A tag has been placed on User:Norfolk-Tours/Wymondham Bridewell, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sorry[edit]

I am very sorry that your first submission was so rudely received. I have expressed my disapproval to MarcusBritish. I do hope you have not been put off. Category:Grade II listed buildings in Norfolk is probably a good place for you to start looking to see what a proper Wikipedia article looks like. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 23:10, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for your note. I am getting really frustrated by the site as I have been told that I can't use the name I have chosen but I can't find out how to change it! Is it really this difficult to put something on Wikipedia? Why isn't there an idiot's guide? I won't say much because this probably won't get to you anyway. — Norfolk-Tours (talk · contribs) via-email

Simply create a new account! On your new user page, you can add a note saying: "my first article was Wymondham Bridewell created under a different user name". Idiot's guide?? Wikipedia is, if anything, overloaded with help facilities. A box above says "you may want to read the guide to writing your first article". Have you followed that link? The standard {{welcome}} template contains links. There is an whole help: namespace. "Probably won't get to you anyway" - what an amazing thing to say - why on earth might it not reach me? But for Wikipedia matters, it is usually better to leave a message on my talk page. Incidentally re Category:Grade II listed buildings in Norfolk - I note that currently it consists almost entirely of mills - clearly there is plenty of scope for you there! — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 16:19, 1 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a new user (Glynn Burrows) and I have put my article on a page there. I have tried to find out how to reply to you on the link you sent but that user has been blocked and I can't see how to use the talk bit anyway. Your comment about seeing how to use wikipedia is all well & good but there is too much information on there and it just drowns me. I need simple, uncomputer-orientated explanations about how to do stuff I'm afraid.
This all seems far too complicated and I think I will have to give up, it is causing me too much grief. Thanks for your help, but I think I will have to keep my knowledge to myself till I publish it in book form. — Glynn Burrows (talk · contribs) via e-mail

I am very sorry to hear your message but it is probably for the best. Just for the record I have moved User:Glynn Burrows to Wymondham Bridewell and then edited it. Nothing of yours has been deleted - both your edits are available via the edit history. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 17:42, 2 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
