Major overhaul of article[edit]

  • Please don't do anything to the article page of Python (missile) as I'm currently performing a major overhaul there. FYI, your last edit just cost me 3 hours of work lost and I'm not about to blow my top at you so please, just give me the time that I require to finish updating it and you are free to do whatever you desire after I take down the "GOCE" tag, okay? Thank you for your understanding~! --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 20:58, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Another thing before I complete the overhaul, I need to confirm with you that "Shafrir" is Hebrew (שפירית) for Dragonfly, am I correct? --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 22:18, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry for the lost effort. "Shafrir" in Hebrew (שפריר) refers to Callionymidae or Dragonet. (Compare to "Shapirit" = (שפירית) Dragonfly). Flayer (talk) 22:29, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I used Reuven Alkalay's complete Hebrew dictionary. Dragonfly in Hebrew = Shapirit שפירית, Damselfly in Hebrew = Shafririt (שפרירית). Flayer (talk) 23:36, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Let's not forget that the Jewish population in Israel back then was from many different countries and background, some kind of confusions and misspellings was bound to happen somewhere. Well, I'm going with the Hebrew Wikipedia version of the Python missile article so I'm sticking to Shafrir as Dragonfly. Lastly, I've completed the overhaul and taken down the "GOCE" tag, best and out~! --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 23:52, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hebrew version of the article says that "Shafrir" is an inflection of "Shafririt", which is also true. "Shafririt" means Damselfly, not Dragonfly. Flayer (talk) 00:01, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Confusing but I'm guessing that they didn't want to name something for a girlish sounding one, read as in Damsel in distress, maybe that's the reason why the male inflection was chosen could also be a preference for the Dragonfly over the Damselfly. From my experience, people in this business can be quite superstitious at times. Let's stick with Dragonfly and avoid the Damselfly part, shall we? FWIW, we need to stay true to their spirit when commenting or writing on such touchy issues. No? --Dave ♠♣♥♦™№1185©♪♫® 00:28, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It would be absolutely incorrect to say that Shafrir in Hebrew means Dragonfly. Dragonfly in Hebrew - Shapirit (male inflection would be Shafir or Shapir, not Shafrir) So "Shafrir" is either a male inflection of Shafririt (Damselfly), or a kind of fish - Dragonet. Flayer (talk) 09:18, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've just seen your last edit - very well! The naming issue is explained correctly. Flayer (talk) 09:26, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why did you remove the IISS refs? Flayer (talk) 19:13, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for edit warring[edit]

I have blocked you and the other involved user for the edit warring (which definitely exceeded the three-revert rule) on both EL/M-2075 & Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye. You both have a history of edit warring. You both have been blocked before for edit warring. You both should know better. Once the blocks expire, I encourage both of you to visit a talk page, and attempt to reach some sort of consensus about the dispute. In this particular case, perhaps I can point you to WP:RSN? As always, you may appeal this block by adding {{unblock|your reason here}} to this page. Rjd0060 (talk) 12:54, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is only one Namer APC in IDF today - an APC based on Merkava mk4 hull in serial production. The name 'Namera' today refers only to an ARV, with a winch and a crane. Read the article before you attempt to edit it. Flayer (talk) 13:20, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deputy leaders of the thirty-third Israeli government[edit]

Hi. A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Gaza beach explosion (2006) should be moved to Israeli bombing of the Gaza beach (2006). I would like to know your opinion about this issue.--Mevarus (talk) 01:48, 5 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for taking an initiative formatting the article without preliminary discussion. The section is simply in unreadable condition and jumps from one subject to another. Some information is twisted and although solid references are provided, it is paraphrased in non-neutral view. Some information, particularly the Ukrainian volunteer battalions, is obsolete as many of them were converted into regular army units, due to a critical situation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 210th Regional Bashan Division[edit]

Hello Nathan Is there any info on what units belong to this new division on the Golan heights? And what command has now control of the 36th Armor Division? Here is an article I found about it... but it has no usable info as to which units make up the new division: [1]. Cheers, noclador (talk) 05:39, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Noclador, 36th Armor Division remains in Northern command (along with 91st "Galilee" Division, 319th "Ha-Mapatz" Armor Division, 143rd "Etgar" Armor division, and 210th "Bashan" Division). Apparently 210th Division now has the re-establishe 810th "Hermon" (Territorial) Brigade, which is also the base of the speical Alpinist Unit, 474th (Territorial) Brigade that was in 36th Armor Division, a new Field Intel. Battalion - 595th "Ayit", and maybe some more units. Cheers! Flayer (talk) 07:43, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
thank you for the info. I was a bit confused as the Hebrew wiki said that the 366th "Amud ha-Esh" Armor Division is now the 210th "Bashan" Division he:אוגדת_הבשן, which would mean that Southern Command doesn't have an active division anymore. I will add your info now to the Northern Command article. Cheers, noclador (talk) 21:06, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What?[edit]

There must be something wrong with the maximum range. I can only think that either an extra zero on. 25,000 meters is well over 15 miles; well above that of some modern light artillery pieces. Please correct this and cite the resource used. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.87.77.26 (talk) 14:41, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What are you talking about? Flayer (talk) 17:17, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Under maximum firing range for the Spike ATGM is listed as "800-25,000m". I would stake my life that is not correct. That is over 15 miles. Look at the maximum range for comparable weapons systems such as the Dragon and the Javelin and you'll find a maximum range of 2,500 meters. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.87.77.26 (talk) 17:49, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, well, the Spike missile family consists of VERY different missiles. Spike NLOS is absolutely not comparable to ATGMs such as Dragon, Javelin, TOW, or Kornet. It is not man-portable, it is larger, heavier, with different launching system, different navigation system, and, yes, it has a range of 25km. Flayer (talk) 19:31, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi User:Amitayzl, do you mean Turkish and Spanish ranks? Because there is nothing significant in comparing Israeli ranks with Turkish and Spanish ranks. Flayer (talk) 15:22, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No. I ment to that edit. Amitayzl (talk) 16:16, 15 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, OK User:Amitayzl, I was just trying to make the head of the article look better with the new embedded video. Keeping both the template and the video makes the entire ranks table look squeezed, at least with some screen resolutions on PC's. This is because the template+video are longer than the lead+contentbox. So I assumed the template is no so important, because it has nothing but an image. Flayer (talk)

Barak8 vs Barak1[edit]

Hi, Your edits on Barak8 and Barak1 were reverted. INS Vikramaditya was installed with Barak 1 which was previously installed on the now decommissioned INS Godavari (F20). The official Indian Navy statement does not make any mention of which one but it can be deduced based on earlier references which system was installed. Here are some links for your reference. Replaceable fair use File:EL-M-2080 Green Pine.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:EL-M-2080 Green Pine.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Train2104 (t • c) 15:58, 29 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question for you[edit]

I was working on the page "Tavor X95" for many days, and finally was finished, but I clicked save changes and it brought me to the page where I have to change it because you had changed it since. That's ok, but I then tried to go to visual editing and it deleted all of my changes and I don't know how to get them back. I'm sorry, I don't know how to get them back. I would suggest you should try to prepare massive changes in a 'sandbox', i.e a subsection of you profile or user talk page. In this way you can make sure that you would lose anything if something suddenly interrupts your edit. Flayer (talk) 19:05, 2 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Very much thanks for your work on the organizational chart of the IAF! I heavily banked upon it when I created or updated all IAF airbase articles on the German Wikipedia.
