License tagging for Image:Anne bray.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Anne bray.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:04, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

Freewaves[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate your creation of the article, LA Freewaves, but we cannot accept copyrighted text borrowed from other web sites or printed material. Please see Wikipedia:Copyright problems for more information on this topic, or generally, Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. Please do not remove the copyright violation notice placed in the article or repost the suspected infringing text. However, if you would like to rewrite the article in your own words, follow the link in the posted notice to create a temporary subpage. If your new article is appropriate, and not a further copyright violation, the reviewing administrator will move that new article into place once the copyright status of the original has been resolved. Happy editing! Kungfu Adam (talk) 19:15, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

LA Freewaves: a fixup solution[edit]

I noticed that your aticle has been tagged as an advertisement. I decided to read the article as it was prior to the tagging, and yes, I see Kungfuadam's point. The first section of the article sounds like a history as given in a pamphlet, or something like that, while the Festivals section does seem like it advertises the individual festivals, rather than providing a brief history of them. However, this situation can be changed, with a simple rewriting of the article. If you wish, I'll assist you here. As I see it, the article should be like this (note that this only demonstrates how the article should be structured; as long as you roughly keep to it, you'll be fine):

LA Freewaves is a Los Angeles media arts and new media program. It was founded in
1989 by Anne Bray. etc etc...

Freewaves-administered Festivals
Festival name
Give the year(s) of the festival, what it demonstrated, and its history. Keep it brief!

References
I also strongly suggest you try and forget much of what the site says, and keep solely with the facts. This, I admit, may take some time. When you've written the article, submit it immediately to Peer review, and let them instruct you further. This may prevent you from making any previous mistakes. The copyright infringement, however, may be harder to sort out. The article rewriting may solve part of it, however, you might need to put a written permission note up indicating that the information garnered has been made available to you under fair use; I'm not sure. --JB Adder | Talk 16:49, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have done a great job on the article so far. I've looked back through it, and noticed that there is no indication of the references you have used. That's okay; however, if there are specific statements that have been taken from certain sites, then link the reference points from which they came. This can be done using two tags: <ref> and <references>. A full explanation of how to use these tags is given at Wikipedia:Footnotes; they can explain it better than I ever could. --JB Adder | Talk 06:18, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The abovenamed case page explains, at the bottom, how to have LA Freewaves send permission to Wikimedia in order to use its copyrighted text and images on the encyclopedia. If you're still interested in doing this (we haven't seen any page activity) please let us know so that we may close the case. Thank you! ~Kylu (u|t) 17:35, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Amoeba01.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:44, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Disambiguation link notification for August 7[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited LA Freewaves, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Media (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

File permission problem with File:Anne bray.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Anne bray.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

 • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
 • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add OTRS pending to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as non-free fair use or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:06, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
