OK, both "The Unnatural" and "Home" have been renominated. If there is any way, shape or, form that you could drop by the page and either list a few comments, that would be amazing! Thanks!--Gen. Quon (Talk) 14:58, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

Help with Doctor Who reference

Hi, I was wondering if you had any ideas about how I could reference the below paragraph, I am strugling to think how we could reference the part about adverts and commercials.

The serial format changed for the 2005 revival, with each series usually consisting of 13 45-minute, self-contained episodes (60 minutes with adverts, on overseas commercial channels), and an extended episode broadcast on Christmas Day. Each series includes several standalone and multi-part stories, linked with a loose story arc that resolves in the series finale. As in the early "classic" era, each episode, whether standalone or part of a larger story, has its own title. Occasionally, regular-series episodes will exceed the 45-minute run time; notably, the episodes "Journey's End" from 2008 and "The Eleventh Hour" from 2010 exceeded an hour in length.

Thanks Kelvin 101 (talk) 15:55, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

The change to 45-minute episodes I know I can reference with an article in a DWM issue I have, and it's probably in every source covering how the series came back (why they went to 45 minute episodes is actually rather important). As for overseas with commercials, I'm not sure that will be relevant until the International Broadcasts section (in which case I do know that the Sci-Fi channel cut down Christmas specials and "Journey's End" - I may be able to find a source for that, I've seen it mentioned somewhere - but BBCA airs an unedited version in an extended timeslot, and only edits for reruns). These overview things are hard to find, so books with introductions or articles with a general overview (providing they are correct) of the series would be ideal (I've got the book Doctor Who and Philosophy which does a quick run-down of the series up to 2010, so I'll try to check that). The extra run-times of "Journey's End" and "The Eleventh Hour" may be referenced in their own articles, and looking at old schedules or the BBC website are good ideas. I'm thinking of moving the well-referenced sentences pieces at a time into the outline I made to see if I can come up with a logical order without rewriting and rearranging everything. Besides those mentioned above, some episodes nominally 45 mins long were a little longer on original broadcast, usually by less than 120 seconds which the BBC takes in its stride by cutting down on the trailers between programmes (we don't get commercials, yay!); but a few were significantly longer. "Turn Left" was 49:28, but IIRC the Radio Times showed it in a 45-minute slot, which will have screwed some people with PVRs (I always set mine to start 5 mins early, and stop 5 mins late, just in case). "Last of the Time Lords" was listed in Radio Times as 50 minutes; it actually clocked in at 51:28. There was something on Doctor Who Online at the time about RTD & co. trying to get it down to 45 minutes, but it would have meant editing out too much important plot - so they got authorisation for 50 minutes, but it still overran. "Journey's End" was either 63:03 or 63:09 (I can't make out my hasty scribble), but for it to be more than 18 minutes longer than normal they must have planned it that way. "Planet of the Dead" was 58:53, but that was one of David Tennant's last few episodes, all of which had funny timings. The Region 2 DVDs up to "The End of Time" are slightly longer than broadcast, by up to five seconds, because the broadcast was usually cut or dissolved during the final "BBC Cymru" ident, rather than waiting for the fade that was already present. By contrast, the DVDs from "The Eleventh Hour" onwards are noticeably shorter than broadcast, because the "Next Time" teaser has been edited out. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:32, 3 November 2013 (UTC)

About Time

Sure thing - I'll move the two I did to "themes and analysis" and carry on. I did use page numbers for The Daleks - I'll add them for An Unearthly Child as well. Winter's Tulpa (talk) 17:22, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Never mind - I see you already moved them. I'll use that section title going forward. Winter's Tulpa (talk) 17:25, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Have you thought at all about going after some of the main articles of the WikiProject? Doctor Who and TARDIS would both be worth a Million Award, and you seem like someone who could handle them! -- Khazar2 (talk) 22:26, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi Glimmer, would it be possible to add the info from either the DVD or your sandbox to expand the 'Production' section, given that we are trying to get this done before Saturday, so that it can be DYKed on the 50th anniversary. I added the first point, but I don't think that the rest were really relevant to the Production section, so if it is possible for you to expand it before then, that would be great (sorry, don't mean to force you). Thanks, Matty.007 19:34, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Less than a day to go

Hello G. I know you are busy working away on various articles. I hope that you are enjoying all the shows we are getting leading up to tomorrows anniversary. With the worldwide simulcast of "The Day of the Doctor" it is going to be like we are in one huge living room :-) watching it together. Cheers. MarnetteD | Talk 23:50, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Yep, my local library put on a party and my team won trivia because I was one of the few who knew a lot about the classic series! I haven't finished the science special yet but I'm really looking forward to An Adventure in Space and Time here soon! Tomorrow will definitely be fun! Glimmer721 talk 01:41, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Congratulations on your trivia contest win!!!! An Adventure... was simply amazing. I have been reading and listening to interviews about the events of Hartnell's time as the Dr for over 30 years but this docudrama helped me to understand things in ways I never had before. IMO David Bradley deserves several awards for his performance. BTW Google has a fun tribute to Dr Who as its doodle today. It includes a little game where, if A Dalek "Exterminates" the Doctor he regenerates into the next one. 4 Hours to go Woot Woot. MarnetteD | Talk 15:33, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
If it's Doctor Who you're after; the lead slot on the 23 November 17:20 DYK sound good? (War Doctor and Night of the Doctor.) Thanks, Matty.007 16:59, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Yeah what I saw last night was really good; I'll have to finish it later though. And somehow City of Death is at DYK so I don't know. Glimmer721 talk 17:02, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Impressed with the episode. Perhaps a future GA? Thanks, Matty.007 21:16, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
You mean "The Day of the Doctor"? Yes certainly once things calm down and the production team explains more details they couldn't have said before the episode was broadcast (Tom Baker, etc). Glimmer721 talk 23:54, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes. Phenomenal WP Who related pages view count. 600,000 for DW page, 150,000 for episode, 50,000 for the duel DYK, and probably thousands more on other DW pages. Best, Matty.007 09:02, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
And along with that, and a Google doodle game, I sense a Who related page going top of the traffic report. Matty.007 09:05, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Sorry for typos/formatting errors, mobile editing is horrible. Thanks, Matty.007 11:19, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

DYK for City of Death

The Really Nice View for Really Nice Work Award
Hello Glimmer721, I saw that you have been doing some really nice work on Wikipedia, including loads of work on Doctor Who GAs, but also Doctor Who articles elsewhere; so I thought that you deserved to be the fourth recipient of the 'Really Nice View' award. Congratulations! Matty.007 20:56, 24 November 2013 (UTC)
Thank you! It's no problem; I enjoy it. By the way, I've got some extra time now so I'm going to begin the DVD commentary. I may actually get finished taking notes on Monday. Glimmer721 talk 21:41, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

Wow! I was going to give you one for getting Rose to GA anyway; but 50 GAs? Incredible. Matty.007 17:18, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

Thank you! I just realized I hit 50 too...still, it's so small compared to all the articles in the WikiProject (or even all the episodes!). Glimmer721 talk 17:33, 28 November 2013 (UTC)
