Images[edit]

We can appreciate that you are willing to make the effort to upload pictures, but please add the source and copyright license to each image that you upload. None of the images that you have added so far have any information. There is a tag for software screen shots and one for company logos. Click here Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags

Commercial spam[edit]

Hi, the page you created about your company constitutes advertising, which is not what Wikipedia is for. See Wikipedia:Wikipedia is not. Also please don't continue to add your company name to other pages. Many thanks, SlimVirgin (talk) 07:31, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Need some guidelines[edit]

I share your concerns in poluting Wikipedia with marketing and have no problems with removing any aspects which can be construed as marketing or removing the page in its entirity. The page has, however, been closely modeled on other company pages included in Wikipedia. What are the criteria for company pages on Wikipedia? I am sure it cannot be company size?? Shall address source and copyright on those files where I have not yet done so. FritzSolms

I can't give you an exact definition maybe as well as some that have been around for a really long time, but I will attempt this. Considering that Wikipedia is built on sources, then it is important to have each article backed by valid sources. What is a valid source? Well, magazines, newspapers, journals, etc... For example There is a relatively small company 100 people, but they have been noted in journals for what they are trying to accomplish (along with their [no pun intended] competitors). If URDAD is a authentic technique then it should have accompanying references to back up its existence (worldwide, because otherwise it can just be biased to a local place). If your company was noted for making such ground breaking techniques, I am sure your company would have an article before you could start one. Hope this helps. --None-of-the-Above 21:07, 5 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

OK, aggreed, should be deleted[edit]

On second reading I aggree that the page should be deleted. Still, I'd be interested in the guidelines for company pages. FritzSolms

If you agree it should be deleted, you can add {{delete}} to the top of the page, and that will allow me to delete it without a vote. SlimVirgin (talk) 23:55, September 5, 2005 (UTC)
Actually I've just checked the policy, and I can do it without a tag now that you've agreed, so I'll do that now. See Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. Many thanks for agreeing, as it saves us having to go through a vote. SlimVirgin (talk) 23:59, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

Please check your images[edit]

I noticed that you have some images in the category Category:Images with unknown source. Due to the vast number of images in this category (12000+), and the fact that, lacking a source, they present considerable copyright uncertanty, Jimbo has stated, and added to the Criteria for Speedy Deletion, "Images in category "Images with unknown source" or "Images with unknown copyright status" which have been in the category for more than 7 days, regardless of when uploaded." This means the images can, and will, be deleted with no notice. To see a list of all the images you've uploaded(at least, under this username), review the upload log. If you have any questions, please let me know. JesseW, the juggling janitor 17:46, 20 September 2005 (UTC)

Wikimania 2007[edit]

Hi FritzSolms

Wikimania 2007, which is being held in Taipei, Taiwan on August 3-5, is offering opportunities for travel scholarships to Wikimania for active users of Wikimedia projects from the continent of Africa. Although the original scholarship deadline has passed, please, if you are interested, you may still apply at http://wm07schols.wikimedia.org/apply.php. Sincerely yours, Cary Bass 20:53, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on URDAD, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of URDAD and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Duffbeerforme (talk) 10:50, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of URDAD[edit]

A tag has been placed on URDAD, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article that does not provide sufficient context to identify its subject. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Hairhorn (talk) 13:13, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated URDAD, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/URDAD. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Ash (talk) 20:37, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting article not to be deleted[edit]

Added further context to explain subject in more detail as well as categorization

URDAD article[edit]

Have added more context which should clarify the topic as well as categorization. Would like to request that the article is not deleted. User:FritzSolms 11:33, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're in the wrong place, I don't have control over whether it gets deleted or not. You should add your comments to the deletion discussion here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/URDAD. Cheers. 12:13, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Inviting you to WikiAfrica Incubator![edit]

Hey FritzSolms,

WikiAfrica invites you to support the Africa Incubator

WikiAfrica is pleased to invite you as a self-declared African Wikipedian to evaluate the Africa Incubator. WikiAfrica has created the Africa Incubator to support and assist new authors, as they create their first articles and learn the ins and outs of contributing to Wikipedia.

The Africa Incubator is a ‘soft landing’ for new authors to develop articles that relate to Africa. It assists them in becoming compliant and knowledgeable of Wikipedia principles and rules. Based within the Wikipedia framework, the Africa Incubator is fully interactive and enables feedback, assistance and forums.

This is where we need your help! For the Africa Incubator to be successful, it needs the intervention, interaction and experience of Incubator Mentors. We are looking for a pool of active experienced Wikipedians to consistently participate in ’owning’ the Africa Incubator. Incubator Mentors will assist new comers through the editing process. They will also help test and expand the Africa Incubator, and will play a vital role in encouraging newcomers to be Wikipedians for life

Please visit WikiAfrica Incubator to give us your honest feedback and evaluation. WikiAfrica is a ground-breaking project that is designed to Africanise Wikipedia by generating and expanding 30,000 articles over two years. Find out more about this project here WikiAfrica. Call for Wikipedians in Residence in Africa[edit]

Hello,

I hope you are well and thriving!! WikiAfrica has just put out a call for two Wikipedians in Residence. One in Cape Town at WikiAfrica, at the Africa Centre; and the other for WikiAfrica Cameroon in Douala, at doual’art. If you are interested, please contact either Marilyn [marilyn.doualabell@doualart.org] for the WikiAfrica Cameroon call or Isla [islahf@africacentre.net] for the WikiAfrica position in Cape Town.

If you are not interested in applying, I would be very grateful if you could spread this call far and wide among your networks to ensure that both projects get excellent candidates. Here is the link for the information page: http://www.wikiafrica.net/two-wikipedians-in-residence-for-africa/

Best regards, Islahaddow

H1! I am User:Wikirictor. Could you maybe have a look into Draft:IT4IT Reference Architecture and see if you can help or give some advice. All the Best. Wikirictor (talk) 13:34, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Compromised account[edit]

WP:COMPROMISED. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:09, 21 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Per UTRS appeal #80811, "I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do. Once an account has been compromised, we've no idea who is now in control of it. Your best hope is to email WMF's Trust and Safety team. Contact via email at ca@wikimedia.org They have tools we lack. Best" -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 10:05, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've enabled talk page access. It's plausible that this user can perform some validation using their real identity. I consider it likely they still have access to this account and hope they've changed their password. It'll be up to FritzSolms to suggest the details. -- zzuuzz (talk) 11:21, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
FritzSolms, I'll elaborate with the most straightforward solution: enable email in your preferences using an email address containing the domain name used on your user page. Then email me, and reply to my reply. At the same time you can tell us on this page whether you've improved your account security. -- zzuuzz (talk) 21:16, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Zzuuzz,
for your support. I have replaced my password with a more secure password and the security level of the solms.co.za mail server has also been improved.
Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do. FritzSolms (talk) 08:29, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Elisabeth Champollion moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Elisabeth Champollion. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources and it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.
