Hi Geebei1988! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia.
Be our guest at the Teahouse! The Teahouse is a friendly space where new editors can ask questions about contributing to Wikipedia and get help from experienced editors like GreenMeansGo (talk).

We hope to see you there!

November 2020[edit]

Hi Geebei1988, my name is Zindor. I'm a Teahouse host here at Wikipedia.

While we all appreciate friendliness, our primary goal here is to create and maintain an encyclopedia.

Ideally the only conversations that should happen are discussions about article content, maintenance or user behaviour. Socializing is not what Wikipedia is about, and I would encourage you to avoid trying to engage other users in casual conversation that is un-related to Wikipedia. Other websites such as Facebook exist for such purposes.

To learn editing you can start by following the Introduction guide.

If you have any questions about what I've written you can ask me here and I'll do my best to answer you.

Kind regards and happy editing, Zindor (talk) 01:09, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Geebei1988, my name is David notMD. I'm also a Teahouse host here at Wikipedia. Not as patient as Zindor. If you persist in doing stuff that has no place in Wikipedia (see WP:NOTHERE) you risk being indefinitely blocked from editing. That means not posting nonsense on your User page, your Talk page, Teahouse, or other Users' Talk pages. Yes, you did mimic, and Bonadea removed it. Please focus on taking the introductory guide and on improving existing articles. David notMD (talk) 01:24, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Geebei1988! The thread you created at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, Love, has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days (usually at least two days, and sometimes four or more). You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please feel free to create a new thread.

The archival was done by Lowercase sigmabot III, and this notification was delivered by Muninnbot, both automated accounts. You can opt out of future notifications by placing {{bots|deny=Muninnbot}} here on your user talk page. Muninnbot (talk) 19:01, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

December 2020[edit]

Geebei1998, further to the previous advice given by myself and David notMD, I regrettably have to issue you a clear final warning in regards to your unconstructive edits that treat Wikipedia like social media. The contribution history of your previous, but now abandoned account, portrays the same behaviour.

As we are volunteers building an encyclopedia, we have to choose carely how our time and resources are used. Answering unintelligible questions, or giving you career advice is not a feasible use of our time.

I will not be issuing you any further advice and I note that you may be blocked from editing without notice, especially if you carry on in the manner you have been. Please make your next edit a constructive one, preferably to an article. Zindor (talk) 13:58, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

like what? Geebei1988 (talk) 01:27, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'll find you some easy pages to work on. Will post them below. Regards, Zindor (talk) 09:25, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wuh - oh![edit]

Now, I see you are a preschool teacher, but I cannot prove otherwise. I'd suggest taking the suggestions above and do some editing. They're not kidding when they say you'll be blocked indefinitely. For further reading, look at this. Additionally, the Teahouse is for asking questions about how to use or edit Wikipedia. We will gladly answer your questions there if you have any on-topic. December 2020: Wikipedia is not social media; please stop socializing[edit]

If you are lonely or bored, the editors of Wikipedia cannot remedy the situation
Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate that you enjoy using Wikipedia, please note that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a social network. Wikipedia is not a place to socialize or write things that are not directly related to improving the encyclopedia. Off-topic material may be deleted at any time. We're sorry if this message has discouraged you from editing here, but the ultimate goal of this website is to build an encyclopedia. Thank you.--Quisqualis (talk) 18:27, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Teahouse post[edit]

Hi! I removed your most recent post from the Teahouse because it was not a question about editing Wikipedia; you may be blocked from editing that page, or in general, if you continue asking similar questions. I would ask instead that you look at Help:Getting started and WP:The Wikipedia Adventure and contribute to some articles you're interested in. Thank you. You're welcome. Geebei1988 (talk) 20:07, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Task[edit]

Here's a task I've found for you. The article about the town of Dugadda in Uttakarand, India has a few problems that need fixing. It'll take some effort but it'll be a great learning experience.

There is text in the lede section that needs rewriting. The census lists the location as 'town' rather than the weaseled 'small city', so try and swap those terms.

The data in the demographics section needs updating. In this case you can simply replace the numbers. For Indian towns and villages it's possible to search the census in order to provide a reliable source. I've found the Dugadda page for you here.

For creating references we often use ref tags and the {{Cite web}}, this is done by filling out the template with necessary information.

To place a citation, place the code at the end of the sentence (after the text which you would like to verify). In this case, place it at the end of the paragraph in the demographics section.

Copy and paste the following code to do so:

<ref name="Census1">{{cite web |url=https://www.censusindia.gov.in/pca/SearchDetails.aspx?Id=54320 |title=Census of India 2011 |publisher=Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner, India |access-date=2020-12-05}}</ref>

The History section needs a citation. Try googling 'History of Dugadda Doggadda Uttakarand' or similar and see what you find. Follow the advice at Help:Referencing for beginners to assist with adding the source.

In the geography section the prose about the location being surrounded by mountains and the khoh river needs a reliable source to back it up. Try searching Google Books, also add any more specific information such as which mountain range it is. This will help support the similar text in the lede section.

The Education section has out-of-scope information that needs removing. Try rewriting the section so it only talks about the names of the colleges, instead of information about them.

Don't worry too much about making mistakes. I'll be around later and there will likely be someone at the Teahouse who can help should you get stuck. I hope you can help with this article. Regards, Zindor (talk) 11:03, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry I can't. I lived in Philippines, it's hard to edit an article like that. Geebei1988 (talk) 20:12, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Geebei1988 Then pick any article, and edit it, remembering to add references that support the new content!!!! David notMD (talk) 11:05, 6 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No useful contributions so far: a persistent timesink is a liability to Wikipedia[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

Block[edit]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing because it appears that you are clearly not here to build an encyclopedia; competence is required to participate constructively here, and in that regard, your edits have been a persistent timesink for multiple users (e.g., at Teahouse), with no constructive edits having been made; the response to multiple requests to do something useful have resulted in apparent puzzlement--and no change in behavior.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 19:32, 8 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

December 2020[edit]

Gifts. I love gifts, especially if the gift is made for me to SMILE. Hope the Wikipedia gift for me is to UNBLOCK me, so that I can continue editing. My edits are not jokes, it's simple topics only, because I'm still thinking for nice questions. Geebei1988 (talk) 01:53, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You need to actually make a formal unblock request, and spouting off non-sequiturs like you have been doing isn't going to help you. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 03:19, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand, Geebei1988. You have made no contributions to articles, not "simple topics", nothing at all. What you have done, as others have said, is posted things nobody understands to community forums and other editors' talk pages, which wastes their time trying to understand them, remove them, and eventually, administrators time to have to stop you from doing more of it. If you don't have anything to contribute to articles, that's fine; the vast majority of people who read Wikipedia articles every day never make a single edit; editing is not required. Just enjoy the resource for what it is, and don't try to use it for something it's not – a social media platform. Thanks. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 20:16, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks for the correction. Geebei1988 (talk) 00:38, 11 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why you're hurtful? Can you use gentle words so that I can feel welcome? I don't like editing actually...only summarizing. I enjoyed studying in Wikiversity, you know. Lee is replying my emails about Logic. Geebei1988 (talk) 16:20, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You are blocked for using Wikipedia as social media. Now you are using your Talk page as social media. You can be blocked from access to your Talk page if you continue to misuse it.--Quisqualis (talk) 19:57, 6 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your talk page access has been revoked[edit]

Following your indefinite block last month, I have now removed your ability to post on this page. You have failed to appreciate that it can only be used to appeal that block, and not to post more irrelevant opinions, as if this were a free blogging site or Facebook. This is not acceptable and you are still wasting other editors' time by continuing to do so. Your only route now (should you ever decide you want to attempt to edit Wikipedia in a serious and constructive manner) is to to make an 'unblock appeal'. There is specific guidance at Wikipedia:Appealing a block for those whose access to their talk page has been removed. You would need to read and understand that very carefully if you ever did want to return to editing here, but I very much doubt your past editing behaviour would make any administrator feel that giving you editing rights again would be an appropriate thing to do.
