Hi Falduff, I see that you've recently edited the article on Na Fianna Éireann. Pádraig Ó Riain was a grand uncle of mine. I'd be very interested in learning anything else you knew about him or perhaps you could recommend any books that cover this period. If there was enough material for a standalone page, I have some photographs that I could contribute.

padraig o'riain[edit]

a chara, I know very little about padraig O'Riain. In the National Archives I read a witness statement which had been made by his sister. These are catalogued in the Bureau of Military History statements. O'Riain was detailed to go to Tyrone with the Easter mobilisation order in 1916. Something happened with him and Bulmer Hobson and O'Riain did not travel. Hobson was arrested by the Irish Volunteers and held for some time in a house in Phibsboro. Both O'Riain and Hobson did not figure in the movement after 1916. O'Riains father was a caretaker in a nationalist hall in Parnell Square and this was used by all the nationalist bodies for meetings and drilling. I think the family lived in the Clonliffe Road district. I think that Padraig O'Riain went to live in Hollywood, County Down, in a house owned by Hobson. It has been several years since i read all this stuff, so it may not be too accurate. Also, I had to get help in order to reply to your query, as I am relatively new to wikipedia. Hope to hear from you again on the topic. Is mise Fallduff (talk) 10:23, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing referenced material and replacing it with unreferenced and largely irrelevant material is generally viewed as vandalism on Wikipedia. In consideration of the fact that you appear to have recently registered, and are probably not too familiar with how articles are written here, I urge you to read the introductory advice at the welcome above. There is already a substantial article on the CID. Please feel free to contribute there on that particular issue. Regards. RashersTierney (talk) 18:28, 18 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you feel the term Oriel House is synonymous with the CID, then maybe a DAB page is required, but this article is clearly marked as a stub about the building, not its occupants. RashersTierney (talk) 18:05, 19 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Fallduff, just got your message. No offence taken, and welcome. Can you sign your posts on Talk Pages by typing four tildes (press Shift(the 'up arrow'), and simultaneously the '# key' 4 times) . The main thing to remember with Wikipedia is that it has little value unless material can be backed up with references, otherwise its just, well, the opinion of some anonymous person with - an opinion. Best. RashersTierney (talk) 19:48, 1 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

murdered republicans in Dublin[edit]

Hi, I've edited these out of the CID page, not because I thinks it's inaccurate but it's not the article for listing all the individual cases of killings during the civil war. I sugggest you include them in the Timeline of the Irish Civil War article, which already lists soem of these incidents.

This is acutally something I've very interested in though. Where did you get your info? I'd like to look it up myself if poss.

Some other stuff I've edited out of teh CID article because it repeated info that was already there, or because it was a bit partisan.
