Revising Russian ORBAT in Ukraine

Hope you do not mind me adjusting the headers. I don't think any of the data above the 'Combined force grouping' section matters any more. Do you think there's much of a difference between the Cold War 'Groups of Forces' and the группировки войск there are now in Ukraine? Buckshot06 I have posted your message above to a newly-created 'Talk' page adjoining my 'Sandbox'.

In answer to your questions:-

· Remember that this Russian ORBAT has to fit against the Ukrainian in the main article; we don't want subsections of the Russian ORBAT at that level.

· Sub-sections *Organisational Structure* & *Initial force groupings* maintain continuity with the current article. When the Russian ORBAT is revised in that article they can be deleted then if other contributors agree.

· Группировка = grouping, so I have put it that way for now. If you and other contributors prefer a term less clumsy in the article it can be changed. FwdObserver (talk) 18:27, 11 June 2023 (UTC)

(1 and 2) So I will start clearing out the main article's initial sections. It's a year old now; needs to change.

3 Do you have any insight over the *doctrine* regarding any specific difference between Группировка = grouping and the term used to describe the Groups of Forces 1945-93 or so, eg Southern Group of Forces, ie группа войск? On the Википедия site, Группировка войск is a redirection page leading to the article Формирование (военное дело), whereas Группа войск is a specific article.

To me группирировка implies temporary or transitory while группа is more established or permanent. FwdObserver (talk) 20:11, 15 June 2023 (UTC)
