Flags are inappropriate[edit]

Hello, your recent addition to 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has been reverted. The usage of flags are not meant for the birth location nor the death location. For more information please read this. Thank you and happy editing. Nascar1996 01:32, 11 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, colors for the numbers are not needed. They have no purpose for the article, they just show the paint scheme which is not notable. Nascar1996 21:27, 12 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series[edit]

While making a change to any of the information, please review the reference, or add a new one. As on Jayski.com it says that Trevor Bayne will run some 2011 races with the team, while it hasn't been officially announced that Elliott will also drive for the team. He may go to Phoenix Racing. Please, as I said, only add information if it is referenced. Nascar1996 16:09, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I need help with adding references. A report on Jayski that came out today denied that Bill was running with the #09 team. Even though Trevor Bayne is driving the car in testing, he won't be driving the #21 at all. Bill will stil be driving for the Wood Brothers in 2011, leaving Phoenix w/o a driver. Also, right below that, Brian Burns is leaving FRM. Here's the reference: http://jayski.com/cupnews.htm#20101220c

The current reference should be updated soon (which is also on Jayski). I seen that while I looked, but there would be no purpose since the current reference will be updated. Sadly, we have to wait until it does before we can change it. For referencing tips read: WP:REF. Also please sign you posts with ~~~~. Sorry for the mistake above, but I was reading from the reference. Thanks and happy editing. Nascar1996 01:39, 23 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Your reference will eventually expire. I am trying to make it a good article with good references. Just wait untill Jayski updates the current ref. I emailed them, and they said they will update when nessesary. I reverted your edits. Nascar1996 23:18, 29 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They have started improving a lot. I'm really impressed how you have learned how to edit Wikipedia, and would like to ask you to join WP:NASCAR here. Please consider. Also would you like to have a user page? If you'd like I could help you with it. Thanks and happy editing. Nascar1996 20:21, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Have you been reading my edit summaries when I revert you on the 2011 season article? I have because some of what you put is unsourced by the reference, which means the information does not appear on the reference. Then, I have also had more sponsors added. Only primary sponsors are needed. They are not that notable in the article, thats why I'm asking for the primary sponsor only. The teams have associative sponsors, but they do not need to be included. I have actually wanted the entire column to be removed, but other users say its needed. On Bobby Labonte's car, they have several sponsors, but Bush's Baked Beans will be on the car the most, so its the only one that needs included. Thanks. Nascar1996 20:18, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhh ok. So even though Bush's Clorox, and Kingsford essentially share the same amount of races (7,6,6) respectively, Bush's is on the car the most. Sorry about that. And the LFR #95 does have primary sponsorship from WRL Contractors which is one of Leavine's companies. Why did you want the entire sponsor column removed? And do you know how IndyCar has a Template Box for the championship contenders for the 2011 season? Could we do the same thing for the Sprint Cup Series?Gaeaman787 (talk) 20:24, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Races for Sprint Cup[edit]

I removed it because it was clearly unreferenced for some parts. Also, it changes too often. Then about the sponsor ship column, too much statistics, and stuff. Though Wikipedia is supposed to have a lot of information, its not supposed to have a dumpload of information. Such as in a Encylcopedia book, it doesn't display every little cranny that happens. Which most of those would just have what NASCAR is, not anything else. Nascar1996 20:10, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to de Ferran Dragon Racing. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Better source request for File:Vision-Aviation-Racing.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Vision-Aviation-Racing.jpg. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:19, 2 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copyrighted[edit]

The Tony Stewart image you placed on 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series came from http://www.nasfans.com/gearing-nascar-2011/ . The site clearly states Copyright © 2011 · Genesis Framework by StudioPress · WordPress. Comment? Moriori (talk) 03:00, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

oops, that was my fault for not checking copyright, I'm not really the best at the uploding of images, I was just out looking for better ones to put on driver pages. In the future, how should I ascertain new images from other websites?Gaeaman787 (talk) 03:53, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I second Moriori's comments. You have 2 options on images. 1) Take the picture yourself, then use a valid free license. or 2) Only upload images that you find at flickr which already have the license Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike (or just CC plus either Attribution or CC-ShareAlike). Then you need to be certain that this image was taken by the photographer. It's best that you don't upload any images now. Please ask me if you find one and I'll say if it's okay until I'm sure that you understand. You did bad when you replaced an excellent image of Landon Cassill with one that you found somewhere else. A bot deleted the image which was a copyright violation (ILLEGAL!!). So you erased an image and it ultimately wouldn't have been replaced if I wasn't watching that particular page. I've spent very much time looking for images and it hurts me personally to see them getting removed for no reason. Royalbroil 04:28, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Cobb/Mattioli[edit]

Oh boy, that looks a stickler. NASCAR's entry list currently has Cobb listed in the #10 Ford for 'Dega, while Patrick Sheltra is in the #99 in a Dodge, under sponsor "Chase Mattioli Racing". Now, I haven't caught up on the other entry lists of late, but if this is definitely the first race for the #99 as a Dodge, we could incorporate it together. But I think the idea with the most common sense at present is to have them listed separately. That way, it'll provide less confusion for other readers of the article, yeah! Craig(talk) 12:10, 20 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Put it this way, I've never seen so many changes of numbers between teams in a single season in any category of racing! There's definitely no way to incorporate the three teams together with the numbers, so we can rule that out. Easiest way to do it, is as you say, to split them up. Won't confuse any readers that way. Request reason:

I am a non-malignant editor that is currently only able to use an IP address that is with an open proxy. I am a consisted updater of the NASCAR section of Wikipedia and would like to be unblocked to continue my contribution. I am a student that is studying abroad at a university in England and this is the only feasable area from which I can edit from. This university has a open proxy for public use, and the other IP's I've used are in the United States.

Decline reason:

Temporary decline pending a response below; we've a bit of a backlog right now, so when you've replied please put up a new template so we know to check back then. Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:35, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Could you provide a little more information about why use of this proxy is necessary? We cannot unblock the IP while it is running a proxy service, however we can grant you an IP Block Exemption. However, an IPBE is only granted to permit proxy use in very extreme circumstances, where no other option remains. It looks as though you've had access to a few other locations in the past few months; why not those? Hersfold (t/a/c) 19:38, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I'm a study abroad student and I'm studying at a university that uses a proxy server. I have no way of using any other IP addresses that are non-proxy servers. I have no option of returning to the United States until December, and I'm mostly requesting this to stay up to date with the NASCAR seasons. I've actually edited from my current location before, so I'm also not understanding why I'm being blocked now

Accept reason:

Ok, sounds reasonable. It looks like the IP you're on was blocked very recently by ProcseeBot, an automated account that scans for openly accessible proxies. I'm not entirely sure how it checks to see if a proxy is in fact openly accessible or not, but either way, that's the reason. So that you may continue to edit, I have given your account an IP Block Exemption, which should allow you to get around this IP block. Please note that this is considered an administrative right, and any abuse of this right will result in its immediate removal. Additionally, it will be removed as soon as it becomes evident that it is no longer needed. For more information, please see the policy page at WP:IPBE. If you have any questions, please let me know. Re: Questions on columns drivers and stuff[edit]

The way you're suggesting seems to tie into line with what was listed on the 2011 Sprint Cup page, and now that I'm looking at it, that does seem to be a cleaner way of doing the particular driver's races if they are not doing a complete schedule of races. So for instance, take the KHI #2 truck from 2011:

Team Manufacturer No Primary Sponsor Race Driver Crew Chief
Kevin Harvick Incorporated Chevrolet 2 Sponsors go here (NB: not typing them all out!) Elliott Sadler 6 Bruce Cook
Clint Bowyer 4
Kevin Harvick 8
Ron Hornaday 3
Cale Gale 2
David Mayhew 2

It can either be the number of the races, or the track that the races were at. Perhaps bring it up at the WikiProject, because it may be a change that could be universally adopted across the three series, rather than having the three series with three potential article setups...in regards to the Gaughan/Bodine/Mears situation, I'm not too sure, although on Jayski, it does say that the remaining driver for the #2 truck would be announced at a later date. Yeah, Bodine and Papis out of rides with the Germain closure...Papis may end up at RCR, but I can't see it personally...Bodine would be a grab for any team, but not many have placed their hands for 2012, what with the season-opener being a week later. Again, not too sure. Craig(talk) 23:53, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The sooner all the rumours are cleaned up, the better! Haha! Craig(talk) 02:58, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lotus Renault[edit]

Hi there. We were waiting really to see what reliable sources we going to do with regards to splitting or keeping it as it is. However, I've just found the team profile on formula1.com has been updated, suggesting they will consider them the same team. How a team called Lotus can be considered the same as a team called Renault from the 1970s is rather difficult to understand, but hey. Anyway, there's no point in moving it to 'Lotus Renault GP' as you tried to do because that was their 2011 name - they will be 'Lotus F1 Team' in 2012. And also, the team has not rebranded itself yet like Team Lotus/Caterham did last week - so if the article is going to just going to be renamed that cannot be done just yet. But you are more than welcome to discuss the whole situation at WT:F1 in the meantime. Thanks - mspete93 17:35, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again. The decision over whether or not to start a new page will be a significant one, and therefore you need to raise it first at Wikipedia Talk:WikiProject Formula One before making any changes. Thanks - mspete93 01:28, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

IPBE removed[edit]

Hey Gaeaman787, just so you know, I've removed the IP Block Exemption that I placed on your account some time ago. It appears that the block that was affecting the IP address you were editing from has been modified so it will no longer affect logged-in editing, making the exemption flag unnecessary. Team Lotus/Caterham[edit]

It wasn't me that split them. I was just tidying up a bodged move by another editor. User:Prisonermonkeys decided without asking anyone that Marussia and Virgin needed seperate pages, their reasoning being that the constructor name has changed and therefore their results will start from zero (though they didn't have any evidence for this). I said that if we are going to use that logic then Caterham and Team Lotus need splitting as that was also a change of name. Prisonermonkeys then went ahead and created new articles for Lotus and Caterham. Personally I certainly think that the Lotus team of 2012 has absolutely nothing to do with the Renault of the 1970s, so there is no way they can be in the same article. - mspete93 16:38, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Marussia/Caterham/Lotus[edit]

When a team changes its name, it is considered to be a new constructor. Any results that it scores are credits to its new name. There has never been a case where the FIA has considered a new team to be a "continuation" of an old one - not even when Jordan became Midland, then Spyker and then Force India - and there is no evidence that they are about to begin doing so now. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 22:39, 3 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sahara Force India is not considered to be a new team. Sahara bought into the team, but they are only the title sponsor - the team never applied to change their name. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 22:13, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Each of those teams is a new constructor. They changed their cosntructor name. When the television rights are paid out at the end of the year, the historical multiplier will no longer be applied to them because of the change. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 23:30, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Technically, yes - but the results were credited to Renault, not Lotus. In the end-of-race results, Petrov and Heidfeld/Senna were listed as having driven a Renault. It is the constructor that the FIA is concerned with, not a title sponsor. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 01:04, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Re: List of NASCAR Drivers[edit]

I deleted your recent edits on the NASCAR drivers page because I've previously been notified by NASCAR moderators about limiting the amount of color used on the page, such as you color-coating Timmy Hill's name to show he's a ROY contender. Also they made a change a few months ago wanting to show only the driver's home country flag, not their state flag. Sorry if it seemed I didn't want you "messing with my page," as I've been managing the page for the last year. I was just trying to keep it up to the standards that the mods want. ROTY eligibility[edit]

Regarding Danica in Cup - I have yet to find a reliable source for the change (and given NASCAR's secrecy with its rulebook, there might not be one), but I've seen it said enough places that I'm confident it's true (just not, as mentioned, citable yet) - when they changed the rules to "pick a series for points", they also changed it so that a driver who is not running for points in a series doesn't have their starts in that series count against their ROTY eligibility in that series - hence Patrick is eligible for Cup ROTY in 2013, Trevor Bayne is still elgible, and with Ryan Blaney switching from N'wide to Truck points starting last weekend he should still be eligible for N'wide ROTY next year. (Doesn't explain why Pastrana's thrown away his ROTY eligibility tho, oh well...) - The Bushranger One ping only 01:53, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Found this which says NASCAR was considering changing the rule, still looking for RS saying they did (hoping it's not one of those 'everybody knows it' things). And an explicit statement Bayne was exempted: [1]. - The Bushranger One ping only 01:57, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And found it [2] Bayne is still eligible for the Rookie of the Year award. Why? He has yet to declare for Sprint Cup points for a full season, meaning that his 18-race run in 2011 did not count against his eligibility, nor will his schedule in the series in 2012. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:01, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Why is this wackiness not noted on the Rookie page? I understand Stenhouse being eligible for ROTY for 2013 since he's only made two Cup starts. Bayne ran rookie stripes on his #21 in 2011 because he was inexperienced at those tracks he ran at for the 18 race schedule with the Wood Brothers, but he did not earn any points towards the ROTY crown since he was ineligible for points in the series. So this also applies to Patrick, who despite making more than the maximum 7 starts for eligible Cup drivers (in her case 10), is ineligible for points in Cup. Though she will be eligible for points next year. And when did Ryan Blaney switch to Truck points? Grrr more plotholes -_-. Now a question that's been bugging me is if Parker Kligerman was released from Penske's development program or if he's still a part of it...and if Ryan Blaney's been picked up by Penske. Oh...I forgot Pastrana's making that 8th start with RFR at Richmond. Silly Season I thought was going to be a simple Kenseth to Gibbs, Logano to Penske, Kurt Busch ends up at 2nd Furniture Row car...but it brings up more plotholes in the lower series...ugghhhh. Since Logano's been doing most of the N'Wide starts for Gibbs, and he'll likely be splitting the #22 with BK, Blaney, and JV, where does that leave the #18 and #20? The factor in this will be Sam and Alliance Truck Parts. I remember Sam (or someone else stating in a interview that he and ATP wanted to go Cup Racing, so the third car is a possibility for Penske. Btw, I added a article tag for the #10 car's SHR history, since the car officially belongs to Baldwin no matter if DP, Reuti, or Yeley is driving the car.Gaeaman787 (talk) 02:15, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've just added it to the rookie page, as best I can with the sources I have anyway. And yes, it appears it applies to all drivers in all series. As for Blaney's switch to Truck points, that came and went in the night, as it were - nothing mentioned in the news, at all. Simply a line in the race report from Atlanta that Blaney received 33 points for his 11th place finish, not 0 as he had the previous race at Bristol for 6th. This is actually Pastrana's 9th start at Richmond, BTW - 8th was Atlanta. As for Kligerman, I've seen conflicting reports - some say he was released completely from Penske's program (which would make sense as he's now driving for the Dark Side - er, Toyota), others that he was just cut from BHR because of lack of sponsorship with Dodge/Ram going away next year, others saying it was Kligerman's call to leave... Elliott Sadler's supposed to be running a N'wide car for Gibbs next year according to Jayski's. Sam's up in the air aside from "with Penske". And as for Danica, while in the Daytona 500 it was pretty well stated that the 10 was always a TBR car, it was explicitly stated during the SPEED Channel qualifying broadcast at first Michigan (I think it was) that the #10 is a pure SHR operation when Danica runs it, just with Baldwin's name on the entry blank for the points. - The Bushranger One ping only 02:25, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • facepalm* If I'm Sadler, I'd stay with Childress, and just hand the 18 and 20 to Ryan Truex and Darrell Wallace. The cup series is so simple, but this also has ramifications for the lower series -_-. Did you note that RB switched points after Bristol on the 2012 Truck page?Gaeaman787 (talk) 03:03, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ah, that hadn't even occured to me, but it looks like somebody else beat me to it. Completely agree with regards to JGR's Busch cars, but it's already confirmed straight from the horse's mouth (Childress') that Sadler won't be back in the 2 next year for certain, with JGR being the grapevine's destination for him. I think the main problem JGR has is the same reason Kyle had to let Brian Ickler go from his Truck team - sponsors don't want to fund rookies... - The Bushranger One ping only 03:21, 4 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Leo Corbett[edit]

Would you please inform this user in any other venue you may know him in that Wikipedia is no longer using the formatting that he tried to force on it just recently? No more separate pages for the rangers, villains, and zords per season. He never responds to talk page messages anymore.—Ryulong (琉竜) 19:05, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, he's been trying to do that on the RangerWiki for about a year now. He's more into fanfiction. He has very repetitive behavior and tries to use his own canonical fanfiction. If he gets banned then he'll get a username like a comic book hero or a previous Red Ranger. And he won't respond to your comments either, he'll only reply if he's threatened with a ban and say that he's sorry, but he'll come back and do it again. So I'd suggest reporting him if you feel as though its warranted, because he won't stop.Gaeaman787 (talk) 00:29, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved your response here because I like keeping things on one page.
Thank you for the advice though.—Ryulong (琉竜) 03:54, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WeatherTech entries[edit]

On wikipedia we never anticipate the entries for next events. Take a look to 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship, 2017 European Le Mans Series, 2017 24H Series. This is because, although full-season lineups are announced, something can change during the season. Example: in 2016 IMSA championship, Black Swan's Porsche was prepared for a full season, but it was withdrawn before the last round. --62.173.162.187 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.173.162.187 (talk) 12:53, 7 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The page should be simple to read. If we write the full season lineups, it would be a mess. Take a look at other pages: F1, WEC, ELMS, 24H Series, Blancpain. We have never anticipated the entries for the other rounds. --62.173.162.187 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.173.162.187 (talk) 12:13, 10 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

PWC/Sprint-X[edit]

Unfortunately, I don't have the time anymore to update points standings for PWC and Sprint-X. As much as I enjoy editing championship standings on multiple pages, PWC/Sprint-X simply take up too much time for me these days, as I'm also busy with Blancpain GT (Endurance/Sprint/Asia/Sports Club), all GT4 series, lower NASCAR series and more. I hope somebody else picks it up. Because you're the regular editor of the Entry lists, I just wanted to let you know. Vettelisthebest (talk) 8:29, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
