• I just followed along, actually it was @Ythlev: that took the initiative (edit 948822341). I agree with it (it's non sense to keep displaying one million with that many zeroes in numeric form), so I just rolled along because I saw no one complaining. Now it's when the 3 significant figures shines (instead of 102,000,000 we have 1.02 million, best format for readers to raed (imo)).Feelthhis (talk) 14:34, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

How to reverse a redirect? (from A→B to B→A)

There is an article called Leonard Komon (athlete). The complete name of this athlete is Leonard Patrick Komon. So I just wanted to move the article to his complete name and then create a redirect from Leonard Komon to Leonard Patrick Komon.

But it just so happens that Leonard Patrick Komon already exists as a redirect to current article Leonard Komon, which is exactly the opposite of what should've been.

I tried a renaming trick with no success and it left behind a redirect that I can't remove.

Thanks for the question. From what I have seen there should be no problem if you move "A" to "B", which from my tests yield what you want. Keep in mind though, middle names are typically not included in page titles, like the page Donald Trump is not called Donald John Trump. Hence, it is technically possible, but I'd discourage it. See WP:NCP: Most biographical articles have titles in the form <First name> <Last name>, as with Albert Einstein and Margaret Thatcher. @Eumat114:When I try to move A to B but B already exists, like in the example, I get the error. So, first, I tried renaming B to B(temp) which doesn't work because B will still exist. Any way to workaround this? Following your guideline I found WP:NCSP which precisely applies to the articles I'm seeing (thank you!), but I can't fix some of the athletes articles because of this issue. Feelthhis, is B an article or a redirect? If it's an article then creating a temp page is needed. If B is a redirect then as tested in my userspace, I don't see any problems. @Eumat114: A is the article and B is a redirect to A. This still doesn't work. I just tried moving Gladys Cherono Kiprono to Gladys Cherono and I get the same error The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid. Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

using {{r}} with {{excerpt}}

Quick definitions:

Source article: article being used to source material to the calling article

Calling article: article displaying an excerpt of the source article via {{excerpt}}

I tried using {{r}} with {{excerpt}} and the result is: it works in the source article but it does not work in the calling article.

Example: I had to undo my attempt in order to keep the COVID-19 Pandemic (calling article) error-free in the ref department.

Why: I wanted to insert a quote inside an inline citation (as seen in the example), and the {{r}} template was the solution I found. If there is other solution, please let me know.

I don't know how many other editors have taken a look at this. I've spent a little time and I still haven't figured out what problem you are having.

If the defining reference for refname is outside the scope of the excerpt, I can see why that would fail.

What I see from your history is

• an insertion of {{excerpt}} in COVID-19 pandemic calling in the first paragraph of text from COVID-19 vaccine
• a use of {{r}} in Transmission of COVID-19 which you subsequently backed out

But I remain a bit mystified about what you tried or what you saw that led you to the conclusion it "does not work". Can you provide more detail or, optimally, a small sample that demonstrates the "does not work" part? You do realize that the quote part from {{r}} shows up as a pop-up (think tooltip) attached to an underline under the page number; it does not get merged into the ref at the bottom of the page. — jmcgnh^{(talk) (contribs)} 01:36, 8 October 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for looking into this. (below, source is Transmission of COVID-19#top and target is COVID-19 Pandemic#Transmission).

The error is: in the example I gave, in the 3rd paragraph of source, the ref is not rendered correctly in the target article when it's invoked by {{r}} (instead, it raises a "reference not defined" error* in red colour). Whereas in the first paragraph of target, this same ref is rendered correctly when it's invoked by <ref name>.

*I'm not 100% sure it was "not defined" error, but it was an error in red. Reproducing this would involve submitting an edit to the source using {{r}}.

The tooltip behaviour you described is exactly what I'm looking for, so that we don't need to duplicate the ref just to add a quote.

If you allow me a second question: when the exact same ref is defined in multiple sources, the target would display them multiple times. I tried setting them up exactly the same in the source articles but that didn't work. Example: the source entitled "Q & A on COVID-19: Basic facts" in COVID-19 Pandemic. It shows up two times, one for each source (Coronavirus disease 2019 and Transmission of COVID-19), even though they're set up exactly the same in the sources (ref name="ECDCQA"). It's a pain when you've made a good, reasoned argument and it gets rejected. But in the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal. If the tozinameran name gets used more, there will be a better case to move back to the INN name. For now, I can understand folks not wanting to use a name that we don't see much in the sources so far (even if I don't agree with them). Hello! Would you be able to fix this?

Hi, I am adding more information to the Microsoft Defender Wikipedia page, and I noticed that when I added a new image to the advanced feature section, the text is to right of the image instead of on top (Controlled Folder Access)

I don't understand how to fix this 😓

Hi Win32SasserB! The fix is to put the image below the section title and then put {{clear}} at the end of the section. Like this:
