The February 2011 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun!

Get going!

The February 2011 Wikification Backlog Elimination Drive has begun. Please get started, as the drive aims to wikify over 2,000 articles this month. We're going to need all the firepower we can get, so please remind your friends to join up as well. In case you didn't know, wikification is fairly simple: just add wiki markup, links, and similar formatting. Thanks for joining; we're looking forward to an exciting time this month!

RE: WP Fictional Characters

Thanks for joining the project, my good man. Yeah, LotR characters are probably important, so Frodo being top sounds about right. For most characters, I just use whatever WP:VG or WP:NOVELS has for them. Harry Blue5 (talk) 08:54, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for assessing Angelfire (novel series). I actually just did a pretty big update when I noticed. -- James26 (talk) 10:51, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

You are welcome! I was going through the backlog of unassesed children's/YA lit articles. Glimmer721 talk 23:29, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Let me know if you have any suggestions. I think I've covered all there is to cover now except for a possible character section. I was also thinking of adding a screenshot of the original artwork, and maybe the author photo, but decided against it. Anyway, thanks again. -- James26 (talk) 23:40, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
It looks great for now, and I'm sure most information will come as the second and third books are released. A character section would be fine if there are other sources besides the novel. Glimmer721 talk 23:42, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Novels Barnstar

The Literary Barnstar
For participating in the January 2011 5-5-5 Improvement Drive at Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration. Thank you for the article clean-ups. maclean (talk) 06:00, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
My first barnstar! Thank you very much! I enjoyed the improvement drive. Glimmer721 talk 16:41, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
I appreciate your participation. The collaborative work on such projects is one of Wikipedia's strengths. However, as you may know, the reward for a job well done is being assigned more work. So, I have initiated a new improvement drive (for Feb 2011) here Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration which I hope you will also participate with. maclean (talk) 21:01, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

WikiProject Novels Collaboration for February

Thank you everyone who participated in the January Collaboration, it was quite a success with 5 new C class articles, 3 stub kills and several articles were removed from our backlogs. In support of the Great Backlog Drive, the WikiProject Novels Collaboration for February is going to help remove backlog candidates in the backlogs related to WikiProject Novels. Please join us, and help us wikify, reference, clean up plot sections and generally improve Novels content, Sadads (talk) 22:07, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Well, hi there (re: fantasy novels by decade)

Hi. I only just (what, less than an hour ago?) created that category and its sub-categories and was throwing in a few basic titles to get things started (I don't have time right now for a thorough categorisation). Thanks so much for spotting it so quickly and adding the Black Cauldron etc. There had been a similar category for sf, but too many interesting books didn't really fit, which is why I created this one. Well spotted.Artemis-Arethusa (talk) 22:33, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

You're welcome; most of the books you added were on my watchlist and I decided to add a few more :) Glimmer721 talk 22:35, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Oh, right ... watchlist. Thanks also, because thanks to your edits mentioning HotCat, I finally went and found what it was and gave it a try. It's great! I can't believe how many edits I've made to pages' categories by hand the long way. I guess I'm a little slow to adapt. Artemis-Arethusa (talk) 00:31, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I just discovered HotCat also! Glimmer721 talk 00:32, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
You've added more good ones, I see. I hope other people cotton on to this new category soon. You've made a nice start.Artemis-Arethusa (talk) 19:21, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, I was adding ones that one fantasy awards, etc. Glimmer721 talk 15:05, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Random question

Hi, haven't actually talked to you in awhile, but you show up on my watchlist a lot! How's it going? I dropped by with a question about The 39 Clues. I reverted a bunch of blanking edits, but left the very first one because I wasn't sure about some of the content and none of it seemed referenced. Would you take a look and revert that too if necessary? Thanks, PrincessofLlyr royal court 01:54, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Hello! I'm sorry, could you specify which edit? I've checked through the recent history and the only blanked things seem to be sections on future books, which were referenced. Glimmer721 talk 02:05, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
Sorry, should have done that in the first place. The one I wasn't sure about is this one; it involves more of what appears to be plot instead of verified info. PrincessofLlyr royal court 03:50, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
I haven't read the last 2 books or other supplementary works, like the Black Book of Buried Secrets, so I see how the Madline/Madrigal connection is possible. According to the 39 clues wiki and a Scholastic forum posting, this seems to be the case. Also, the book set to come out next deals with her, according to Scholastic, and mentions she started the Madrigal branch. I'd say this is true, but we may need to apply refs the satisfy some people, or perhaps a hidden message. Glimmer721 talk 21:34, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
I've just finished the 9th book and it explains everything. I'm restoring the edit. Glimmer721 talk 23:20, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
They just did it again; clearly the user has something against the Madrigals. PrincessofLlyr royal court 04:46, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Ironic, as that is his username. Ugh, I'll change it back.... Glimmer721 talk 22:14, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

Good topic for Percy Jackson?

Once we have all the Percy Jackson books at GA-class, why not make a good topic? --Perseus8235 20:29, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Of course! It's a good idea. (no pun intended). Glimmer721 talk 22:16, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup

You might want to consider entering next year's WikiCup. --Perseus8235 15:27, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Deathly Hallows

Do you mind working with me on Deathly Hallows to become an FA? I know it will be long and hard, but if it is featured on the day the final movie is released it woud be worth it. Please reply. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 18:33, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

I am changing the "References" section into a "Notes" section and making a new section for the references (a section for books). Please take note of this and try to look for other books about Rowling or about the Harry Potter series in general as there are many featured articles with books as references. I am adding one and we also need other books as references as well, as we can not use only one book as a reference. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 21:00, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, we might have to look around for ref 29. So, I made a Bibliography section, so you can put the lectures there. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 21:15, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Three full paragraphs I think should suffice. Then we can work on the critical reception, and then make last minute changes before sending it in for FAC. Guy546(Talk) 21:57, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Also, I would get rid of the Christain allegories subsection. It makes people think that there would be other things in there, thus makig the section incomplete. It would make it more like FA The Historian than, per say, To Kill a Mockingbird. Guy546(Talk) 22:29, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
I also need some help on the lead, since it needs more things on it. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 23:08, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, no. It does not ellaborate any further on the subject. Guy546(Talk) 00:35, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
Can you help me look for the paperback release date of the novel? I know the hardback edition was released on the release date (obviously) and there also was a new cover release before Part 1 of Deathly Hallows was released (I'll look for the date it was released), but I can't find the paperback release date. I'm working on the Editions section that the person suggested on the peer review. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 15:02, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Would you think the article is FAC ready now? Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 19:44, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Okay, I'm closing the peer review and submitting the article into FAC. Wish us luck. Guy546(Talk) 20:27, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I was thinking of making the Harry Potter books a Good Topic after we were done with Deathly Hallows, anyway. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 01:29, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Can you help me work on the "Film adaptation" section? Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 02:11, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
I actually mean on Deathly Hallows, but I can help out on the film adaptation section of Half-Blood Prince. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 02:18, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Hm. Well, I guess that would depend if you count EW a reliable source. Maybe you should ask around. Guy546(Talk) 03:02, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

If you don't mind, I will get rid of the {{done}} template on the FAC page, as the FAC page states that templates like that are discouraged because they slow down page loading. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 23:05, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Never mind, it was already done. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 23:06, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I would think about making an "Adaptions" section and putting both the film section in there with the audiobook section. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 23:01, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Yup, you were right, it was released on the day the book was released. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 23:15, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

I need help. I can't find one decent source about how Philosopher's Stone became Sorcerer's Stone in the U.S.. Can you help me? Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 18:07, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Never mind. Thanks, Guy546(Talk) 18:15, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
