Adoption

Hey. Saw your add on the adoption page and I am looking for someone to show me how to be a more active contributer. I'm on Wikipedia all of the time, but I only make edits when I see vandalism or something small when I see incorrect information. This is due, not only to my ineptitude with HTML but also because I'm really just not very sure on what to do to create a full article. Look forward to hearing from you. Mikist4 (talk) 19:45, 15 May 2011 (UTC)mikist4

Sorry, but I'm not as active as I once was, so I'm not actively looking for adoptees. On top of that, I'm just getting back into Wikipedia myself after a few months off, so I don't remember everything you would need to know. I would suggest trying to find a more active adopter. Cheers,--Giants27(T|C) 19:54, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

Baseball player introductions

Hi there, I've noticed your edits to baseball player bios and they are generally very good. One thing I do ask is that you read this discussion and consider using the format I proposed and was accepted. I think it is a much better format. Thanks--TM 20:22, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

I don't see where it was accepted. I do agree with it for free agents, but for active players, I disagree entirely. I'm going to continue using the format I like and you can continue using the format you like, since like I said, it does not appear as though consensus was reached there.--Giants27(T|C) 20:28, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
Look at other sports. Baseball is the only sport in which your format is commonplace. Tom Brady does not call him a "NFL quarterback for the New England Patriots". The same for Sidney Crosby.--TM 00:33, 28 May 2011 (UTC)
In the case of football, they do. In case you have not noticed, it does not say "Sierra Leone football whatever" for football players from the Sierra Leone. For players of American football, it says that, unless they go to the Canadian Football League where they play Canadian football. There's no consensus for your change, so don't change it.--Giants27(T|C) 02:35, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

I know

It seems you are not going to change your ways, but I hope you will look at this intro you wrote and see that it makes absolutely no sense. :Dallas Lyle McPherson (born July 23, 1980, in Greensboro, North Carolina) is a Major League Baseball third baseman for the Chicago White Sox organization.

According to this intro, he is a Major League Baseball player who plays for the entire Chicago White Sox organization. Do you really think this is the best way to describe a player?--TM 00:22, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Haha. Since we've had our conversation from before, I have started to kind of like your way. After seeing more-and-more cases where the intro would have to be changed or makes no sense (such as the one you mentioned), your way is actually simpler. Sorry for being so thick-headed earlier.--Giants27(T|C) 01:14, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
Well that is good to hear. I am glad we've come to an agreement on this and can continue making Wikipedia better.--TM 14:05, 31 May 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 May newsletter

We're half way through round 3 of the 2011 WikiCup. There are currently 32 remaining in the competition, but only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Scotland Casliber (submissions), of pool D, is our overall leader with nearly 200 points, while pools A, B and C are led by Texas Racepacket (submissions), Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) and Saskatchewan Canada Hky (submissions) respectively. The score required to reach the next round is 35, though this will no doubt go up significantly as the round progresses. We have a good number of high scorers, but also a considerable number who are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. Also, an important note concerning nominations at featured article candidates: if you are nominating content for which you intend to claim WikiCup points, please make this clear in the nomination statement so that the FAC director and his delegates are aware of the fact.

A running total of claims can be seen here. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 23:28, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
