Fritz Kachler[edit]

Hi, I removed the paragraph you added to the bottom of Fritz Kachler. I'm afraid there isn't much I or anyone can do to verify the statements on that page. What you would need is a newspaper article or some other "trusted" source that makes those claims; we can't trust everybody who comes along to always tell the truth and that's why we insist on thirdparty sources. Walt Ruhmann[edit]

Walter "Walt" Ruhmann, was born in 1899 in Ratibor, Upper Silesia, Germany (since 1945, Raciborz, Poland). Son of a judge, he studied medicine, eventually becoming a prominent Berlin rheumatologist.

Having one Jewish parent, he fled Nazi Germany only to be interned in the Eastern Townships region of Quebec as an "enemy alien" by the Canadian government. It was during this period of restricted activity that he returned to his childhood love of drawing.

After the war he studied homeopathy in Philadelphia at a hospital that no longer exists, and practiced homeopathic medicine. He also actively pursued painting, eventually exhibiting in the UK and Canada His painting was written up in several Canadian art journals, among them "Arts et Pensees".

He corresponded with the great mathematician and philosopher, Bertrand Russell, who was heavily involved in the "ban the bomb" movement, and wanted to use Ruhmann's art for propaganda purposes. Walt declined.

In 1967, he died as the result of post-op infection after a prostate operation, declining to allow the use of antibiotics to deal with that infection. The medical incompetence of his family doctor, who suggested that Walt Ruhmann was just depressed and needed some "fresh air" and the indifference of his surgeon who stated "Why call me, I just did the operation?" were also contributing factors in his death.
