Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Hello, Gilchristcollection. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Request reason:

I had updated 3 pages before I received the message about COI. I updated Crowcombe Court because the information is incorrect. It said it was owned by Stockbridge but it isn't and there was a link to Stockbridge website so I thought it was OK to modify this as it was wrong. I was not using it for advertising or promotion purposes - only to put correct information in place. I also added a new and more up-to-date picture on each of the pages I edited. This again is not advertising or promotion. COI: I do work for the company so my understanding is I would have to propose the edits on the talk page. Unfortunately an account with the username Topcat2357 has already been registered so you'll need to pick a different one. I'm a little concerned that you only intend to update information relating to the company you work for as opposed to being here to build an encyclopaedia - would you care to comment on that? Not only should you propose edits(in the form of an edit request, click for instructions), the Terms of Use require you to make a formal paid editing disclosure as an employee.
