November 2011[edit]

In general, a person or organization added to a list, as on Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, should have a pre-existing article to establish notability. If you wish to create such an article, please confirm that your subject is notable according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. ~a (usertalkcontribs) 18:54, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Futura2000. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to you, your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Be aware that adding content about oneself is generally not acceptable on Wikipedia, and preferred practice is to request another editor make any changes which would be a perceived conflict of interest. I have referred your second addition of yourself to Thomas_Jefferson_High_School_for_Science_and_Technology#Notable_alumni to the COI Noticeboard. Bakkster Man (talk) 20:45, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

TJ article[edit]

"These people are notable, as TJHSST does not commonly produce gamers and people who work for charities. They both work for outstanding charities."

Please read this article: "Wikipedia articles cover notable topics—those that have gained sufficiently significant attention by the world at large and over a period of time, and are not excluded for other reasons. We consider evidence from reliable independent sources such as published journals, books, and newspapers to gauge this attention...Wikipedia's concept of notability applies this basic standard to avoid indiscriminate inclusion of topics. ...list topics must be notable..." Your point is incorrect but more importantly your point is irrelevant. Sorry my language sounds so harsh, but I'm having trouble wording this without coming across so black-and-white. In fact, since we are both TJ alumns, I'm sure there's lots of stuff we could add to the content: I just think that adding these guys into the article is the wrong direction to take. ~a (usertalkcontribs) 19:08, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
