He's at it again

User:Beast from da East is back to his old habit of removing practice squad and offseason teams from infoboxes. It's starting to get disruptive. RF23 (talk) 20:15, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

Chill, he's done it at one article as far as I can tell. Saying that he's "fucking up the infobox" probably doesn't help the situation.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 20:23, 5 April 2010 (UTC)

College Football Project request

Hello! You are listed as an active member of the College Football Project! We have a large number of unreferenced biographies of living persons, but it works out to be just two or three articles per active participant. I've divided up the articles that need help and put them in a table on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject College football/Unreferenced BLPs. Please assist the project by researching and sourcing the articles that have been "assigned" (so to speak) to you.--Paul McDonald (talk) 02:54, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

Great idea, I'll make sure to research those pair of article tomorrow. Shouldn't be too difficult to find sources for the info. Cheers,--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 03:04, 11 April 2010 (UTC)

This revert undoes significant code cleanup for the sake of what appears to be one trivial visual bug. I've now fixed that bug; in future, it is more productive to drop people friendly notes over such things than simply to hit the undo button and expect the (very) few people who work in templatespace to have to go around begging people to make uncontroversial code cleanup changes. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 08:38, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

I certainly should've dropped you a note, but I simply forgot. However, I noticed a few different presentational changes which would have to be discussed about at WP:NFL. While most of it may have been general code cleanup something in there must've changed the way the infobox itself looked. Cheers,--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 18:28, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my userpage. Eagles 24/7 (C) 03:12, 17 April 2010 (UTC)

Joe Mather

Joe Mather appeared as a pitcher in tonight's game. While I agree with you that one pitching appearance in extreme circumstances does not mean that we should call him a pitcher in the article, please assume good faith. Calling it "vandalism" was not appropriate, as per Wikipedia:Avoid the word "vandal". Kansan (talk) 03:12, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Look at what I removed, I didn't call that vandalism the editors said "Miserable New York Mets" and "he gave up a run" which is vandalism. Cheers,--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 03:20, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

You probably noticed that he removed the message you just left on his talk page, unfortunately that probably means hes going to continue.--Yankees10 02:26, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Juice Williams

University of Illinois Football page claims he's been signed to a contract. http://twitter.com/IlliniFootball/status/12794222452

I'm also reading that most of the players added to the Bears' wikipedia roster aren't being offered contracts until tomorrow.

Twitter's not considered a reliable source however this site is considered one and lists Juice Williams as being invited on a tryout basis. Cheers,--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 02:30, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
You were right about Juice, but this article by Brad Biggs for the Tribune and Chicago Breaking Sports suggests that no one will be offered contracts until tomorrow and that only Barnes & Mayberry are locks. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/04/bears-set-to-sign-two-local-free-agent-products.html
The additions of Barnes and Mayberry are questionable, but the others are certainly incorrectly included.
Thanks for that, I'll be on the lookout. However, since there are conflicting reports we'll have to wait till tomorrow when we should know for sure who's signed and who's not. Cheers,--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 02:43, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Sure. I wasn't trying to be a dick either, and I realize the Williams call was my mistake. It just seems like there are some rather arbitrary changes made to the roster pages--and a fiercely exclusive group of people who edit them (See Jamar Williams' resigning earlier this week)--and I'm more comfortable bringing it up to someone like yourself rather than continuing to try to edit it. Something needs to change...
Feel free to edit the roster templates at any time just make sure you have the url reference in the edit summary and also say something like "QB Juice Williams signed". And don't forget to update the date and count when you add or remove a player. Cheers,--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 13:20, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice.

With this, what's the difference between the gray text and the black text? Eagles 24/7 (C) 04:17, 25 April 2010 (UTC) Nevermind, I figured it out. Eagles 24/7 (C) 05:52, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Fiani

Hey Giants, after our debates on the likes of Devin Frischknecht, Ju-Ju Clayton, and the other one (Must not be notable cause I can't remember his name :p). I was wondering if you could take a look at this, It's a small school but he is the starter Qb and partially looks to me to pass WP:ATH, I was wondering if I should even ask my time expanding it for article space.--SKATER Speak. 16:49, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Feel free to keep it up to date but unless more sources are available then I'm assuming there are he's non-notable at the moment. However, if he gets significant non-local coverage or wins a major D1-AA (I know it's not called that anymore but I don't remember what it is now ;)) then moving the article out of userspace would be fine IMO. What's your reasoning for him partially passing WP:ATH since that could change my opinion on it?--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 18:31, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
That he's played at the highest amateur level, assuming College football counts -shrug- I still wouldn't feel comfortable moving it in it's current condition.--SKATER Speak. 16:15, 27 April 2010 (UTC)

Waived? (Lions roster)

What does waived mean? Do they belong under Releases or under Free Agents? I read Waivers (American football) and couldn't figure it out. TomCat4680 (talk) 21:00, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

Waived is the same as being released except you go through waivers and other teams can claim you and add you to their team. You're a free agent the whole way unless a team claims you. So they belong under "Free Agent".--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 21:02, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
Okay thanks. So is that RFA or UFA? TomCat4680 (talk) 21:08, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
They're unrestricted but they're obviously not still on the roster.--Giants27(Contribs|WP:CFL) 21:25, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 April newsletter

Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Pennsylvania Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to Colombia ThinkBlue (submissions) and Norway Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.

Judge iMatthew has retired from Wikipedia, and we wish him the best. The competition has been ticking over well with minimal need for judge intervention, so thank you to everyone making that possible. A special thank you goes to participants Bavaria Stone (submissions) and White Shadows (submissions) for their help in preparing for round three. Good luck everyone! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
