Help desk question[edit]

You recently asked a question on the Help Desk.

The help desk is for answering questions about how to use Wikipedia, not knowledge questions!

Your question was:

Manfred Mann song Blinded by the Light written Bruce Springsteen: In the lyrics of the song they mention being pick up by a "curly whirly. What is a curly whirly?

The actual answer is... no one knows!

One possible answer is given here: Lyrics to Blinded by the light.

The most likely explanation, though, is that Bruce Springsteen simply wanted a phrase to rhyme with Early Pearly at the beginning of the line!

If you want to see some of them, Wikipedia's article about the song lists other obscure lyrical references.

Hope this helps. PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 15:24, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incidently, in the UK, it is a chocolate bar - see Wikipedia's article, but that would not make sense in the song! PhantomSteve (Contact Me, My Contribs) 15:26, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
