independent sources that could be used to clarify anything or verify new facts. Steven Walling (talk) 05:11, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

November 2009[edit]

In a recent edit to the page Marc Augé, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to other English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the appropriate variety of English used there. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. freshacconci talktalk 21:53, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks. I wasn't aware of that. --Factoryjoe (talk) 20:12, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NASCAR problem[edit]

Hi Factoryjoe,

Following a request from User:Briansuda, I have userfied the article on the NASCAR problem. The copy is up at User:Briansuda/NASCAR problem. Feel free to work on it there, export it for use on other MediaWiki wikis using Special:Export and if you think there are sources to make it suitable for publication on Wikipedia (it would need to satisfy WP:GNG), feel free to contact me or another Wikipedia administrator. —Tom Morris (talk) 10:56, 18 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
