copyright[edit]

So I took at look at Draft:Anna Spitzmüller and noticed you copied 95% of it from this blog entry. I'm guessing the blog entry is yours because you specifically say you're going to take it to Wikipedia but here's the problem: Wikipedia assumes every other source asserts copyright unless they SPECIFICALLY identify their content as public domain/ creative commons or we can determine such. Right now, I could say that you stole content from another source (without even attributing it) and I could request that draft be deleted per WP:COPYVIO. What you need to do is mark your blog (if it is yours) as public domain (or at least CC-BY-SA). That, or you need to entirely re-write your draft. We get this problem from time to time when someone develops text in a blog and then decides to write a Wikipedia entry not realizing they're not allowed to steal their own words. Please fix. Chris Troutman (talk) 03:04, 4 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

My helpful Chris:
I'm working on putting a note on the wordpress blog saying it is CC-BY-SA, whatever that means. Sadly, I have no idea how to respond to your thoughtful note. Your talk site asks me to do it from this note. Maybe this will work. The exact text is from a * footnote and says: *This post was written by Erika Esau who states that it is CC-BY-SA, a form of open source, free-use, copyright waived bit of intellectual property.
I went on to denigrate the Wikipedia editors who are trying to frustrate the effort to post this stalwart woman's bio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by George.boeck (talkcontribs) 00:10, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! It would appear Megalibrarygirl published your draft into mainspace without looking at the COPYVIO report but your note removes any legal stumbling blocks. It's a decent article. Thanks for your patience with this. Wikipedia as an organization was formed by the "big fish in small ponds" and to that end, might not be what many outside writers might expect or agree with. Thanks, Chris troutman for making sure everything is in compliance! :) Megalibrarygirl (talk) 21:19, 5 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
