Post towns[edit]

I've again reverted your edits in Tibshelf and DE postcode area where you claimed that the post town was Bolsover. A post town is a specific part of the official Royal Mail address, usually based on the local postal delivery office location, and does not necessarily correspond to the nearest town. DE55, including Tibshelf, is covered by the Alfreton post town. You can check this at http://www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder – e.g. DE55 5PJ – the post town is always shown there in capital letters. Bolsover is not a post town and, despite being near to Tibshelf, Bolsover is in S44, which is covered by the Chesterfield post town.

To prevent edit wars, it's best to avoid reversing previous edits without checking the edit history and double checking the facts! If in doubt, feel free to ask on the talk page of the article or the user talk page.

Hope that clarifies things. Thanks for your other contributions. All the best.

Thanks for your friendly reply at User talk:Richardguk#Reply to post towns.
You asked whether you had replied in the right place, which you did; just remember to type "~~~~" at the end of each talk page post, as that automatically adds your username and the date!
You wrote that the address you tested showed up as "_____ Street, Tibshelf, Derbyshire". But when I enter that street at http://www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder (which shows the official postal address), the results all end in "_____ Street, Tibshelf, ALFRETON, DE55 5__" (I am hiding the details here). So "Alfreton" is definitely the post town, and I am not sure why you thought it said Derbyshire instead of Alfreton.
Meanwhile, User:Tibshelfian2102 removed the post town from the Tibshelf infobox, which I assume was related to your comment that you had made a small revision to the page. But that edit was reverted by an unrelated editor so the article now again lists the post town correctly as "Alfreton".
Hope that makes sense, but let me know again on my talk page if not.
