Replacing archived external links[edit]

I saw that you replaced an archived external link in [Kaihogyo]]. Wikipedia suffers from the phenomenon known as link rot, where external links, often used as references and citations, gradually become irrelevant or broken, as the linked websites disappear, change their content, or move. This presents a significant threat to Wikipedia's reliability policy and its source citation guideline. A way to prevent link-rot is to use a web archiving service. Please see WP:LINKROT. Ah yes, the webarchive is the unchanging link, I didn't know that, but indeed the magazine itself didn't link through to the old link as visible from the webarchive url. Their webdesigner never heard of http redirect ;-) Now let's sign underneath GigaGerard (talk) 10:56, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I found a second problem: You changed this sentence: The ascetic monk must go for 9 days (216 hours) without food, water, or rest of any kind. (Rhodes, Robert F. (1987). The Kaihogyo Practice of Mt. Hiei, Japanese Journal of Religious Studies 14 (2-3), page 196) to 7,5 days. The source you gave in the edit summary is a blog which is a self-published website and not considered a reliable source source in WP. Yes, the book of John Stevens "Marathon Monks of Mount Hiei" is the source used in that blog, I have read the book myself which gives the exact number of hours as spread out over 9 days, but totaling about 7.5 days as I remember.
