- Hello @Terminatorwil:, the Midweek Sun fails our criteria for a reliable source by a wide margin (WP:RS), let alone for a source for health-related or medical claims (WP:MEDRS). Also, phrases like "The importance of Yoga has been in his teaching since it is the answer to many non-communicable diseases." blatantly violate WP:NPOV. Content should be written from an uninvolved dispassionate point of view, not simply repeating the topic's own claims and PR statements. An encyclopedia has to take a critical, fact-oriented stance and should be based on information from reliable, independent expert sources. GermanJoe (talk) 11:38, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 25 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 26 February. It will be on all wikis from 27 February (calendar).
Future changes
- There will be a reply button after each post on a talk page if you want one. This will soon be a beta feature on the Arabic, French, Dutch and Hungarian Wikipedias. You will have to turn it on if you want to use it. It will come to more wikis later. You can test the reply button. It was briefly shown earlier than planned by mistake on the four first wikis last week.

- Following a discussion, Twinkle's default CSD behavior will soon change, most likely this week. After the change, Twinkle will default to "tagging mode" if there is no CSD tag present, and default to "deletion mode" if there is a CSD tag present. You will be able to always default to "deletion mode" (the current behavior) using your Twinkle preferences.
Miscellaneous
- Following the 2020 Steward Elections, the following editors have been appointed as stewards: BRPever, Krd, Martin Urbanec, MusikAnimal, Sakretsu, Sotiale, and Tks4Fish. There are a total of seven editors that have been appointed as stewards, the most since 2014.
- The 2020 appointees for the Ombudsman commission are Ajraddatz and Uzoma Ozurumba; they will serve for one year.

Problems
- Readers who were not logged in briefly saw the interface in a language decided by their browser. It should normally be in the language of the wiki. This happened for a short period of time last week. This was because of a bug. [1]
Changes later this week
- If you forget your password you can ask for a new one to be sent to your email address. You need to know your email address or your username. You will now be able to choose that you need to enter both your email address and your username. This will be a preference. This is to get fewer password reset emails someone else asked for. [2]
- When you asked for a new password you could see if the username didn't exist on Special:PasswordReset. Now the page will show the username you entered and tell you an email has been sent if the username exists. This is for better security. [3]
- On Special:WhatLinksHere you can see what other pages link to a page. You can see if the link is from a redirect. You can now see which section the redirect links to. [4]
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 3 March. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 4 March. It will be on all wikis from 5 March (calendar).
Future changes
- The developers are working on a new interface to solve edit conflicts on talk pages. You can give feedback. [5]
- There is a vote on the creation of a new user group called abuse filter manager. The vote runs from March 1 to March 31 on Meta.
wgMFSpecialCaseMainPagewas used for the mobile site. It was deprecated in 2017. It will stop working in April. Wikis should see if they use it. If they do they should fix it. You can read more and ask for help. This affects 183 wikis. There is a list. [6]

- @Ozzie10aaaa:, i got the intention to de-orphan. But it was really not a good spot to put such an article link. The context was very loose and the passing mention seemed almost out of place there. I recommend you look for an article where such a link can be put in a more direct and relevant context instead (or of course in list articles including that topic as valid entry). Vym (software) sources and "copyright violations"
Please have a closer look at the readme here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/vym/files/Development/ , consider what it says, "please check the homepage for details: http://www.insilmaril.de/vym ", and consider whether "help" output of a GPL program is copyrighted. I'm no lawyer, but my opinion is you're mistaken on copyright here, and removing that URL as a source. - No, it's self-promotional PR speak and should not be used in an encyclopedia, copyrighted or not. And all external content is by default copyrighted (unless it's explicitly released under a free license or legally Public domain due to age, US government works, etc.). Please re-read earlier advice from November 2019 and January 2020 though: "... please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article." This is really the best possible advice to avoid copyright-related problems with unclear external content. I believe, I have given you all relevant information - but you are welcome to ask any other admin for a second opinion or use an appropriate noticeboard as a last resort. Problems
- Some development will be slower than planned. This is because of the current pandemic. You can see the new deployment guidelines. This is to avoid risks when some persons could be unavailable.
- There was a problem when adding interwiki links. The tool you use to add interwiki links could suggest the wrong project to link to. This has now been fixed. [15][16]

Maintenance script. This will start on 13 April 2020. You can rename them before this if you wish and the new title can be different from the one the script would rename it to. [21]

- You can now use the

- You can see edits from the Wikimedia Cloud Services in a new dashboard.
- When you use filters on a history page you sometimes don't see any edits. There is a text explaining this now. Before it was just empty. [24]
- There is a new Wikimedia Technical Blog. [25]
Problems
- There was a problem with the Wikidata database last week. Some wikis went down for twenty minutes. Wikidata and other projects showed error messages. Interwiki links were not shown, some tools did not work and other problems. Some of this was fixed quickly. The developers are working on fixing the rest. [26][27][28]

- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from April 14. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from April 15. It will be on all wikis from April 16 (calendar).

Editing news 2020 #1 – Discussion tools

The Editing team has been working on the talk pages project. The goal of the talk pages project is to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. This project is the result of the Talk pages consultation 2019.
The team is building a new tool for replying to comments now. This early version can sign and indent comments automatically. Please test the new Reply tool.
- On 31 March 2020, the new reply tool was offered as a Beta Feature editors at four Wikipedias: Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian. If your community also wants early access to the new tool, contact User:Whatamidoing (WMF).
- The team is planning some upcoming changes. Please review the proposed design and share your thoughts on the talk page. The team will test features such as:
- an easy way to mention another editor ("pinging"),
- a rich-text visual editing option, and
- other features identified through user testing or recommended by editors.

The guidelines specifically allow for external links; [[WP:EL#What_can_normally_be_linked|allowed links]], suggesting that we can link to "Sites that contain neutral and accurate material". All these Floss Weekly episodes are for projects whose sites are accurate and neutral.

Hi GermanJoe, thanks for the message and edits regarding external links on the [[List_of_FLOSS_Weekly_episodes]] page.
However, I would disagree with your interpretation of the policy in regards to this specific page.
The guidelines specifically allow for external links; [[WP:EL#What_can_normally_be_linked|allowed links]], suggesting that we can link to "Sites that contain neutral and accurate material". All these Floss Weekly episodes are for projects whose sites are accurate and neutral.
Can I please suggest that we have a discussion on the [[Talk:List_of_FLOSS_Weekly_episodes|article's Talk page]] about this somewhat mature article/page, before we wholesale remove valuable information collected over a few years now?

* Some articles have tables that can be sorted in different ways. For example a list of countries can be sorted alphabetically but you can click on the size column to sort them by size. If you clicked on the column a second time it would sort the countries from the bottom to the top instead. A third click will now take you back to the original sorting. Future changes
- A temporary fix helped wikis make their main pages more mobile friendly. This was in 2012. It has not been recommended since 2017. It will not work after 13 July. Wikis should use TemplateStyles instead. 118 wikis need to fix this. You can read more and see if your wiki is affected. [34]

The next page after I sent the internal email quickly lead me to this talkpage. I do not understand why you removed my content and incorrectly labeled it as promotional. My edit is inclusion (no deletions or changes) of historical fact, with news website citations and references and I purposely did not word any of it in a method that would imply promotion.
Please reply with either an explanation or a reversal so that I or you can include it.

This edition of the Editing newsletter includes information the Wikipedia:Talk pages project, an effort to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily. The central project page is on MediaWiki.org.
- Reply tool: This is available as a Beta Feature at the four partner wikis (Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian Wikipedias). The Beta Feature will get new features soon. The new features include writing comments in a new visual editing mode and pinging other users by typing
@. You can test the new features on the Beta Cluster. Some other wikis will have a chance to try the Beta Feature in the coming months. - New requirements for user signatures: Soon, users will not be able to save invalid custom signatures in Special:Preferences. This will reduce signature spoofing, prevent page corruption, and make new talk page tools more reliable. Most editors will not be affected.
- New discussion tool: The Editing team is beginning work on a simpler process for starting new discussions. You can see the initial design on the project page.
- Research on the use of talk pages: The Editing team worked with the Wikimedia research team to study how talk pages help editors improve articles. We learned that new editors who use talk pages make more edits to the main namespace than new editors who don't use talk pages.

Recent changes
- Toolforge hosts several tools created by the Wikimedia community like edit counters or enhanced editors. It is changing the domain from tools.wmflabs.org to toolforge.org. The routing scheme is moving from tools.wmflabs.org/toolname to toolname.toolforge.org. You can read the details. Tools that use OAuth will have to be updated to keep working. You can ask for help.
Problems
- There is a Wikidata item link in the sidebar on many pages. This disappeared for a couple of days for users who have the Monobook skin. This was because of a bug. It has now been fixed. [35]
- Editing, logging in and logging out didn't work properly for a short period of time last week. It was soon fixed. [36]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 16 June. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 17 June. It will be on all wikis from 18 June (calendar).
Future changes
- Pywikibot is a Python library to automate work on wikis. It will not support Python 2 after the new version in July. Support for Python 3.4 and MediaWiki below 1.19 will also be dropped. You should migrate to Python 3. You can ask for help. [37]
- The selectors

Still, as a general tip, you should try to avoid commercial or promotional sources as much as possible (although they are occasionally OK for non-controversial claims).
