Regarding your additions to Category:West Coast of the United States[edit]

Utah, Idaho, and Montana are not considered part of the west coast according to the article at West Coast of the United States. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 04:41, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just a quick note to let you know that I have nominated this category for deletion because I think it needs a look at by the wider community. You will find the discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2009 June 21#Category:AFI 100 Years… series. Please contribute to the discussion there and help us understand why you created the category. I have given my reasoning in the nomination, but may have completely misunderstood the situation. Cheers, Beeswaxcandle (talk) 08:18, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Experimental film festivals[edit]

Please stop indiscriminately adding Category:Experimental film festivals as a master category for Experimental filmmakers by nationality and type, main articles on experimental film, and the like. You need to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia's category scheme: but in a nutshell, a German experimental filmmaker is not a type of film festival. Category:Experimental film is the master category for filmmakers and festivals of this genre and articles about experimental film, not the film festival sub category, which must only apply to experimental film festival-related articles. Thank you, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 04:44, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Film festival stubs[edit]

Moreover, please stop adding film genre stubs to film festivals. A festival is not a genre of film. Please use Category:Film festival stubs instead, and kindly save other editors the trouble of cleaning this up by making the corrections yourself. Thank you, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 04:48, 24 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Computer crimes[edit]

I think that if you look at the history of L0pht, you'll find they're white hat hackers, not black hat, and therefore placement in "computer crimes" is inappropriate. In fact, I'd be surprised if many of the pages you've placed in this category belong there. Thanks, Tjarrett (talk) 00:22, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Category:Latino American film festivals (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 18:11, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why for deletion?

August 2009[edit]

Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Wine Country (California), please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. Categories must also be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. I looked through your recent edit history, and I found a number of other articles where you'd done similar additions, and I've backed those out as well. CfD nomination of Category:Murray family[edit]

The Frat Pack / The Hangover[edit]

Your recent edit to the page Frat Pack appears to have added incorrect information and has been reverted or removed. In particular, you added The Hangover but that film does not meet the criteria for the list since it does not have any Frat Pack stars (Ferrell, Black, Stiller, Wilson, Wilson, Vaughn, Carell). All information in this encyclopedia must be verifiable in a reliable, published source. If you believe the information that you added was correct, please cite the references or sources or before making the changes, discuss them on the article's talk page. Please use the sandbox for any tests that you wish to make. Do take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thank you. Please do not restore the reverted edit unless you can offer citation or other evidence (such as an imdb link) to back it up. And please don't forget to provide an edit summary to justify your edits. Kevin Crossman (talk) 17:24, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wait, the movies The Rocker and Role Models are on the listed.

- Please stop adding the Related Films to the Frat Pack article.
- If you're wanting to change the table from "starring role" to character names you should propose that change on the Talk page for the article.Kevin Crossman (talk) 18:53, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Walter Camp[edit]

Nice catch here. And when I see a "red name" editor, I encourage him or her to click the red "User page" tab top-left on this page and set up a simple, at least, to start, user page. Looks better to me. Cheers and thanks. Swliv (talk) 21:49, 10 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for October 9[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Youth on Parade, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Tom Brown, Charles Smith and John Hubbard (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

October 2012[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your edits to Kelly the Second, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, reduces edit conflicts, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 20:41, 10 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The article Poppy (1936 film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Fails to meet notability guidelines. Subject lists only a plot and actors, with no mention as to its significance.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. A tag has been placed on Molinari's requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the page be "userfied" or emailed to you. Grammarxxx (What'd I do this time?) 00:39, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of The Stinking Rose[edit]

Hello FriscoKnight,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Stinking Rose for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Atlantima (talk) 02:44, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on The Bella Union requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Deletion discussion about O'Farrell Street[edit]

Hello, FriscoKnight,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether O'Farrell Street should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/O'Farrell Street .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Film remakes[edit]

Your contributions are appreciated, but films based on the same source material aren't necessarily remakes. Category:Film remakes should only be used for films that are direct remakes of another film. Trivialist (talk) 23:24, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

In spite of Trivialist's request you are still adding this category to films that are not a remake. Casino Royale (2006 film) is in no way, shape or form a remake of the comedy film from the 1960's. If you would like to get some input as to what is and is not a remake I suggest that you ask for help at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film. On the other hand if you continue to incorrectly add this or other cats to articles it can be considered disruptive editing for which you may be blocked. You help and attention in this will be appreciated. MarnetteD | Talk 01:39, 25 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Opting in to VisualEditor[edit]

As you may know, VisualEditor ("Edit beta") is currently available on the English Wikipedia only for registered editors who choose to enable it. Since you have made 100 or more edits with VisualEditor this year, I want to make sure that you know that you can enable VisualEditor (if you haven't already done so) by going to your preferences and choosing the item, "MediaWiki:Visualeditor-preference-enable". This will give you the option of using VisualEditor on articles and userpages when you want to, and give you the opportunity to spot changes in the interface and suggest improvements. We value your feedback, whether positive or negative, about using VisualEditor, at Wikipedia:VisualEditor/Feedback. Thank you, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 18:25, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Back to the Future Part III, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. Categories must also be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Thank you. -- DonIago (talk) 13:42, 14 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I echo Doniago's notice. This is not the first time that you have had problems with adding categories to articles so, before you work with then again, you need to make yourself thoroughly conversant with the guidelines at Wikipedia:Categorization. Of the films that you added the cat to yesterday there was not one that mentioned the genre in the body of the article. Also, how anyone could add the "steampunk" cat to Zulu (1964 film) is beyond comprehension. I would suggest that the next time you want to add a cat to multiple articles that you ask for assistance at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film at the very least. You may also want to consider the Wikipedia:Mentorship program. Please be aware that if you proceed as you have you run risk being labeled as a disruptive editor which can lead to "topic bans" or being blocked from editing and there is no reason to go down that road. your cooperation in this will be appreciated.
